Recently picked up the game again. Pretty fun to play my WW barb again, although I am by no means awesomely geared

I recently came back too but just for hardcore, which has a much healthier economy (tome of secrets @ 14k gold each) and it is definetely more exciting - especially for me since I'm playing with a Skorn.  Softcore is dead though, my barb is worth ~10 billion gold but in the last few months I played I found literally zero items worth more than a million.

It's true that SC economy is a bit messed up, and everything is constantly decreasing in price. But it is still fun to play with people, and with the low prices (and your probably large bank...) you can easily upgrade your toon to handle higher MPs, or get gear for your friends to join in. So I don't really play it to progress my char any longer, but rather just enjoying playing the game.
With my new ISP, I haven't had a broken connection for almost a month, so maybe time for me to try HC.

HEya, I've recently come back to d3 and am wondering about a few things:
1) what should I be picking up? Rings, ammys, gloves and legendaries seem the only thing worthwhile...
2) is it really worth buffing my character so that I can do higher MPs? I have a strafe build that I enjoy doing low MPs on and do the ball lightning build on harder modes with groups. I mean, in terms of farming it's all about the speed combined with MF so should I bother upgrading for +30 MF?
3) Anyone know if the console versions will be linked to the same AH?

1) yes, sounds about right. Gloves and ammys are rapidly losing value as people craft though. High ilvl weapons should probably be picked up as well, as most classes can use rare weapons even at top lvl.
2) They buffed high MPs (that is, more loot, more XP, less effort), so yes, you want to go higher. Unfortunately for you, DHs scale pretty bad into higher MPs. In fact, most agree that DH is the worst class these days, where good gear is so cheap, and high MPs are buffed. The game is no longer about rushing through MP2 asap. Don't bother with the last MF. There are probably new builds around as well, have a look in the DH thread.

Haven't played the game in a long time, is MF swapping still worth it or should i just sell all my MF items with crappy other stats?

They're probably worthless anyway. Swapping isn't good anymore fo several reasons... magic find is capped and reaching that cap isn't that hard with paragon levels + a couple items; nowadays the killing speed is so high that swapping may be a waste of time; killing huge packs of white mobs is equally good or a lot better (depending on monster power) than killing elites, and you just can't swap for white mobs; the gear quality is so high in comparison to 12 months ago that magic find is considered a wasted affix, so If you haven't played in ages you'll probably find better gear with added mf for very few golds.
