The arrange CDs seems the most risky, since it's easier to convince a non-fan to buy the comic/illustration portion of this bundle, and unless it's someone like Caller (which doesn't exist irl of course), the arrange CDs won't be sought after.
Although that line up of comic artists/illustration artists is pretty stellar, a quick browse and I recognize quite a few (including one banpai akira, the touhou vania artist), but I guess that's to be expected for any toranoana compilation thingie though.
(Liz Tora makes me squee tho)
no itsi a game
its a game (dragon quest) + comics + arrange cds + illustrations + a keychain for 2000 yen
So a few months ago I decided I would try importing some Touhou music. Ended up getting 2 Demetori CDs and added on a Tutti Sound CD that seemed interesting from some brief spot checks on youtube.
I finally got around to listening to the Tutti Sound album a few weeks ago during the drive down the coast of CA and back up, and wow this CD was totally worth every penny. Made the trip so epic.

and wanted it on his iPod. His musical taste is pretty weird for a ten-year old... he listens to all sorts of music that one doesn't really associate with when one is ten years old. A few days ago, I heard him listening to Ezel Ash again, and I was like, "Why exactly do you like that song?". He said (in that roundabout ten-year-old way) that he likes the idea of an instrumental, and then asked me if I could help him find some more songs like that.
Gentlemen. This is the hour. The moment is upon us... to create a new Touhoufag.
When he comes over next weekend, I'm gonna do my best to introduce him to new Touhou songs. Like I said, his taste in music is pretty odd, but I think he's a fan of the piano-with-guitar style. I'm gonna try and see if he likes minami from IOSYS, but other than that, I'm not really sure what other similar circles (or just particular songs) might interest him. Therefore, I am enlisting the services of the TLTHDT army to assist me!
Here are the qualifications for circles/songs:
Must be instrumental. No vocals, unless they're just a chorus and not actual singing.
Priority is on songs with a mixture of piano and guitar. I don't want CROW'SCLAW-level guitar, but it can't really be Maroon 5-level either. If that particular mixture isn't possible, then stuff along the lines of minami and xi-on.
If there are any vocals, they must be done in good English. Those are hard to find, but I bet he'd like some of them (particularly T. Stebbins).
The lolis are not relevant, only the songs. My plan is to eventually try and get my stepbrother to become a Sanae fanboy, just to piss off Caller, but that's not an issue for the moment. Therefore, don't recommend thirty different arrangements of Desire Drive or whatever, because he doesn't get that the songs are tied to characters and that might confuse him into thinking every song is the same. ._.
Oh, so this is why people are listing so much music.
Well idk if these are "metal" enough for him to dislike, but
I understand he's 10 though, so his understanding of music probably isn't that great. What I mean is, if he likes piano/guitar, he will probably also like songs that have a similar style/feeling to it as those that choose piano/guitar to bring out the best of the song despite it not having exactly a "real" guitar/piano instrumentation.
@yoshi, yup when we say we like ZUNpets, we mean everything that comes with them, and we certainly don't mean actual trumpets (though those are awesome too, just in a different way...).
@Dulluhan That sounds amazing. Everything is made better with touhou, lol. I would reccomend T-NODE I & II, two albums that share the circle name. Uniquely instrumented music, be it classical or synthesized. Best listened to intently while not doing much else. Actually this applies to all touhou music, so whenever I listen to a full album (as opposed to random songs I youtube), I actually concentrate on the music as opposed to just listening.
Also, in regards to piano playings, here's a long overdue start. I actually downloaded the sheet as soon as it was available on youtube, but never got the point where it was presentable. + Show Spoiler [Night Sakura of Dead Spirits] +
Lol at playing in pajamas, the camera caught a bit of that.
Oh yea, D3, I REALLY like your flawless clothing of the celestials playing. In general, I only know a small part of the melody, but the rest is amazing as well.

FUCK i'm dead last in this competition. D3 has what, 4 or more videos? Me, 1 unfinished one. Chrono, now 2.
Damn, I was thinking of doing that song too I'll probably still learn it sometime but you know, i'm trying not to overlap with anyone's. (Least unless it's a very different arrange).

LOL way to play my 5th song; I'm pretty much done with it except recording and now working on #6
I picked the #2 sheets, though, since I wanted to take it easy for a while and they looked easier
So reminder that J-Fest is in 2 days on Saturday (another 1 day event)
J-Fest will be held on July 14, 2012 at Douglas College, New Westminster, BC and will run from 10:00am – 6:00pm. Admission is $10 at the door. Children 6 & under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Douglas College is located just northeast of the New Westminster skytrain station.
Any potential lurkers in Vancouver area, hope to see you there =P Dunno if you're going Chrono, but if you are, feel free to drop by our table and say hi We don't have new stuff yet though (3 conventions in a row wtf --; )
Oh but it's packaged together with the Tribute Arts 1 illustrations book, not actually sold separately. (I believe the book itself contains full-size page versions of the art used on the tarot cards though, which is awesome)
And yes Caller, I do realize not much thought was put into the tarot card symbolizations There's basically zero symbolism, just 100% based on character imagery. But still awesome tho~
