EternityRO (10x/10x/7x) is wiping this Saturday (Dec.5, '09). Scheduled Release: 9:00PM GMT4:00PM EST1:00PM PST 12/05/09 After this wipe, there won't be another wipe for 26 months. Everyone starts fresh and on level ground. Everyone.
You can't stop yourself from coming back to RO. You're bored of everything else. And RO is free. It's the perfect opportunity to play when everyone else is starting off as a novice, too.
That's why you're going to download the client or full install and play with us come Saturday.
We'll be waiting ...
Drop a post in this thread if you plan on playing! (Leave your (main) characters' name(s) in a post when you start playing, too!)
I played with a friend on the free iRO server a few weeks back but quit when I realised nobody got punished for botting so I sure as hell wasn't going to bother grinding to 99 legitimately.

IIRC, Washington D.C. (EST)

iRO grinds too slowly, and I'm pretty sure there will be no botting in this server. Come play!
On December 03 2009 09:20 ilovejonn wrote: lol ro, play til 1st job, grind mid way to 2nd job, get bored, uninstall, come back. zzz
I might play, but even though the 10/10/7 rates ensure I'll lose interest far before the next wipe, playing on a server that wipes, however infrequently, would feel kind of odd.
Edit: Does this server have grape/empty bottle vendors? Because that would make me much more likely to play.
On December 03 2009 13:03 XDawn wrote: Should I just download and installed the FullSetup? That way I don't have to go through the whole kRO, etc?
I just downloaded the Full Install. but if you plan on playing other servers, you might as well go through the hassle of downloading kRO. My friend said the kRO download was much faster for him, but the Full Install ended up downloading faster for me.
On December 03 2009 13:42 Chromyne wrote: And get sucked in for the nth time? No thanks. + server resets don't bode well with me =/.
I don't see the problem of a server reset when it's going to occur in over two years. I honestly doubt you're going to be playing for that long.
On December 03 2009 13:42 Kaolla wrote: rates are way too high... you can be trans in a day or so? -_- that sucks
10x/10x/7x is too high? omg D: If you can reach even level 80 in a day (which is less than halfway to trans IIRC), I'd be extremely surprised... haha.
somehow someway I always end up playing RO once every 2 years... though its fun at the time I always regret killing 2-3 months over a sniper that I know will get deleted through inactivity
On December 03 2009 13:42 Chromyne wrote: And get sucked in for the nth time? No thanks. + server resets don't bode well with me =/.
You realize that 26 months is 2 years and 2 months, right? Who among us has played an MMO for that long. I suppose I have, when it came to EvE online. Over the course of 4 years I played it on an off for probably about 2 years.
To say that you would be affected by the server wipe is kinda ludicrous.
I'll play~ I haven't played since pRO went down though =/ What classes are you guys going? I'm thinking fs priest/wizard/gc sader, I'll probably go gc sader wizard unless we don't have enough priests or we have too many wizards
edit: anyone know how to get this to work on windows 7? I keep getting errors edit2: nevermind i'll retry tomorrow with the full install from their site, my installer is a couple of years old
Seriously, how the hell could you not know if they have grape/empty bottle vendors ze? I'm not going to play if there aren't these fucking vendors to vend this vendorable item to me ze.
Can someone get me up to speed on this game. I've seen it, I've heard about it but I've never played it.
I don't want a run-down of the game just an explanation between the versions and how the different servers work. Is this a free to play game or a regular MMO (fee-based) but you guys decided to play in a pirate server?
If this is a free MMO what do you get out of the micro-transactions?
This is so true... But I promised myself I'd never ever join RO again (Chronic "quitter and comebacker") unless it was on an official PVP oriented server. Because I got tired of all the resets. Between switching servers, and server resets I would've had several 99 characters on a 1x server by now. And now, between work, school, travelling and hobbies (and even catching up on SC) I would have 0 time to grind, whereas I could easily put in 8 hours a day in highschool lol. If I were to join even an official server, I would probably bot to 99 and buy super awesome weapons and armor on ebay.

It's free to play on the official server, but members get some pretty huge benefits They also have an item shop with some pretty broken stuff in it More importantly though, the official server is stupidly grindy :[
It's easier to level in private servers, and generally the donation items aren't as broken (though there are exceptions)

Last played on qRO ~2 years ago when it finally went down. Kinda want to play it again, but I told myself i wouldn't touch an MMO after after that since it just chewed up too much time. Brings back lots of memories though

maybe try using their full installer?
I am But apparently I was wrong and it wasn't fully updated, I just closed it on the "????? ????? ????" part Updating now and hoping
edit: okay it isn't working, it just updates sakray every time I try to open eternityRO And opening up sakray makes me crash too, similar error

"Payment Method Ragnarok Online is an MMORPG and as such, requires monthly payments [depending on how much is paid at a time] in order to play. Monthly payments are necessary to ensure quality and continued hosting of multiple servers and the large bandwidth required in order to keep the game operational. "
In my vocabulary, free means you don't pay the game, you don't pay monthly fee ... you don't pay at ALL!!!
This game is too addicting FFS. It's.. not.. worth ... it.... AAAAAAA.
Played this game on euRO(official europe server) for 3 years. Official server are fun because you actually have a population there for war of emperium. With all the private servers there's always the Euro vs US vs Australia timezone debate mess.
+ the GMs are ALWAYS corrupt. They give items to their friends in game or use donations for personal gains(HELLO EuphRo Crackheads).. I see it time and time again.
so i downloaded ragray but .exe file is split into 8 parts via .rar however the idiot put one of those parts (part 8) onto rapidshare and just gave a link and rapidshare doesn't have any slots open so i am so close to installing yet so far
anybody have part 8 they can send me through email or something?
Yes afaik, but leveling a gc sader without a priest sucks And there's no 3rd classes on eRO edit: they're resetting the server right now, should be fine in a few minutes

the ragnarok server is like 3 servers. Maps is one of them. If maps are offline you might still be able to login to character select
On December 07 2009 00:52 56.Lude wrote: i've never played RO before.. any tips or suggestions for my class?
If it's your first class I'd recommend going archer->hunter->sniper. You can pretty much hunt anywhere/anything with element advantage (due to arrows) and do stupidly high damage. Not to mention you can do well in pvp if you like. Then, at higher levels, you can spam double strafe and stun lock everything.
Just a couple pointers to get you started: -Put all your points into dex in the beginning -When your level is high enough (around 20?), try getting to einbroch (or whatever that metal town is, it's been awhile =/), go 1 map north. There should be a bunch of stationary plants (weak to fire) that you can just whittle down from far away. In the beginning it might take awhile for you to kill them since they have high hp (also don't attack ones that are close to each other since they heal each other), so just ctrl-click (auto attack)and do something else on your computer. Once your dex is high enough you'll be able to essentially run around that map and blow up everything on that map until you're hunter. I don't really remember the best places to level, but I just remembered that map was a solid map. -Before hunting make sure your arrows reflect what you're killing. Look up the monster you're attacking up on any data base and see what element it's weak to. -Since archers/hunters are stupid and don't really need armor in the beginning, make sure you're using the bow with highest damage possible
So yea, I really recommend going Hunter if it's your first class since they're pretty cheap to make, easy to level, and can hunt almost anywhere they like.

Hunter/Sniper is not too hard to level but terrible/horrible in PVP, unless you are planning to go hardcore the instant the server opens and take advantage of the fact that no one has good gear. Expect to be laying traps. Lots of traps. Forever. (In hindsight every single class does one single thing repeatedly when in WoE)
Most of the endgame is pvp-oriented, and you definitely will have to do stuff to support a guild if you get into srsmode.
Come with us and kill high orcs ice dungeon has crappy drops and it's boring edit: and partying is faster anyways edit2: and by high orcs I mean the map nobody goes to http://db.irowiki.org/map-info/alde_dun02/
I remember that place Me and my friend climbed through ALL the levels of sewer and ALL the levels of the dungeon (or something like that at least) then we mobbed up too much, got stunned, died, and raged hard
I quit this game once every server got shit and so many old school players quit. Played from late 2001 till about 2007 and dabbled around as a GM on my friends server in 2008. This game takes up so much time lol.
LOL I just realised this is the same server that my brother started playing on recently.
This is going to be rape.. It's not even close. I don't want to go in to a big history lesson but basically he's on Requiem and Requiem merged with these awesome guilds from private and official servers and is now Symphony. Looking at the names of the players that are on Symphony, I can say now that woe is going to be the most one sided rape ever. I almost want to unretire this game to witness this.
that sucks.. i really wanted to try the new jobs =( but im going to start playing tomorow nonetheless gonna grind at orc dungeon, they migh give me emps =P
Alright, I'm a level51 Gunslinger as of 1hr of playtime (that job-change quest...). (Captain) Gordon is here to defend Rune-Midgard (Earth)! After a few more days at least...

Using battle mode helps a lot xD I usually run HPriest and have fwings in an easy to hit key. But yeah i went there the old way (fwings through the lvls) many times as well, and it was a pain just to get there.
I remember some friend going from 98-99 in 5x rates in a day of majororus-party (several hours, the guy was an addict xd).
I used to (well i guess i am still part of) robuddies and what guild (though primarily WG, only robuddies/SFP because we semi-merged at points) But basically i feel as a guild we "beat" the game (that is, reaching the pure epitome of teamwork, content and gear and in full force generally being able to destroy almost any other guild in the world in terms of organisation and game knowledge)
I doubt i have the motivation to play again, esp not on eternityRO haha (robuddies arn't as strong without what guild And nowadays we are completely seperate)
As for superwoe's i am loyal to what guild
I might play on some mid/high if that happens though
kinda bored, i have 2 level high 70s low 80s. I play RO a lot, if anyone needs a GC sader tank drop a pm to SlaineD. Been trying to find something to slot my raydric card for so long, if anyone has any garment let me know (aside from hood)
Oh god, the urge to play is so strong lol. I need to resist or else this will kill a good 2 years of my life. Private server ROs can become so serious business especially with WoE and hunting rares.
too much fun! Level 76 priest, venturing into dungeons I've never seen before and I have no idea what "transcending" means... but I'm having tons of fun.
The game isn't reliably letting me use non-recovery items like fly wings or magnifying glasses. Whether I click them or hotkey them I have to mash the key or click like 50 times and then it might decide to work. Recovery items work fine so I dunno what the problem is. Is this happening to anyone else?

I´ve started playing this game again too for the xxth time ^^ (ign:WavE) it started crashing too at first, but then i updated both ragnaroks(ragnarok.exe and ragnarok_re.exe) and it started working.
made a gunslinger for shits and giggles... so far they are pretty fun to play. Only problem i encountered was the job quest where i had to get some zargon and rainbow shells (something like that) which are impossible to get if your lvl 12
I'm level 92 (still can't afford an emperium to start the guild ) and I've hit a wall. Ice dungeon is about as good as it gets for exp, and I'm getting .5% per kill. Yeah, it's still 10x (literally) better than if I was playing on iRO, but fuck if I don't want to stare at ice titans for the next week just to get to 99 and start over again.
We probably need the whole tl ragnarok players on orc dungeon killing orcs till one drops an emp, either that or going to abyss dungeon defeating some acidus they drop them with 0.05%, or even more sweet gather up some guys and priests go kill baphomet (5%drop rate) which is for sure you get one
If someone buys an emp, I'll put 100k towards it afterwards. We'll need a fearless leader though, RO doesn't support guild ownership transitions or anything, and if you want to woe effectively, a peco or stalker/sinx leader would be way better than a random dude with recall.
You guys should really focus on a levelling strategy lol
Since you got so many people with a decent levelling strategy you can make about 10~ people 99/70 in one day (in a full WoE build) instead of faffing around soloing for a few years

Is my game knowledge sorely lacking or are you suggesting a bunch of level 40-70 dudes cobble together a few sets of thor/bio leeching gear? Because that's the only "decent levelling strategy" I've ever seen
There's no way u can make a 99/70 in a day on those rates lol. Not even with massive leeching, which would be a pain anyway, because it would need to already have some chars that cannot exist in such a young server.
To have fun and lvl fast and easy i suggest get 2 wizs, 1 or 2 priests and the rest of the group and go mob majororus. Maybe there are better or easier new dungeons, but i know for sure that majos are easy and so perfect for lowish character partys (80ish).

I don't think the problem is leveling strategies. It's probably just time. I imagine I'm the most active player of any of us, and that's why I'm 96 now. RO doesn't really require a strategy for leveling other than blunt force trauma.
I use www.irowiki.org, db.irowiki.org, and www.ratemyserver.net for infromation on quests, maps, items, good leveling mobs, and that helps, but quite honestly, you could ask where to level in Prontera and you'd have 3 people shout at you as to where to go and be done with it.
getting to 99 before = something like 30 - 40 mil zeny + 1.make a TKM about 70-80 with unison 2.make your class 3.turn on heat/wrath/forgot what it was 4.leech yourself to 99
Gonna start playing this some day ^^ I used to play back in the day when you hit 99... and that was it. at least 6 years ago. Anyways i'll play some when i'm less busy! GL

Let's designate a town for TL to meet at for recruiting, WoE, gathering, afking.
I recommend: -Comodo (looks nice, not crowded, Kafra storage, "Chef Assistant" npc shop nearby to sell your junk) -Hugel (looks nice, a bit crowded, Kafra storage, "Vendor from Milk Rance" npc shop nearby to sell your junk) -Izlude (very not crowded, Kafra storage, Weapons/Armor/Tool shops are not too far) -Lutie (looks nice, not crowded, Kafra storage, "Chef Assistant" npc shop nearby to sell your junk, and it's christmas) -Morroc (not too crowded, Kafra storage, "Tool Dealer" npc shop nearby to sell your junk and buy magnifying glasses, nearby Sphinx and Pyramid dungeons) -Payon (not too crowded, Kafra storage, "Tool Dealer" npc shop nearby to sell your junk and buy magnifying glasses, nearby payon dungeon and payon castles for WoE, lots of player shops as well) -Rachel (looks nice, not too crowded, Kafra storage, "Tool Dealer" npc shop nearby to sell your junk and buy magnifying glasses) -Umbala (looks nice, not too crowded, Kafra storage, "Tool Dealer" npc shop nearby to sell your junk and buy magnifying glasses) -Yuno (looks ugly, very not crowded, Kafra storage, "Magical Item Seller" npc shop nearby to sell your junk and buy blue gems)
I don't recommend: -Prontera (way too crowded) -Einbroch (lags and looks ugly)
i make a big deal of npc Sell shops cause sometimes you come back from leveling and there's just so much junk you don't want to carry or put in storage.

From the swordie i personally love Provoke at lvl10, good skill.
About the knight skills pretty much the obvious stuff (2 hand mastery, 2 hand quicken, bowling bash...). And then either peco riding (to move faster, which is cool and helps mobing for the party) or Pierce (if u wanna use a spear against big boys, not that useful unless you have good equip imo).

My username is LovingSword. I grinded to 45 on stupid porings, lunatics, some rockers, poporings and what-not, but I'm getting really bored with nobody else online. Agi Knights are so hard to level... they don't have the range of archers, the abusive cast insensitivity for mages, the flee/speed for thieves, or the bulkiness of straight up swordsmen. Oh well
I'm flabbergasted that we have 28 people playing. I thought there would be, like, 7 of us. In case you don't know, guild have levels just like your characters. In order to level up, people in the guild have to be "taxed" a % of their exp. So if I'm taxed at 5%, I'll only receive 95% of the exp. I would normally get from killing a mob, and the other 5% goes to the guild exp.
One of the skills that a guild gets is the ability to add more people, and right now we're at 28/28
If you haven't been invited yet and are looking to join, just keep PMing me every now and again and I'll let you know how its going.
I've had to suspend taxing myself for a while because leveling from 98 -> 99 is an exercise in frustration, and even the 5% was slowing me down considerably.
i think i have a problem making too many chars. currently for 2nd jobs, i have a wizard, hunter and dancer. for 1st, merchant, ninja, thief, gunslinger and swordsman. i've made others but deleted them ;x
Where should I train a warrior from level 45 to 99? I'm damn poor so most of the guides I've found have resulted in instant death for me... and the fact that I see nobody at those training spots is disconcerting.

What build are you?
I've had a lot of luck just camping culverts as an agi-type until knight-change then picking up a wind claymore/broad sword and heading to biblian. If you're vit or going to be a crusader, I can't really help you out much.
Alternatively, you can try to find someone (mage/archer are probably your best bets) to leech off of.
edit: I've got a random combo-monk-to-be sitting around on an alt account if you want to party. At any rate, Bless/Agi+ always makes life easier.
For pretty much any first job melee class (thief, swordie, merchant) i suggest go kill wolves. They are at 2 maps south from Payon City. For low agi chars (low lvl swordie or any merch) i strongly suggest pack some "meat" items (weights more than a potion, but it is way more cost effective and overall cheap), i think the wolves themselves drop them too.
Also for starting chars the money is not really your first priority, better focus on lvling and having fun in parties. The money hunting will come later.

naw there is. which makes it stupid that there is no jobchanger....but whatever haha.
oh, where is the resetter?
It's an NPC in the bottom left shop of Prontera Square (the one with the teacher who likes flowers). You need voting points to get the reset and I'm not sure what the mechanics of the reset are (full, skill, stat?). Since EternityRO got removed from RMS, I'm not sure how to get voting points. Then again, I've never looked into it...

Very nice. I especially like the last two (just shrink down the last one). I would ideally like to have the wraith icon from Starcraft Vanilla, either by itself or with the "TL" "in front of" the wraith.

This. I was thinking, because of the VERY limited space you have to work with, that the "T" and "L" would be either in one corner together, or in corners opposite of each other.

Symphony is new. It's a merge of Requiem with a whole bunch of good guilds, plus some members from guilds like Valkyrie (Doddler's guild) that can't merge because obviously they are not going to just leave iro. Off the top of my head I don't remember who but i know Banshee is one
I accepted the wizard test before getting mage lvl 50 so now even if I'm lvl 50 I still have to get all those items......

you should be able to buy everything from vends use the @pc command (like @pc red blood) and it will tell you prices and locations available

Why don't you just tax the 99/70s and leave it alone for people who are grinding? It's not like guild exp is a problem on mid-rate servers..

Because up until recently, we were having trouble inviting people to the guild. Even now, we're again close to the limit about somewhere between 29-31 out of 34 (I haven't logged in yet today to check). There's a couple people still saying they want invites, too, and we do not have any 99/70s yet. There's 3 of us that are close, but it's still going to be at least 2 days before anyone actually reaches it. In that time, we could fill up again. I really don't want to see people left out because we were faffing about getting to max level, and meanwhile, a small tax could be implemented to where everyone can join without a problem.
noooo I need your bowling bash hm try posting on Eternity RO Forums and what do you mean automatically DCED? Do you get any error message or anything or just disconnected from server?
I did both of what is suggested (ie. unzipping into Data folder and downloading both the grf and ini file in the Ragnarok folder); haven't gotten an error since.

prioritise alarms over clocks and use jupiter instead of firebolt once you have over level 8 jupiter.
You will find that there are easy and hard places to level anything, and the harder places give better experience. There are also unorthodox and difficult ways to level that guilds work out that are not well known but I wont go in to that..
anyway..
SOLO:
- Stings (glastheim culvert 2) are better than alarms/clocks. And if you learn how to 'vertical firewall' you can mob. This is the old-school levelign spot for wizards and some mages. It may not be the most efficient place to level anymore though.
- stalactic golems + megaliths (comodo north dungeon) are nice.
WITH A PRIEST:
- high orcs
- turtle island.. I'm not sure if this is too old-school but it was alright when I used to play.
- the most effective non-secret ways of leveling are probably: anubises, majoruses, ice dungeon, biolabs1 and biolabs2. However these places do require some skill at this game otherwise you will keep dying (eg. if you are new to this game, you probably won't even make it to the majorus map alive, let alone survive at majoruses) , and if you were skilled you probably wouldn't be asking where to level. But feel free to try these places out and maybe you will get better. (There's probably some modern place I don't know about which is better for leveling but yeah I don't play this game anymore so I'm not up to date).
EDIT: oops forgot magma dungeon. That place is great too.

It seems like these are great places but as far as the solo places go, I checked up the hp/xp and geographers certainly seem to remain the fastest way to go (basically until 99). I'm one-hitting them for almost 30k xp. I mean, that's not bad at all. I guess i was just getting too greedy.

Duo with priest at anubis (although it may suck early on in the server)
One thing I would suggest is get into one of those mid-range parties like ice dungeon etc. It's pretty simple, just ask what spell they want you to cast and keep doing it.

Don't calculate by hp/xp. It's not like there is no break between killing monsters. I mean if you 1 hit a geo, then your calculation is basically assuming that you kill a geo every 3 seconds. If you want to calculate, then do it by time/xp. Trust me, geos are bad. You only do them at lower levels because they don't come at you. If you don't believe me, check how much % you gain in 30 minutes at geos, then compare it with other places. Solo leveling is waaay slower than party, but uh whatever floats your boat I guess.

I'm basically spamming constantly, with fly wings. There's at most 3-4 seconds break between geos. Given the amount of time it takes to set up a vfw, and the probability I'll have to gtfo if aggros come around, I still think it's faster! If I'm wrong though please tell me.

Geos are pretty much the best way to go up until about level 70. After that you can do moscovia dungeon up until about level 90. Level 90+ is either Anubis, Ice Dungeon 3, or Cursed Monastery 3. Good luck finding a party that will take you to Abbey (Cursed Monastery) if you're not trans-class, though.
edit: Also, going to Abbey costs either 250,000 for a one-time trip, or you can complete the entrance quest, which will run you a little over 3 million to do for unlimited access (2.5 mil for a "donation"; 600-800k for odds and ends that you CBA to farm). I believe the unlimited access applies to all characters of the same account, too.
Thanks. Actually... I have no way of getting logs or vines or horns, which are necessary to get to moscovia dungeon. I just died like 10 times to get the steel pieces. This seems hopeless

Time how long it takes to kill a geo. Probably 3 seconds right? Let's say you get 30k exp per geo. If you calculate things by hp/exp then you are assuming you kill a geo every 3 seconds. But if there is 3 seconds in between killing geos, then you are essentially taking twice as long to kill a geo (you can say 30k exp every 6 seconds, or you can say 15k exp every 3 seconds, or you can say a geos hp is essentially doubled in the hp/exp formula, or the exp is halfed in the formula).

I never saw geos as a mage monster. I always saw geos as a monster for archers. Stings, argiopes, alarms, clocks, louyang field monsters (mi gaos, mantises, bigfoots) and probably a whole bunch of other places are good from blvl 40 to 70. Sleepers are probably good too but I don't remember. love1another: You can do stings from as low as level 40-50 so just go there and test out the exp.
Seriously since you got so many people you just need a levelling plan
Heres a tip on how to 99/70 the whole guild in a few days
Make a bunch of taekwons Hunt thors kiilling cards Quicklevel them using the basic quests (rachel/ice necklace), use the yggleaf ress trick also to skip the first 30 ish levels Party with a bunch of your own characters Kill a bunch of thors monsters (profit) at about 10 million exp per minute, youre level 99
If you are too lazy then do anubis parties.
But there is no excuse to not do the ice necklace quest and get instant lvl 0-lvl80

Should I save those quests for transcendant?
Up 2 u really
i usually anubis/yggleaf my way (wiith resets in luck) to get the first bunch of levels
When you first start off a server you use those quests to make your slave characters and your first character to save you the trouble.
Ok. So I'm trying to do the quest, but I've been advised that getting 2.5mil zeny for the rachel sanctuary pre-req isn't worth it. I'm level 80 now, but darn I fail at this leveling.
With the quest you make an instant lvl 80 taekwon (trivial to get to if you anubis leaf etc, 1 hour max) and then from there you can leech any char to 99 on thors in a couple of hours maximum, less if you are doing it in a group of levellers
OH WOW! That makes more sense! Should I make a soul-linker taekwon, or a star gladiator? And the 2.5 mil for the quest? What's the yggleaf res trick? After looking up the res trick, that sounds cool. Now to find somebody who can tank me.

I usually multi client 4-5 at a time so i dont need a party or tank
Make a taekwon, use a yggleaf on some high exp giving undead monster (like anubis, a yggleaf is lvl 1 ressurect) and shove all your stats into luck and a bit into int. Start off with easy monsters and then move onto anubis's I suggest using a tank + priest to do it, anubis needs a party or youll die pretty fast edit: removers are really good for yggleafing at level one. Id carry about 1 mil worth of leaves for the first 90 levels if you want to do that. Thats usually lvl 80 in about 20 minutes
Then memorize the thors map with your star glad and memorize the phoenixes in there, and wear anti fire equipment - flywing and flying side kick the phoenixes and they should insta die with heat turned on Carry around sp pots and teleport back whenever you die.
Usually pretty standard to also have multiclient buffs at the entrance (like clown and gypsies) to make it faster and do it with an entire guild
Ice necklace quest usually gives lvl 80+ in one shot so you can use it when you first trans or whatever.

Back in the old days we used to use champions with a SP healer at kafra and asura the phoenixes in thors wearing anti phoenix chain and a bunch of sp equip and clown/gyp buffs (pretty easy actually)

Well youre playing frickin 10/10 with 7x/25-35x which is pretty high rate
Just find some consumable that is worth a lot that drops at 35x that you can sell for a lot. In my old servers i would AFK+Autoloot bot with homunculi for the vast majority of my money, and we had 100% gold drop rates on incubi so i would autoloot and use an SBK farming sin with flywing to kill them (20k dmg is easy to get as SBK) Each server has its own way of doing it
On a previous server with my guild we did it by farming 200 valk shields in one day and selling them off at 8 mil each haha
Oh and btw, i almost garuantee any serious guild you play with will bot for the vast majority of their consumables/money
It is pretty much an accepted part of the game for any competetive guilds - most real guilds dont give a rats ass about wealth or items, just being the best and being able to crush others at WoE is more important than anything else
Back in the day i remember we used to have both guilds have their creas WPE spam AD on key targets for each guild, and we would have entire precasts mostly botted
go play on heRO server, 5/5/3, it's been around for over 5 years. Donations doesn't gives uber gears, there is absolutely no bots, GM events daily, and once a month they have something call Trial of hero where ppl complete in pve / pvp. It ranges from 1vs1 duels to splitting players into dark and light heros and have the 2 sides fight it out in a massive battle and if in the end you earn at least 70 points from the trial of heros by winning your duels you will get an angel or devil Wing as a prize
I have been playing on and off on heRO, a happy go lucky community of 400 players for the most part.
Pretty sure eRO doesn't have bots or at the very least it's not as prevalent as the official servers. We're certainly not aiming to be a super hardcore WoE guild... we need to devote that time to starcraft, ya know :p

Ah the naivety
Yeah not as much as the officials but really unless you want to spend 3 hours every day hunting WoE mats for 2 hours of WoE a week then its pretty pointless To be a proper AD crea you need like 2k bottles per WoE and most of that is done by botting
Need about 200-300 berries to play asura champ also, don't even bother going in with blues and jellies cause then youre not really playing 100%
And the number of ranked slims and mastelas you burn through if you play properly is in the thousands also. There is nothing worse than playing with a guild which just fails in consumable usage and cant even outpot the weakest of precasts. Its funny when you see 1 AD crea do all the work in some servers...
Imagine when you have 30 GOOD players then you get real woe
From what I remember, the core of Nabz was very proficient in the game, while RO Buddies were pretty much terrible with a collective smaller-brother complex. You are on the other hand right about the massive amounts of cheating going on in Nabz.
I have great respect for Semir, who was able to pick up any class and play it more efficiently than many people who have had it as their main for years. I don't know if he still plays for them, though.

All of the core of the guild were good - core nabz had strong players, core robuddies had strong players,
What guild was the feelro creation of niko which IHMO, had the best set of "core" players out of any guild - when we stuck what guild core + robuddies core it was pretty invincible at the time (and well heck, we had some of the better nabz players too)
Ofc, every guild has to buff out without some randoms in the server - i think the extra 20 players each guild has is mostly fluff and cannon fodder since they are the players who usually have crappy builds, CBA to farm equips and consumables and constantly die in WoE
Long time player of iRO (it stole my soul away from BW... curse it!) - are any of these private servers really worth it without too much donation-spoilage? (a problem even iRO has these days ~_~)
Haven't even gone back to iRO to experiment with 3rd classes...

I'm down with this if you cant find anything else. ahha
I'd be down but I'm pretty sure if you want a decent server you'd have to host it yourself. Every server now has endless rebirths or donations etc. making them unplayable.
Hmm i was looking to play some euro a few days ago and its GONE T_T and i didnt notice ..
Right know iam playing LuminaRo wich is quite nice ... i dont want to advertise it but i left RO in the "good old times" , close to when they wanted to bring in the rebirth
BUT what iam missing is euro T_T no huge amounts of player , all servers are now are totaly : -unbalanced -way to low pop (compared to euro) -ruined eco -3rd jobs
Lumina got is close to euro , but i think i will never so such high pop on a server again ... wheres my 50k+++ WoE? T_T
Lol...I remember when me and my guild played around on paradiseRO after migrating from server to server as they went down. Got to 89 sniper [XxSniperxX] on the 4/4/3 or 5/5/5 server, can't remember. RO has got to be the best mmorpg for guild wars and partying.
i'm so fucking down to play some ro you wouldn't believe how down i am
PM ME if we get something organized, RO isn't fun without a good guild and guys you can chill with. i played darkro low rates 6/6/6 and got to like 96 stalker, was a funny server because there were so many imba items and donation items. i achieved instacast on my stalker haha, it was funny chaining JT's on guys. there were like 4 good guilds and 3 of them were in an alliance lol.
low rates, med rates, idc i just want to play some RO with you guys .
edit: unfortunately it sounds like 3rd classes killed the game
is there any way to just have 2nd classes? like just thief -> sin and have it end there. that'd be pretty cool having a retro RO. piercing people in pvp with a quad bloody pike sounds really fun haha
I've played RO during the beta and for a few years after, so I don't really know too much about these new classes and whatnot. But if you guys manage to find a good LR server to start a guild on, I'd probably join, depending on what kind of items there are for "donations" (not too powerful).
Ok so I'm leaning towards Limit-ro as the server since its the youngest i could find, and there aren't any ridiculous donations. The rates are a bit high at 50, but at the same time it eases some of the grinding as we'll probably just play casually anyways. I'll make a new thread tomorrow ~

I'm downloading LimitRO now. Ive always tried to find a working RO, after see friends play, but never actually got into it. Anybody got time for me in game, set me on the right path, that'd be cool.
It's currently in beta. The server will open "officially" around the third of this month. If you're interested in PVM, this is not the server for you though. It's a pure BG/WoE/PVP server. Login, talk to an npc, 99/70 of the class of your choice. You have points that you trade to an NPC for gear, starting with 500 and you can get more via BG/etc. There isn't any OP shit, and it's third-class-free obviously.
Holy shit, I had no idea people play RO here. I was gonna play VisionRO for the WoEs but I decided against it and return to SC2. In any case, there are not as many guilds on VisionRO v2 as there were in v1, which made their WoEs so exciting.
Anyway, I'd advise everyone to stay away from 3rd jobs as there are currently no eAthena servers running renewal mechanics meaning that the 3rd jobs are just completely imbalanced. Furthermore, many of their skills are broken or just unimplemented.
Oh yeah, not to mention that everyone on VisionRO uses edited grfs (custom hide/chasewalk animations, red stalker footprints, edited castle maps), macros and even WPE, RPE and nodelay if they can manage to find a way through the anti-hack. In fact, to join a guild on VisionRO, it's a prereq to be using AHK scripts including autopot. I'm nostalgic about the days when RO was still innocent, even the days when these cheats were being pioneered, but being realistic, I can no longer see the appeal in "high-level" WoEs.
Join EternityRO instead. It has by far the best community of any of the servers mentioned. It's like the teamliquid of private RO servers.
ive been WoEing in pRO for the last 2 months just for the lulz
and its like 1 year ago when we did this lol
its just that anyone who played on official servers for a long time can never really quit :D
ive also been waiting RO2 for like 343543543 years in fact im looking for a korean whos willing to make me an account so i can play on the upcoming beta
Well, I guess instead of just trolling like a tard, I'll actually say something. Edited GRFs are not a big deal. Honestly, most people just use GRFs for chasewalk and LP tiles, as well as some edited skills to not be as spammy with effects on (for example, reduced LoV/SG/MS effects). Chasewalk sprite isn't really a big deal man, especially on a competitive server where each guild member will have 10 BoS at all times. LP tiles shoulda been in the game to begin with.
AHK scripts also aren't as big a deal as you make them out to be. In fact, less people use AHK than you'd think - yes I even know high-level paladins that still don't use it. While it's true AHK creators are everywhere, autopotting is gay, etc... honestly, it isn't like there weren't people who are just good at spamming and could play that way before AHK was so popular anyways. The way I see it, the massive amount of AHK just makes bad players better... so more competition. Kinda a weird viewpoint I'll admit, but yeah.
As for WPE/RPE, I haven't been in a guild that's used these seriously since the FE days. Every now and then you get a member or two lolling about their RPE, but.... there isn't even much of a use for WPE/RPE in WoE anymore. They've been reduced to "useful as shit in PVM" programs.
nodelay is homosexual, but it's blatant as fuck. It's incredibly easy to see when someone is nodelaying and Vision is implementing server-side nodelay protection. While it's true pserver "protection" has always been lol'd in the past, I guess we'll see.
Oh yeah, as for guilds... WPE vs GVGMode, what more do you want? Nah seriously though, Sinergy as a whole is pretty much dead but a lot of core members will be playing this server so you'll still see them as well, Not Another Trash Guild will be going strong, AWSM is gonna be better than before, and there's quite a few other guilds as well. I don't think the competition will be bad.
im totally down if a bunch of people are playing. i havent had the true RO experience yet. most of the time i just join a high rate server, lvl up by myself and get into one of the popular guild to WoE and PvP with. its fine but its much less personal until like a month in.
oh ro, good old times. Quitted euro shortly after valk equip came out.
Would totally start again with you if you find a good server ( I seems you kinda have the same expactations what a good server is so I trust you.) A PM would be awesome if you decided for one.
1. It's one month old - It's a lot more fun to play on a young server than one thats been up for a few years, and we can catch up quite fast. 2. Rates are good for the casual folks, and who the fuck likes grinding for weeks anyway? 3. Donations are meh, but there's nothing super imba there. 4. The top ranked guild is level is 26, and 20th is only level 3. Again, easy to catch up. 5. There's a full installer :D
I'm pretty sure we'll just be a casual group anyways, so WoE isn't really an issue. I've always hated the drama and bs it generates anyway. Though if enough people are interested we may try. Otherwise the guys who want to woe can just join one of the other guilds
I'll give it another day, if anyone has any better server suggestions or ideas for feel free to voice them
I used to play yggRO about 3 years ago, and I made some good friends on there, but I stopped playing shortly before it closed down and I regret not spending more time with my only real mmorpg experience...

Looks like LuminaRo where iam now ... max lv 99 midrate no 3rd classes no imbalance(as i know right now) 600+ avg users
And its somehow pretty new but its running for yeaars dunno maybe they resetted or all players just joined in ...
Why limit ? and not lumina? xD
because it's fresh and new. it started on october of this year, we have a good chance at becoming #1.
when you've got the most amazing tomato sauce you want to put it on pasta which has been just made, you don't want to put it on pasta which already have other people's tomato sauce on it.the flavours won't shine through as brightly
in this case tomato sauce is TL and pasta is the server
maybe i'm just as hungry as fuck but i think that's a pretty good analogy.

I don't know if we'll be that hardcore
idc if it's going to be hardcore, i for sure know that during weekdays i'll only be playing ilke 1-3 hours max. i just dislike having to play when the market is inflated and when it's extremely hard to get good compared to people who have been playing for 3 years
K so after poking around a bit I'm having some second thoughts about this server :\ No autotrade / price check / show exp commands, and you can't dual client because there's some kind of reprocess prevention. just some core stuff that I would have expected to be there thats not
Man, that makes me feel old I think I started playing RO even before registering @ TLnet. I remember back then on the official server it was incredibly incredibly hard to level up. I ultimately gave up on my account because I was too bored and went back to BW.
It's still nice to see ppl are still playing this old ass game though . RO really has a unique atmosphear.
Celestia - 7x/7x/5x No release date as of yet (or at least one I could find). The news post says they are pretty much done with development so it shouldn't be too long.
Satvia - 75x/75x/50x Launches Dec. 11th. Rates are pretty high though, that's the only thing.
Personally I'd be ok with both, but let me know what you guys think ~
i started limit ro already and i'll give some thoughts
got to like 68ish as a knight
basicallly pros are that it's extremely new and no imbalanced shit. donate items aren't OP LOLOLOL
cons
it's dead ( like 50 players on when i was on, 9 pm pst.) i kind of dislike a server which has only 50-70 people on, it gives it a dead feel
however, the server is new and 70 people online in 1 month isn't bad. just testing and giving you guys feedback, i'll play some more and if we don't go to it i'll switch servs with you guys
on the topic of @commands, i'm not sure what people would like. i'm really open to @commands as long as autoloot is included. the most fun on a server i ever had was when @warp was enabled on a low rate server, it was pretty hilarious lol. and it had free healer, so for the first time in my life it was actually fun leveling an undergeared monk
I agree that a TL server would be awesome, but only if it had a lot more than 30 people on at a time... which is what I imagine would happen. I think the best option right now is to join an already established server that is well populated. I think we would all prefer a server that just opened, but I can't imagine that we will fine a well populated one.
On December 05 2010 06:11 Samp wrote: so whos gonna be the person whos gonna choose where we all go?
I think its already decided by the mass going to limit
there isn't really a consensus atm
i tried dreamer ro low rate and it's pretty cool, 300-400 people on 8/8/8 rates or something like that. most @ commands (autotrade/mi/whosells/autoloot)
So it looks like I need to start over on limit. Can somebody tell me what jobs are the most challenging/ have a lot of tricks to them? Looks like champions do, but any others? I tend to get bored easily with the noob friendly classes.

that Celestia server actually seems pretty good, especially considering its starting fresh. Looks like they're waiting to reach a certain amount of registered members before opening.
pick a server that's nicer to play in please ;; 7/7/5 is way too low and i really don't want to start over with those rates, especially if there isn't like 700+ people consitently on to make it worth it
until then i'm screwing around on essence/rebirth which aren't really RO considering the amoutn of customizations they have. it's not really "RO" as you know it but it's a lot more fun in its own way.
I've been lurking this forum for months whitout feeling the need to register. I've been close many times, but whitout results This thread gave me the final push.
I started playing RO a long time ago. First at loki(?), but I didn't want to pay a montly fee so I quited. Eventually I found out about private servers and I've since then played on low-rate to superhigh. I'll be posting later on, when I've installed and registered and such.
The best times I had on RO were starting a server, since everyone is low level, lots of partying and lots of users online. Then again, I got bored once I got my gears and 9x trans, and didn't want to make more classes.
Also, don't know if I ever want to repeat this, but does anyone remember the times to trying to get gears and levels before the first woe? I had more stress at those times than at any other time in my life haha.
i'd rather not but if the majority goes then i'll go
i'd prefer a 500-600+ pop server, any rates is fine. i'd even go high rate at this point, i just want a populated server without totally crazy donation
player wise it seems that there are a toooon of vendors, seems decently lively. doesn't feel like a 600 pop server but i just started like level 76 monk atm
i'd prefer this over limit ro, not sure about eternity ro. i say we have a vote on low rate or med rate
good donation items, not op
theres multiclient
i like this server so far, not sure exactly how woe/pvp/parties are
i love ragnarok. Started off on legend RO before it died, now on destina ro, but i don't think i'll mind switching over to a new server. just give me a week so that my winter break starts.
Tell me when you guys are fully funded + levelled + geared and i'll join (dw it will take me like, 4 days to be 99/70 with all my macc's, mules and gear required)
God! So many times I've told myself, "Ok I'm going for transendance now!" Then end up at level 95~ish and get shit bored cus this is when the real grindfest starts! Heck, last time around, once I hit 90+ with my priest and it started getting slow, I rerolled agi crusader to have a marc card farming char and got him to 88 in 2 days^^ RO is freakishly easy when you know all the tricks

buddy
if you think 95-99 is a drag in 50/50 then low rates will kick u in the nuts

it takes 4 hours maximum to get a priest to 99 o_o
Is there a reason why I can't turn the "chat" off? As in pressing enter to get rid of typing. I'd like to be able to have more than just my function keys for hotkeys =\

battle mode changed a bit, so you dont need to use it anymore
use f12 to set hotkeys, and there's a setting on game options where you can assign hotkeys there
Ya, but what I'm saying is that i usually like to set 1-6, q-y hotkeys in my 2 and 3 hotbars. Except, since chat is "always" on, I can't use them since it thinks im typing.

it's not always on anymore i think? you always need to press enter to type something. the keyboard icon on the top right of the chatbox should have an X through it, and it turns on when you press enter or something.
are the guilds still up? i might return to the realm of Rune Midgard after 2 years of Exploring other worlds, mainly Koprulu Sector Dominion colonies and the divided planet of Atreia
Hello :D Thought i'd post this to all old EternityRO players (I am one of them).
There's a very good mid/low rate server (10/10/5 dynamic rates) called Unending Voyage, it's been up for about 3 months now.
The population isn't too large (about 300+-), though they recently introduced WoE:SE (First SE WoE was this weekend) so this will probably increase the population a bit and hopefully bring new guilds to the server.
Hopefully you're interested, register at : www.uv-ro.com
If you end up trying give me a PM here at TL and I'll try to help you out in game with some basic gear and zeny.
