I just jumped into the game and tried it just to see how it worked. A shrine maiden-like character was on top of the list of characters, so i only tried that one so far.  After noticing how absurdly 'small' she is, i moved on to see smaller projectiles get taken out by shooting the fairy like creatures, to discover 'special' (?) attacks (standard button x), which seem to destroy everything, and get overwhelmed by enormous amounts of enemy projectiles. :') I haven't gotten any further than stage 6 of the 3rd difficulty level, so i must be quite the noob for most of you. I mostly try to hit as much as i can, and avoid as much as i can. Are there any tips for beginners like me? For example, i saw some guy (he seemed amazingly good) on youtube sometimes get something like 80ish combo or so. Because i never get past 15ish, i wonder how to reach that amount. I'd appreciate any tips anyone can give me. Thanks in advance  | ||

i suggest you start with touhou 6 first because touhou 9 (PoFV) is a mashup of previous games + a duel danmaku thing. actually touhou 6 is pretty hard. try 10 first. and bombs are pretty good. | ||

Also try not to use bombs against bosses. Doing so ruins your bonus points. More points = more lives = more surviving. | ||

Another thing I thought of. When multiple enemies are shooting straight at you, move as little as possible to one direction. Like just tap down on your arrow key a couple times a second. This will let you dodge the bullets, graze them (which helps with points again) as well as prevent your screen from getting clogged up with bullets. | ||

It's there for that purpose and will help you work on later levels without having to play through the first few stages every time. Watching replays of other players can also help you recognize patterns that you have difficulty with and ways to address them. | ||

Also, was poking through C83 preview thread, saw a group that I did not recognise, clicked on xfd, what do you know, its by tsunamix who contributes to cclays.
