"The Hype
It is coming down to the wire as the Field of Four opens up and we see West Division winner and Number 2 seeded Blizzard is getting ready to clash against Number 1 seeded and South Division winner, BioWare. Both have a library of amazing games played around the world, with a vast amount of fans who will come to cheer for their favorite. At this point, there is no true favorite and moving on the Final Round or going home could be split by only a couple votes. Good luck to each of the developers and their fans!."
This is the fifth round of the competition, Blizzard has so far crushed all the competition, but now the opponent is number 1 seeded Bioware. Yes they have Mass Effect and Dragon Age, but really are such games, even with pleasant but not great gameplay, enough to go against Blizzard's Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo series? I think this should be the definitive moment where the Starcraft community needs to activate and vote for Blizzard. We need to show that with the upcoming release of Starcraft 2 Blizzard will crush ALL competition and leave no wounded!
Currently Blizzard is loosing by almost thousand votes, so the starcraft community needs to vote and overcome this disadvantage.
Go to Blizzard vs Bioware and vote for Blizzard !
March Mayhem Bracket: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/global/tournaments/standings/2-2010-March-Mayhem-Developers-Showdown
NOTE: Please remember, your developer of choice gets a second vote if you Tweet about it. Though you muse first link your Escapist account with your twitter account so the tweets can be tracked.

lol Blizzard is still crushing the competition. i mean they have wow...
|
Is there a bracket somewhere?
|
|
Blizzard vs. Nintendo next, that'll certainly be interesting.
|
Blizz will lose to Nintendo sadly

It does not mean it will surely loose. Stranger things have happened, especially in the March Mayhem.

Hm, if Blizzard wins this because of us, no one will realise it was the effort of loyal SC players, but it will be thought that it was just the sheer mass of WoW sheep who made Blizzard win the poll

Round four has begun, go and vote for Blizzard.
|
Didn't Blizzard almost lose to Relic last time?
|
Blizzard is at 67%, nintendo at 33
so yeah
|
|
blizzard leading by 900 votes, but the gap is closing.
|
whats the point of this competition, people just vote whats their favorite game studio? why?

While I thought that Blizzard had a chance of beating Nintendo, I NEVER expected it to gain such a convincing lead over it. o.O
|
Now what's even more scary is the next round, Zynga. The maker of Farmville is currently pretty handily finishing off Square Enix. With 6900+ votes, more than Blizzard and Nintendo's combined. I would be very, very sad if Starcraft lost to Farmville.

People need to see this! Blizzard still leading considerably, so it's all good and dandy in the Universe
|
In a fair world, Nintendo would win this whole thing. And I'm not even a Nintendo fan. And what the hell is Farmville and why have they disposed of my beloved Square Enix??
|
iirc, Farmville is a Facebook game where the main motivator for playing as said by one of the developers is personal shame, which is hilarious and terrible. Sadly, Farmville really might win the whole thing.
also, I'm bracing for the flaming that will come in Ro4 Blizzard vs Relic
|
I don't really want to vote for either nintendo or blizzard, because what they do is totally different.
sides, this is a web poll, and thus blizzard's audience will be way overrepresented.
I mean, I love legend of zelda and starcraft, but I won't say either is better than the other because they are awesome in totally different ways!
Edit: what the hell am i smoking... im getting serious on this kind of crap must be getting old

Yes, round five is open and Blizzard is actually loosing to Bioware, go and vote for Blizzard.

Team Liquid, it is time we own this poll.
|
If Dragon Age didnt completely suck i actually would have a hard time choosing. DAO and WoW cancel each other out i guess.
|
Ugh how come is Bioware still in the lead, sure they made a few good games but I see no point in competiting with Blizzard for them, they do not compare.
edit: we seriously won vs. Nintendo? that shit is impressive, we might just win the whole competition now. :o

Gah!! We can't let BIOWARE beat Blizzard out.. I sent my vote in...

Not this shit again. They rigged the poll last time. We rallied a few thousand votes and at every site update the opponent (which I think was Relic) got bumped a huge number of votes at once. It was the most obvious rig in history and the comment section was filled with flustered teenagers arguing semantics. I put half a dozen hours into that one, I'm not going down that road again. Never visited theescapist after that. The site as a whole lost all respect in my eyes.
edit: I put down one vote for Blizz, so I've done my small share here, but I'm just not getting overly worked up about this again best of luck though!
|
Haha, I must say the bracket is pretty suspicious.
Zynga, with the awesome trio: Farmville, Mafia Wars and Vampire wars, won over Square Enix. Is there only facebook moms that visit that site?
|
Nothing wrong with Bioware winning, but dear god don't let Zynga win.
|
Yeah it's an extremely casual-oriented site.

Square Enix lost to Zynga? What a crap site lol, voted for Blizzard anyways.

"Granted I've never played any Blizzard games, but I'm not that much of an MMO fan. SO Bioware has my vote."
D: from the voting site D:
There is a lot more to Blizzard than WoW T_T
|
voted, bioware is ahead a bit :0
|
Voted Bioware, sorry but Baldur's gate series has a bigger place in my heart than BW :D
|
Okay so Zynga, a company started less than 3 years ago, who has been accused of blatant plagiarism on multiple occasions, who have admittedly worked with scam advertisers to make more money and who overall just makes games on the level of your average freeware games, have beaten Rockstar North, Infinity Ward, Square Enix and are currently leading over Valve.
I would almost be ashamed if Blizzard won this.

Seriously gtfo. Voted Blizzard for WoW, SC and Diablo 1 & 2. Blizz vs Valve would be an appropriate final.
|
I just cannot bring myself to vote against BioWare. I'll have to sit this one out.

LOL @ the firms that Zynga has already beaten.
Lineage, Call Of Duty series, Final Fantasy series, GTA (!"%=(="!%() series obviously way inferior to freakin Farmville.
I dont think Half-Life,CS, TF, Portal and L4D could have a chance there lolol

There's a lot of ignorant people that vote there because they only think Blizzard did WoW. It kind of frustrates me. Although I won't diss Bioware, I still believe Blizzard has the quality to make games succeed for years and years rather than one or two playthroughs. I'm kind of hoping Blizzard somehow takes the win. :\

I would almost be ashamed if Blizzard won this. That website is kind of shady in general. I think they got tons of hits from that Zero Punctuation thing and just whore themselves out to whatever companies will pay for exposure. I recall there being a ton of articles and videos for like Lord of the Rings Online but they never mention WoW for example. Every gaming website gets incentives from producers but their coverage seems so selective that it makes me wonder.
All their original content other than ZeroPunctuation is incredibly bad so its probably their only way of making money

I've had my doubts of the contest legitimacy ever since relic vs blizzard. Somehow relic was always 200 votes ahead at each time. And when the polls were closed, blizzard lost almost 1000 votes, while relic around 500.
|
Voted for Blizzard, but it looks that Bioware is in the lead.
|
Oh, man. I have to choose between Blizzard Starcraft and Bioware Baldur's Gate...
I forfeit my vote.
|
Voted
they are only 500 votes ahead... if the rest of TL take their time to vote i think this poll is a epic comeback for blizz (and what's more epic about it is that this thread that made blizz win that poll ^^)
|
Voted for Blizzard! boy, wheres the 11 million wow players? lol
|
Oh god not this again, that Blizz v Relic thread from last one was the biggest collection of nerd rage ive seen in a long time lol

The difference has went down to 400 votes. Blizzard fighting!!!

how can valve be losing against zynga

I don't thnk anyone should cast a vote in such a shady poll. We should only vote in polls that have an impact...

I'm sorry, i can't do that. They make completely different games and i believe neither is superior. If someone put a gun to my head i WOULD say BioWare because of originality. They translated the AD&D system perfectly into a game engine and are the true fore-runners of Western RPGs. Blizzard make extremely polished games, but i have yet to see them innovate!

Some people came a lot later to gaming than 97 or 99. So if i started playing starcraft in 2005, it won't look innovative for me, because I've only played 2005 games.
Now for someone who started gaming in 97, starcraft is really innovative and same is with diablo and warcraft series.

How would some know if it was innovative in 98, 99? Some people will hear it was innovative, will come to forums and websites like this and find out, but most people won't and will regard it as just polished, because thats what most review sites tell them, they don't mention what was unique and innovative in them.

ok..blizzard is losing..again

In any case, setting up the polls in the first place is a naked grab for pageviews, it wouldn't take much more for them to rig the votes in hopes of getting even more.

My point exactly, and besides, just like I don't want to say SC2 or D3 will be better than the other 'cause they'll be my two favourites for sure, I wouldn't vote for Blizzard or Bioware since they are my favourite game makers.

What says they can't both be top-notch? Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, WoW vs Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins. See anything disapproving among those?
