Because Ashe has boomerangs to throw, and has damage output to match a Trist, and has a comparable damage insta-nuke.
Ashe's range is comparable to Trist's from early on; the difference is only a few pixels, and not big enough to consistently do hit-and-runs with, especially against a good Trist who knows he only has to bide his time. To that end I'd be surprised if Sivirs can take on a good Trist, but I don't play either consistently so I'm not gonna comment on that. I do know that a Sivir should be destroyed by any competent Ashe. There is pretty much nothing Sivir can do against a decent Ashe.
Ashe vs Trist is unfortunately a slugging fest, but one that Trist has an advantage with because she can damage healing and has a slow/nuke that does good damage if you get caught by it. And at level 6 EA and cannon both do comparable damage, so you're still stuck in a slugfest. Of course if Trist gets even 1 level of attack speed buff (as she should) you'll get outdps'd like 2:1... and most Trists open Vamp Scepter so you stand no chance in attrition. I've not seen if getting Vamp on Ashe alleviates some of the durability problems, but trying to open Catalyst will get you killed at least once, and outleveled/outfarmed by far (not to mention Trist already farms faster than Ashe). I have yet to try Regrowth 1v1 against Trist, because I dislike going solo mid vs Trist with Ashe so I always try to pass it on to someone else, and hopefully I can keep it that way.

On an unrelated note, I fell out of my chair laughing yesterday when I six-shotted (3 spells + attacks) a 200 cs Trist last night with a Lichbane-only Nidalee. Ridiculous burst damage.

Man, almost every single game played today was with mordekaiser on one side or another, none of them was good :| I wonder if that was just the players (like the flood of ufo corkis that sucked lol) or there's something wrong with this char. I'm too greedy to buy it to test myself ;p

I just got really pissed cuz I entered a premade with a friend and played 2 games in which I was the only one each time to have more kills than deaths and 2 more kills then deaths, seems whenever I get out into a premade my team feeds like hell no matter how good they are T_T

No, they really weren't. Because her mejai had no stacks and she had 88 AP which amounts to about +100 dmg per throw. I was a 5-1 mundo in that game, who ended up losing because it was like a 2v5 game. Me and Zerg_RUS as Mundo and Cho doing all the dps, while our Veigar/Nidalee/Sivir flailed about doing very little.

I love how sometimes I'll go 7-0 and dominate the game so hard that when I decide to sell all my items, buy two boots and intentionally feed for the rest of the game the other team still can't win.
Yeah, that happened today.

Hey everyone, I'm a fairly new LoL player; happened upon this thread just a few days ago, sounded fun so I gave it a try. I played DotA for a long time and I have to say that in my opinion, LoL is far superior in every way.
Anyways, I played with the weekly free characters until I had enough to buy Ashe (seemed like a good choice as the Drow Ranger was my first choice in DotA) and so far I feel I have done well. I stand at 16 wins, 9 losses, 256 kills, 91 deaths, and 245 assists. I worry though that this may be only because I have been matched against terrible players lol.
I have recently run into a problem of sorts. I wanted to have a tank character so I could fill the role in case no one else in the pubs I play in wanted to, so I purchased Amumu.I found this guide on leaguecraft and tried it out. The build it gives starts with a Heart of Gold and then moves to Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi and next revolves around stacking sunfire capes, with deviations for Thornmail or Banshee's Veil if needed. I found myself feeling extremely uncomfortable with it. I'm not sure if the build isn't viable or maybe I'm just approaching it incorrectly.
So if anyone has any experience with Amumu and has some good nice tanking builds for him and even helpful tips in general I'd love to hear all about it =D

You'll hear this a lot but if you want to be a cheap tank who is extremely effective then go for alistair... he's only 450IP I believe and he is quite simply the best tank initiator in the game.
I haven't played much Amumu because I rarely find an amumu on the other team who is effective, he's a good initiator but after his ult is blow he hasn't got much left to dictate a fight

Why does everyone call him Alistair? It's AliSTAR, with no I, but everyone fucking does it.
Also if you play Alistar be prepared to win while never getting a kill.

Alistar is 1350IP.
I play alistar. I usually go around like 1-3-high assist number.
He's fun to play. :D
I've went like 4-0-9 as alistar though but that's usually not a good thing hahaa. Just learn to last hit with head butt if you really really want kills as a tank...
