Why is everyone so surprised and mad Blizzard is doing their weekly maintenance on Tuesday like they always do?

We are officially one week after Diablo, so people who didn't play WoW before will get the pattern after this.

I forgot about this maintenance and was exicted to come home and play after a 10 hour day...

Seriously what the fuck, such a step backwards from single player games. I seriously thought that since d3 has a huge single player built into it they wouldn't have the same 8 hour downtime every Tuesday that wow has. -_-

I am in Australia, prime time to play 7:45pm and I can't play after a long day at work, guess how I feel?

That said, I doubt it will continue to be 8 hours, I'm pretty sure WoW rarely has such long downtimes and WoW probably has a lot more complex server architecture than D3.

DIABLO ISNT WOW. i never played wow, don't care about wow, as far as i know wow was a douchebag game, so please stop saying 'hey its TUESDAY (SO FUCKING WHAT?), just like WOW(WOW! WHO CARES?) this is normal'. im in aus too downtime at this time is so douchebag like im vomiting of a douchebag overdose... for pretty much any normal human being in australia that makes tuesday unplayable (if you work 9-5, you don't play before work herpa derpa doucher) as downtime is 6pm aus time till (2am). Sick one. gonna write a letter with douchebag pen writing addressed to the 'biggest douche of them all (thats you blizzard)' and i will smudge the ink so they have a hard time reading what i have to say. On a serious note, it's a little upsetting and I sincerely hope that this scheduled maintenance will not be a regular weekly occurrence.

And they will answer your mail with "Dear backwater country dweller".
Just kidding, I'm very surprised Blizzard has their maintanence times set so that it is unplayable at peak times in Australia... do you guys play on the US server, or do you use the asian one, because I assume the asian server does not have maintanence when you geth home from work.
EDIT: Just wanted to note that my misspelling of get is epic and will remain as is.

They do it for SC2 so it should be assumed it will be weekly and some amount of hours. It's not always super long iirc but it always happens early Tuesday (pacific).

Visiting BNet Diablo 3 forums because of the maintenance. Pretty interesting stuff to read there.

So ive just finished normal mode solo, level 32 wizard now. and i am REALLY enjoying this game.
There are so many people moaning about this or that, most recently a music sucks thread (lol! :D) and i really feel as if they are nit-picking to the extreme, but it wouldnt be TL without them i suppose -_-.
The story was good for what it was, a diablo story. + Show Spoiler +Didnt cross my mind that adria would betray her daughter, i thought leah would lose control of diablo and he would take over. For one.
The difficulty, well, ive only played normal, but i died more times then i'd like to admit. I ran through path of exile beta on a squishy char and got to the 3rd difficulty before i died (hardcore). In D3 normal, i died 10+ times at least, although maybe im just bad (?) but i doubt it. And all the whining about hell and inferno, im in for a good time.
All other moaning, is just silly imo.
The two or three major gripes i have with this game.
DRM - Always online has annoyed everyone, and everyone hates it. I only got this game 3 days ago so i experienced sunday's downtime, after a 9 hour download saturday, i log on sunday thinking i can play, get kicked off for 4 (?) hours and the servers come back up right as i am going out to dinner. Fuck you blizzard kthx :D
Also the fact that i lag in soloplay when others on my internet are downloading . BS
The auction house - It really destroys that finding loot feeling, as ive found just gathering gold and going to auction is the easiest, and almost only way to get decent gear. Something needs to be done about this i feel, its terrible

Casual gamer here. Never played D2 before. Currently in Hell Act 3. My first impressions:
Normal mobs and bosses are too easy and boring, whereas elites can be easy, satisfyingly challenging or impossibly difficult depending on the modifiers. This is for Hell. I tanked arcane in NM without even being aware of what is what, only wondering why sometimes my health drops quite a bit, till my friend pointed it out. Normal is like boring, get huge DPS and speedrun your way through.
I want to try all the classes, but am put off by the fact that I have to waste time (and feel bored) speedrunning each one through Normal, NM and most of Hell (please tell me if this is not the case).
Skill builds seem to be an illusion, at least for barb and monk. There seems to be only one viable "core" build (and role, with slight variations) for these two at later difficulties, although I may (and hope to) be wrong on this, since it's only been a week. Gonna try the other three when I have time.
Story is weak, though I didn't buy D3 for the story and wasn't expecting much from Blizz after SC2.
Lots of little facepalm things, like elective mode and advanced tooltips option defaults.
Servers are down too often, really destroys the hype and experience for this. Also, to those who say this weekly Tuesday maintenance is a usual thing, please note that for a not insignificant proportion of gamers, D3 might be their first Blizz game. Some of my friends took leave today to play D3 only to find out about this server maintenance. The least Blizz could do was to announce it in the ingame client for the past few days.
If this was any company, I wouldn't take a second look at D3. But due to Blizz branding, I knew most if not all my gamer (and even some non-gamer) friends would be getting it, and that's the main lure of D3 for me: I could play this game with lots of friends at a time when all of them would be hyped by it.

Hmm, who beat inferno first? o.o

If you feel like AH ruins the game, no one is forcing you to use it, you can still farm and loot items the standard way.

+1. The auction house is amazing, and it allows players with worse luck to still enjoy higher levels of the game. Because LUCK determines loot... You will have to do the same grinding to make enough money for a decent item in the later stages in the game anyway... I love the AH, probably one of my favorite things about the game... Im on there all the time buying and selling, doing loot runs and then selling items for much cheaper than average to keep the cashflow going (10items on auction house - u really need to sell shit fast if you want to make constant income). so i can make 500k in a day for items worth ebtween 20k and 300k with hell runs and the NV buff

Its only a minor gripe tbh, i tried auction in normal because i wanted to see what it was like, I found out for my measly gold, i could turn god mode.
Sure i just could not use it, but that would create problems too. I would be undergeared, doing no dps and nobody would want to play with me.
Also, everyone will buy their max gear from auction house, but then where is the end game? What is there to do once you've bought your perfect gear? :|
Its worrysome for the longevity of the game IMO, casuals (those who want to actually "finish" the game, not just normal) will get their max gear from auction, finish inferno and then think "woop woop, done!" and disappear into the night.
Alas, there will be the people who play for the fun of it. And those who roll countless characters and auction the best gear for all :D
Im not really bothered, i dont even know the full extent of what i speak about either. All i know is it looks pretty silly if everyone can just buy perfect gear then have nothing left to do.
People played diablo2 because the grind to 99 was immense. But also because the grind to perfect gear was immense too, perhaps it still will be in D3.
I will play hardcore after my first inferno completion anyway - So not bothered :D
