So, I'm by no means as creative as 90% of the people who play the game, nor as good at building crap that actually servers a purpose (such as the pork processing plant), but I've decided that I wanted to make a platform high in the sky, made entirely out of glass, so that you can see the world below you. It's a very tedious task, as I spent the longest time just searching for coal. I wasn't really thinking, as there's multiple lava falls in the dungeon below my base, so I'll just have to make a ton of buckets and go collecting.
Still, even with the fuel issue sorted out, it's a lot of work with collecting sand (not really a big deal), turning it into glass (have ~8 furnaces going), and then finally placing it.
Here's my progress so far:
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b161/sonofek/base2.jpg) Photobucket does not like my screenshots, cutting off all the important bits. The screenshot above is the only semi-decent of the 10 I took. I'll try uploading them somewhere else later.
My ground base and the area surrounding it are really messy right now due to the amount of sand I've extracted. Once the area around it is entirely stripped of sand, I plan on both expanding my home, and tidying up a bit. But for now the work on the platform continues. End goal is to have it extend a wide range, always higher than the surrounding landscape.

gotta love minecraft

Don't know how active this thread was before I came along, but it would figure it would seem to die once I take an interest in the game.
Started a new save file to take a break from the tedious effort of making/placing glass. It's a fairly amazing save file. Collected a ton of wood near my start point, then found a mountain that had coal in plan view. Mined out a few chunks, and had created a little cove that was mostly there already, in the side of a mountain. It's really cool because it has two entrances, one facing south and another facing west ( I think.) Decided to go about my whole building concept a different way, and I've just been improving it. Since it's on a massive mountain, I'm thinking I'll create a castle fortress. I've already built a staircase that leads all the way to the peak of the mountain, and have created a few rooms, but it's all pretty rough now. Also mined out a stream square, so I have a waterfall going out of my base. It's funny because every night a skeleton spends the entire time shooting arrows at me and trying to swim up.
Directly across from my base I found a monster spawner that was more or less out in the open (it was in a cave, but the cave was 2-3 space from direct sunlight. I managed to bait the skeleton out and watch him burn, then toss a torch inside. Two chests gave me a ton of good stuff (considering I had been playing the world for 20 minutes.) A few buckets, bread, enough string to make a bow, some arrows, and iron.

Had a massive ragefest earlier when I discovered a huge cavern with loads of resources but I got slaughtered by a legion of skeletal archers guarding the place. I kept going back to try and get my stuff but died each time until finally all my gear disappeared
Hard mode isn't that bad, it's just that I get too greedy and over confident.

I had decided I wanted to go into the cavern below my base to fill some buckets of lava. I managed to find a lot of iron down there, and had about 5 buckets on me, when I found a new area that I hadn't explored. I torched it up a bit, and fought two zombies. Normally zombies are no problem whatsoever, but these ones got the jump on me, so I died. Even though my spawn point was right there, I couldn't remember which way in the dungeon to go.

So i figured i would tell a bit about my main world as it is right now.
Currently my home consists of two parts, an old and a new area. The old area was built inside and around the mountain where i first found coal, the new is a plaza out in the open, not far from the old area.
+ Show Spoiler + The old part, in daylight... ... and in moonlight. With a creeper. Sup.
Its not very aesthetically pleasing, but since its the first thing i made, I'm gonna keep it. For now.
I did improve it a bit, the area around the entrance has been changed alot since i first started.
+ Show Spoiler + Through the waterfall, into the cave... Inside, the stars shine all day...
The new part is somewhat more pleasantly looking, but its not nearly as big. I still like it really much, especially the big house in the middle. Its my main house for now, because it has most the things a home should have. Not all of them though. Im still trying to find uses for the last rooms.
+ Show Spoiler + The new stuff seen in daytime ... And in moonlight, once again. The big forest to the left is my forest, where i can safely harvest wood. Which i need a lot of for my houses. The inside of my house. It has a kitchen, a dining table, some storage room for valuables... ... and a bedroom. And a lot of unused room, which im currently out of ideas for. Feel free to help out if you want.
Also I got a lot of stuff I dont have pictures of right now. One of the houses is an automated railway station, which takes me 400 blocks away to an outpost, which i need to expand. Also a library, currently without any use, untill we get writeable books. And a mob trap.

are the servers still down? when i try to log in, i get an error and an invitation to play offline =O

just bought it. TL servers down? any recommended good multiplayer servers to check out?
|
I'd wish the OP would update so that people would know that the servers are down, untill multiplayer gets implemented properly. So right now, non-TL servers are the way to go, if you want to play multiplayer, otherwise, you'll have to stick with singleplayer.

Yeah I'll play minecraft for just 20 minutes. Just 20 short minutes. That's all.
NO SEAN ITS A TRAP
I'm in real need of a TL multiplayer server. Does anyone know a way to purchase a dedicated server for MineCraft like you would for TF2 or something? I would definitely subsidize something like that.
I could host from my computer, but I don't think I have the capabilities to keep my computer on all the time, and if other people want to chip in money for a dedicated server multiple MC admins would be convenient.

Guys does my gear go away if i leave on the ground for too long cause i just died with a big ass stash of things and cant seem to find it :'((

Dude, I'm playing singleplayer for the first time. I only used to play on (non) survival multiplayer with some buds from vent and just dick around with TNT and making huge stuff in the sky and crap. So I'm getting this huge mine going down, and as I'm digging down I forget to put down another torch, and I go past this stone and it's only darkness in this huge path in front of me and this really creepy sound shrieks out. I nearly shat myself, closed up the hole, and ran out of the mine for dear fucking life.
I was so scared

I'm looking into VPS servers to host a TL MineCraft server. I know nothing about dedicated servers/VPS so does anyone have any recommendations on where I should purchase one? I'm either thinking http://www.linode.com/index.cfm or http://www.slicehost.com/ (recommended by a minecraft thread).
Also, I plan to opt just for the cheapest one ($20 a month), and I'm pretty sure that should be sufficient to run a minecraft server (and maybe other sexy things).
So which service should I get, and what should I know before purchasing a VPS to host a mc server?

The picture says it all. I've actually had one side entirely in use
It's still a work in progress, but I'm happy.

guys is this game easy to play to a noob that has never played construction games before? I would really like to give this a try tho a friend of mine that was playing it got pissed off cause he told me all his saves were lost to a patch or something like that, I read it on their website too that you might get all ur stuff deleted since its in beta or something.
ps: 249130 (28.48%) have bought the game. 10$ each that gives.... ?
|
2.5 million dollars.
The game is well, easy. Not easy in the sense that it's simple or you have god mode, because it can be incredibly frustrating and annoying. It's easy to pick up and easy to learn, but because of the huge random element of the game almost anything can happen.
