EME bumped the quest XP significantly compared to the Korean verison. I think if the only MMORPG you have played prior to TERA was WoW, then yes, it probably is more grindy. But, between a massive number of quests, open world repeats, dungeons quests/repeats etc. it's fast. The only time I would say it slows down a little is ~52-53 where the mobs suddenly get much more health and hit harder.

It seemed like a good alternative to just disposing of stuff you can't sell, but the scrolls are starting to cost more now, and the material I gain can't help me at all. So basically, does it get better or is this just a large oversight on their part?

I am more inclined to believe the guy who says 5 days to max level if you put some serious playtime into it. But maybe after Ragnarok nothing is grindy any more.. Aion was barely grindy, a month or so for max level, whereas GW2 took 12 days, and it was my very first time playing the game, without info....but I guess I'll see. So server suggestions, and class suggestions if I want a good pvp char that can also be good solo pve but also a real asset in group pve? Does race really matter? So I'm a guy who played Tera around release for several months, tried during F2P trial month and then ultimately decided to quit. I think the game is too grindy, and so I decided against continuing. Just as a disclaimer, I'm not a person who hates grind, per se. I'm like the Monster Hunter type of player, who'll happily grind endlessly for a sidegrade (or downgrade) that looks cooler, or that sort of thing. But I'm also the type of person who, especially in a game like Tera where I feel like the endgame is PvP, would rather "hit the endgame and then enjoy the game itself." For example, I'm fine with farming like 30k gold (which was at the time quite a bit) by doing boring bear grind runs, if it were to give me the best equipment, so that I can actually PvP on even ground. 'twas not to be. Alas, you have this rather irritating ladder of endless grind to become/remain viable. First you need to get semi-decent PvE gear, to grind more gear (if nothing else as upgrade fodder). Then you need to grind (or get lucky as drops in a 3-times-per-day dungeon) battleground points, bearing in mind that your gear sucks ass so you'll basically do 10 damage to geared people and take 20,000 damage (no joke) in return, until you get the lowest tier of PvP equipment. Then you need to upgrade that shit. See step 1. Then you need to grind both PvP and PvE, maxing out one of the PvE rep factions (which takes weeks - you can't really truncate this because you can only get rep points three times a day) until you can upgrade the lowest tier to the better one. Thankfully I hear they buffed this one so that you don't have another tier of PvP equipment... ... except that they just added another one, which is tied to your PvP rating in arena or something? So you can only get if you don't get your ass handed to you, which means you completed steps 1-3 and basically fully upgraded everything in order to have a chance against people who have the rating-based equipment and, in the case of true top-end players, even get a monstrous buff on top that increases their damage by like 50%! Good luck. Look, I have nothing against grind itself. I enjoy mindless grind sometimes, it's a relaxing "escape" of sorts. But that grind ladder was just mindboggling to me, and demanded an investment of both effort and time (because you need to commit to three runs per day for a few weeks to effectively get the equipment, unless you get lucky) that just isn't going to be there for someone who plays other games and has other things to do. I got a Mystic and a Lancer to level 60 before they buffed Lancer leveling to not be as asinine. Solo, in both cases, although in the case of the Lancer I got a friend to help me out in the level 54-58 zone. And I had no problems doing that, because it was still faster than a lot of other games. That's not the type of grind that ultimately killed my motivation to play, though.

The bastards are clever though, cuz there's nowhere on either frogster or tera site where you can cancel your subscription. Since frogster are notorious for their crappy customer service, I asked paypal to block future transactions made by frogster. I e-mailed frogster aswell.

That's not the type of grind that ultimately killed my motivation to play, though. A lot of your information is out of date in the current state of TERA NA. Regarding Fraywind gear, it is ridiculously easy to obtain now than before. 2400 for weapon, 1500 for chest, 1000 for boots/gloves. Assuming you can win a third of the battleground games you play, you can average at the least 80 points per game which lasts about 15 minutes (both in completely one-sided and even games and say your contribution isn't maxed). From my recent experience, even the most gimp players I have seen participating in battlegrounds can maintain a 40 to 50% win rate. Agnitor rep and credits... the credits is the real bottleneck now but even then they are more easily obtainable than before and with less time. Nexus happens twice a day, 5 days a week. You can get Revered within 1-2 weeks. Lets assume the following that you participate for one Nexus a day, 5 times a week, 1.2 hour commitment as that's the most it will take. During the portal closing event and assuming you miss the first phase which is reasonable considering the lag and amount of people out there, you can net at minimum 76 credits. There are 9 in ZF, 9 in Argonea (spelling?), 5 in Granarkus. Even if all three zones are being tackled at the start of the event, you can easily get in on 12 closings. Okay fine lets say about 800 credits just for the closing events, followed by 1 daily, and the repeatable for a total of about 1100. This value is still really low compared to what my friend gets a night after coming back very recently and he claims at the least 1800. Even then if you play very casually and not optimally you can still obtain these items compared to say if you played another game with the same amount of commitment. Agnitor T14 gold weapon costs 5000 credits, Agnitor T14 armor costs much less but I forget the exact cost, one material to upgrade to Conjunct costs 5000 credits, Fraywind weapon costs 2400 battleground credits, battleground material to upgrade to Conjunct costs 2200 credits. Depending on what you want to obtain, how long does it take you to "grind" that? Not very long... It is definitely much easier to get what you want now than before. Costs just before the recent patch were for example 19500 for Agnitor weapon and 5000 for Fraywind weapon. Regarding the Arena gear, it is not a 50% increase... even if that was sarcasm. This is probably the hardest to obtain as in my experience I've ran into full VM groups like nonstop (like 3 games haha). I've heard from others that they get gimps and stuff though so maybe I'm unlucky? 1200 can be doable for a lot of people but 1500 and above is another story. On another note, you do NOT need to maintain rating to keep your item. The EXP grind from 51 to 58 wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. I did this as a Priest who didn't know wtf was going on and just mindlessly quested. The only "grind" that exists is really for Visionmaker and Regent if you have bad luck?. Everything else is a joke, even more so if you purchase Elite perks or buy boosts from other players which are really cheap. I guess you could say that enchanting and masterworking your items is a grind if you're unlucky like I was. I'm not sure how exactly it works, but did the monthly subscription from when it was p2p transform into the TERA club stuff? You might be able to cancel it ingame if that is the case.

Paypal has got to be the best bankservice in the world. 1 day after i filed a complaint they blocked frogster from taking money from me in the future as well as giving me a refund. LOL!
