I'm not shooting for a 40-minute game as Janna, because I'm just as strong a pusher as I am a defender, but that entails we have a strong initiating tank and an actual tower-killer. Shaco Gragas Panth Janna gives us no tank no pusher gg.
Fortunately in that game they were stupid as hell and kept getting ganked, so we got free towers all the way down to their nexus.
Janna just *can* extend a game to 40 minutes, and she pretty much always will if she really wants to. And if your team setup is going to get fucked by that, then either you need a more balanced team, or you can roll the die for loading screen and hope to god they don't have a Janna. It's pretty simple like that.
Edit: It's also why I heavily advocate nerfing Howling Gale in one way or other; either nerf her pushing/defending ability, or nerf it so it's not also a free team stun. But they're only nerfing EotS, for TT, so she's going to be the same for the time being.

yea, when I was matched up vs. Janna mid, it was a really big WTF moment when she was one shotting creep waves at like, level 7 with just doran's ring or something with HG. ability's too good.
|
Solo Janna is too selfish though, IMO, mainly because a solo Janna will usually not prevent the other player(s) from farming. It's why I'll only solo if I'm 1v2, because then their two will be half-farmed anyways, unless they also have a really selfless guy, but I find that's almost never the case.
Edit: By the way little-known mechanic that I abuse with Janna, is that as long as you get the creep kill, it appears you get exp for it no matter where you are. That's why when I drop a Gale off and wander off I'm still leveling, and is why I become really high level really fast.
|
yea, I didn't think it was a good idea to have her mid or anything, it just struck me how powerful the ability is that she could one shot creep waves that early with basically no AP.
|
With no AP at level 9 (level 5 Gale) even in a side lane she gets it fast enough to one-shot creep. You have to keep building AP to stay ahead of the ranged creep as the game goes on, though.
The Janna that beat me this morning build CD instead, however, opting instead to rapidly dual-shot creep, which works too but is less mobile. To each their own ;p

o yea!? well I can 1 shot creep waves at level 6 with Pantheon wif mah ult! \o

pft i bet the cannon creep still lives :p
|
it lives through Janna's shit too though :p. And at level 16, it doesn't :p. And when I have like, 150ish AD, it dies in one heartseeker :p
in conclusion p p

first off: akali. lol ive been doing this for the past week. sion: did not know he killed shit and gained hp. pirate: used right his ult is as snipish as karthus, but more viable in team fights as you dont have to channel. morde: does a fuckton of dmg with no dmg items. eve: sucks hairy balls. but was fun to stack sunfire capes on shaco: ganking at level 1-2 is really easy TF: stacked deck harass is fun. most people are clueless as to why you hit so much and only run when you have a card over ur head warwick: does not like enemy cleanse and exhaust =(

I get confused by AD vs. AP Kat.
AD has better bouncing blade, AP has better shunpo. AP seems a little bit more effective at scaling up your ult (blasting wand (860) = pickax (975) in terms of ult damage, more or less), BUT, AD has the benefit of using a stat with base growth, so by level 18, you need to account for over 100 AD (~157 AP) in just base stats before you'll start to feel the benefit of better scaling on the ult.
So like, since BB hits 6 targets and Shunpo only hits 1, and your ult scaling is likely to be better on AD unless you're around like, 10K gold in the game or something, it seems to me that AD is the way to go... Yet, AP has the nice little caveat that rylai's and HG are sick with her, while most AD items are just boosting your ult and BB. I dunno, I'm not a kat player, but looking at it on paper, it's always seemed to me like AD should be better.

I dunno, I'm not a kat player, but looking at it on paper, it's always seemed to me like AD should be better. going AD kat means you have to go out of your way to get survivability items. AP its built in (rylais+haunting). also, lotus only scales to dmg from items so its not base stat growth either. not to mention haunting guise's leech is actually REALLY useful on kat since KI+BB does enourmous amount of damage on minions and leeches so much.
the key difference maker is shunpo. when you have rylais and haunting guise, shunpo hits really fucking hard. rylais also makes shunpo a great engagement spell when your team runs out of a bush and you are able to flash+shunpo to snare someone. voracity chaning shunpos is probably where i get most of my damage. during big teamfights, lotus almost always ensures you get at least 3 assists. that means almost 4 consecutive shunpos with no channeling times. BB has a short channel/long animation so its not easy to just chain them. there are so many times when at the end of a team fight there is a nice line of low health heroes running away and i just chain shunpos to each to get an easy triple kill.
also AP=more survivability because of KI. to make full use of BB, you have to use KI to proc BB's max dmg. for AP kat, BB isn't as useful so you can proc KI for constant 30% dmg reduc during teamfights.
judging kat solely based off of lotus is bad. more often then not, you're not gonna get a full lotus off, let alone a perfect one on 3 heroes. so the damage has to come from elsewhere and IMO shunpo>BB during big teamfights.
that being said, i've seen AD kats and i've seen them work. solanir runs some weird ass sunfire+ bf sword kat that doesn't make sense IMO. but he plays a lot more farmy (he runs fucking exp runes and goes 9/0/21 on kat -_____-) so doesn't make as much as an impact during the early midgame. but i've seen him pop out of nowhere at lvl 17 with 2 bf swords and a sunfire while i'm running around at lvl 12 with a haunting guise trying to gank people. elementz ran AD kat but he ended up getting haunting guise anyways. statikk gets mallet for health but that's a bad item for kat imo. kobe runs almost the same build as me (except he ALWAYS gets sorc boots) but goes even further with AP runes. i guess it's all up to style.

lost to a sunfire cape stacking kat earlier who constantly red potted.
it was an organized tryhard team with janna, ez, jax, and ryze.... but still :[
