That's because in 2006 the Patriots WRs were much worse than today. None of the WRs from that year are currently with the Patriots, and none of those WRs had post-release careers that were remotely productive (except for Jabar Gaffney, who is pulling in a solid 2 TDs per year for the Broncos.) Brady really started to shine when the number of competent receivers on his team became non-zero. Hilariously, Brady outperformed Roethlisberger in 2006. | ||

Of course he did, Ben had the same thing to deal with. I should have said "You wouldn't say that if this was the 2006 Patriots vs the 2010 Steelers," which is essentially what that offense has become. He now has Welker and Branch. Welker is good, but has been the biggest benefactor of the Moss effect. I'm very interested to see how he does now that Moss isn't pulling safeties over the top. He's on roster exempt so he would have to sit out for at least 3 games starting Oct. 31st. The Chargers only have to pay him for 6 games for the season to count, and they might not even play him at all. Unless he's traded by Tuesday (in which event he would still have to sit 3 games on his new team), he's just taking up a spot on your team imo. | ||

Rice is a better runner and just as good in passing, and has a much better team around him | ||
