I was curious so I went to check the subreddit... He also uploaded a photo of the touhouvania illustrations artbook which he probably brought from our table lolol
Anyway, that little artwork thing was based on a spontaneous idea I had. I quickly noticed early in the day there was quite a lot more touhou cosplays than normal (due to the SDM cosplay group), and that one of them had their own table selling their artwork (no touhou stuff unfortunately). I stole that red sheet of paper from my sister's table and wrote HI TLTHDT, and went after every touhou cosplay scavenger hunt style. The aim was to have each cosplayer doodle something on the paper, and write a message if they can't. Then each cosplayer poses for 1 last shot with the sign. The end result was the above photo I posted.
It definitely made the experience a lot more interesting than just "hi can I take your photo? *snap photo* "thank you" *peaces off*
Oh yeah, and we had a 1 hour photoshoot with the SDM group, that was so cool. Too bad there was no rumia.

@D3 I wasn't cosplaying. @Komajou Densetsu II Illustration Book wow, that's pretty unexpected and also impressive to see here. @Red sheet with touhou doodles, dkpl's impromptu masterpiece.
During the day, unbeknownst to me some (awesome) camera setting was causing a short clip to be recorded for every photo. The result: + Show Spoiler +

oh fuck, chrono, lol, You have inadvertently exposed me in some of those shots TT lol
Ok, I haven't weeded out any of the bad shots for this photobucket album, so here's all 202 of the photos I took for this con: http://s194.photobucket.com/albums/z45/darkinpole/Vancouver Mini Comi 2012/

Wow so about half the people you got could draw quite well o.o Well they're all anime fans, I guess (And most of the drawings were probably from girls ya?)
That's pretty awesome dkpl, makes things more interesting for cosplayers too instead of "sure take a photo of me and gtfo you creepy stalker"
WHY NO RUMIA
@dkpl
Wow so this MiniComi is home to the university's anime club or something? And so the thing you went to was Anime Revolution? J-Fest is another event on July 14, how's it different?
So it looks like this is the 2nd one... how big is it so far?
Also for Anime Revolution the VA for Diethard from Code Geass showed up! <3
Anime Art Wars – Participants are shown a picture under a certain time limit. Whoever replicates it the closest within that time limit wins. This activity focuses on detail replication where pictures come in easy, medium and hard levels. Three minutes are allotted for easy pictures, five minutes for medium and seven minutes for hard.
LOL that sounds epic. I used to be good at drawing but stopped practicing. But I'm still good at drawing from reference lol, I might have had a chance at that X)
Note: Confused if MiniComi is the name of the event, or both the event and the place >><

MiniComi is the name of this event
Next week I think is J-Fes, then following is Summer-Fes? I think? I forget
Then Cos and Effect in August TT Completely swamped this summer

Oh kekek
Hm so chrono and dkpl went together? You guys both live in vancouver?
Hm was confused about Anime Revolution, it says it was July 7th o.o

we're not going to revolution, it's too expensive. I have no idea when it is, if it's on the same weekend, then even more lol
edit: quick google says August 17-19?
Also yeah, we're the only Vancouverites it seems TT. Everyone lives in east coast and goes to AN it seems...
But this vancouver cosplay group saves the day :D

As cons go MiniComi is quite small, just an artists + doujins (inspired by Comiket in Japan) market taking 1 ballroom up. But there are plenty of people and cosplayers, also admission for MiniComi is free, which is nice. There are like 5 cons this year, which pretty nuts (dkpl thinks that is too much and I am inclined to agree), compared to what, 3 last year (minicon, cos and effect, was there AE that year?), and 1 for the years before. Too much money to attend and buy stuff, though good for just hanging out I suppose.
Minicomi was at UBC (University of British Columbia), which is pretty much the most common place for anime conventions in Vancouver.
Also, we weren't expecting many touhou cosplayer, because there weren't many last year (4 at minicomi, 2-3 more at cos and effect). Since Vancouver is a small city compared to LA, Toronto or Boston, a full group seemed impossible.

Sorry! In truth, I had a slight inkling that that might happen. I wanted to get a shot the photographers and the photoshoot in general. If you want, I can take down the photos that have you in them (though the video is still there).

s'ok I don't really care to be honest, just as I was watching the video, I was expecting myself to show up anytime, and yup

Checkpoint!
Reading some more of the Scarlet-Stained Memoir. I've advanced from the point where + Show Spoiler +Farmer begins playing R.I.S.K. with the Scarlets to where + Show Spoiler +Nathaniel asks for Farmer to recover Equitas after being attacked by an unknown entity in Voile. .
+ Show Spoiler [Thoughts on transpired events] +- Once again, I'd like to take the opportunity to say: Fuck R.I.S.K. Fuck that stupid piece of fucking shit game. I'll note, however, that only Farmer and Adam are even remotely competent at the game. You ALWAYS take Australia first. Adam knows that Farmer is going for the turn-one Australia capture, and still can't break his defenses. Flandre is retarded for going all-in on Europe, and Cirno putting every token on Iceland is... well, we can't really expect miracles from her anyway. Credit to Flandre for destroying the fucking game, though. The best use of her power I've ever heard. Good work, kiddo.
- Suspicions confirmed: Equitas is Justice. That sword is what Nathaniel wants. I find it highly unlikely, however, that Remilia simply "found" it. I'll talk about this more in the questions portion of this post.
- As if there weren't enough confusing things going on in this mansion, now we have Flandre pulling the whole "cryptic warning" cliche. Somehow, those spectacles react to Flandre and temporarily negate her insane tendencies in exchange for near omniscience, not to mention having the ability to detect Sakuya's time manipulation. As one of the readers stated, those spectacles likely "have some kind of negation/perception/clarification hax." A sane, pseudo-clairvoyant Flandre would be a potent ally... but unfortunately, the spectacles are no longer in Farmer's possession. It might be a good idea to investigate those glasses further when we have time, and perhaps figure out how we can use them to our advantage.
I think that while Flandre's trance-form provided typically vague allusions to what is in store for Farmer, her warnings are still meaningful, especially the part about Fate. She says "Resist your fate, resist with every fiber of your soul." This leads me to believe that Remilia has far more in store for us. We should be wary of the Scarlett Mistress from now on.
Also, lol potential Cirno love interest??????
- Twelve Koakumas. With hive minds. And all of them want Farmer's dick. -_- It's also good to note that Farmer was warned against temptation by Far Seer Flandre, and considering Koakumae (plural form?) are succubi, that's pretty much temptation manifest. I'd watch myself around the little imps if I were Farmer.
... Is there anyone in the mansion we SHOULDN'T be wary of? Patchouli seems to be the sole reasonable person in the mansion.
- Speaking of Patchouli, that conversation with her was invaluable. We now know that Farmer is in some time period after 1998, because that's when the Scarlet Devil Mansion first appeared in Gensokyo, for reasons unknown even to the genius librarian. It might be just an arbitrary date, but 1998 is when Mystic Square was released, so take that as you will. Regardless, we now have a where and a (relative) when. These clues might help Farmer understand how and why he got to Gensokyo.
+ Show Spoiler [New questions + puzzling over them] ++ Show Spoiler [Remember, no answers please] +- The biggest questions so far have to do with Nathaniel, so I'll focus on him for this entry. This man is clearly no ordinary
magician engineer. He holds three artifacts of apparently great power: Seraphim, the revolver; his broken-down pocket watch; and supposedly Equitas, the dragonblade. At this point, he sort of reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry. I'll break down my questions about him piece by piece:
- The pocket watch, while broken, is priceless to Nathaniel. Even so, it isn't exactly sensible for Nathaniel to travel all the way to Gensokyo (we still don't know how he got here, by the way, or who his contact is!) just to repair a trinket. Creator or not, there has to be some better reason for him to be in the mansion. Nathaniel says that when repaired it will be "one of the greatest watches in the world". Unless you're unhealthily obsessed with engineering (you never know with this guy), you don't make such a grandiose boast about what is essentially a plain old watch. If anything, the completed watch most likely holds some magic of its own.
- Seraphim intrigues me. Putting aside the fact that it's a revolver that shoots fucking explosions, one thing in particular stands out A LOT.
[... ]the angel. Placed, or perhaps carved near the back of the gun is the likeness of a beautiful female angel with six wings. Two run along the entire top length of the weapon, two fan out near the hammer, and two curve downwards towards the grip. The way she’s intricately carved, you can’t tell if she’s merely resting on the gun, if she’s guiding the gun, or if she is the gun. Her eyes are two brilliant sapphires looking straight down the barrel. It’s a gun that radiates beauty without sacrificing any functionality; a true weapon.
Putting aside the bolded portion for the moment, take a look at the physical description of that angel. A female, blue-eyed Seraph angel with six wings.
Sound familiar?
- Equitas, the dragonblade, is perhaps the most important item in the story. Nathaniel claims to have lost it, and searching for it has been his primary reason for staying in the mansion. Meanwhile, Flandre currently possesses the weapon, and claims that Remilia "found it". This is, as I stated before, a highly suspect claim. Of course, that's pretty much what happened according to Flandre, since she doesn't know any better, but my guess is that Remilia has one of two motives behind the blade (disregarding how she found it).
Firstly, it may be a test, similar to the one imposed upon Farmer via Meiling. Remilia has hidden the blade, and is tasking Nathaniel with finding it again. Whether this scavenger hunt is for Remilia's amusement or for petty vengeance remains to be seen. The second possibility is that Remilia stole the blade and is not tasking Nathaniel with locating it, but is instead making sure Nathaniel never recovers it. Perhaps she sees some hidden power within Equitas and deems the engineer unworthy of wielding it.
- Either way, I have a theory about the three artifacts that Nathaniel possesses. I believe that, at least for the two weapons, the items embody some sort of power, reflected in the crests put upon them. Seraphim has already been discussed; my guess is that Sariel is linked to the gun in some way, and the revolver's user can channel the angel's power. Equitas, on the other hand, represents dragons. Adam, a dragon, is in co-possession of the blade. Is it possible that Adam... is Equitas? We don't know how long ago Nathaniel arrived at the mansion, or how recently he lost the dragonblade. Could Remilia have sealed Equitas with Flandre, a being who can certainly deal with a dragon if necessary? Is Adam not a half-vampire at all, but the dragonblade personified? Is this why Adam claims Flandre "controls" him?
- Of course, that leaves the pocket watch a mystery... but until it's crafted once more, we don't really have any clues about it anyway. The only things we know about the watch are that it has massive potential, and that some entity attacked Nathaniel for it. To disrupt the work on the watch, to prevent Equitas from being recovered... we can't say just yet. Until we know the identity of that malevolent presence, at least.
- Finally, we come to Nathaniel himself. Somehow, he (a regular guy) has managed to call out one of THREE favors from Patchouli. How would one be able to do that, especially someone who is neither wrapped in plot armor (Reimu or Farmer), nor from Gensokyo? Perhaps it means nothing, but it's certainly interesting.
- Nathaniel wants Farmer to retrieve Equitas for him. Personally, I think it is best to trust him and get the sword for him, despite the consequences that may arise. One of the readers put it far better than I could have, so I'll take the liberty of copy/pasting it here.
We need all the trustworthy allies we can find here, and I see no reason to think Nathaniel doesn't need the same. As-is, we're both in a position to give something the the other needs or wants, and cannot get themselves. He wants his sword, we want answers, and we both need allies. If we're going to trust each other, someone has to make the first move. As we are apparently in the best position to do so, it may as well be us.

Mini-Checkpoint!
Reading some more of the Scarlet-Stained Memoir. I've advanced from the point where + Show Spoiler +Farmer agrees to assist Nathaniel in finding Equitas to where + Show Spoiler +Cirno is found in the washroom .
This'll be a short update. No questions this time, just observations.
+ Show Spoiler [Thoughts on transpired events] +- Firstly, I'm dying to read the spinoff of ASSM that U. N. Owen promised to write to celebrate the 100th update of the series. It shall be entitled: "General Cirno's Last Stand: Remember Icyland!". I can't wait~
+ Show Spoiler +
- So perhaps my theory on Nathaniel's weaponry holding the power of dragons and angels themselves was false. Apparently, he just put exquisite detail, time, and care into crafting them. That doesn't mean that they don't still harbor some magical abilities, though.
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/d4yQ8.jpg) I'm not insinuating anything here. I just like the picture.
- This "game" that Nathaniel speaks of... It sounds like something Remilia would do, but on an unreasonably high level. I mean, at this point, Remilia looks like the antagonist of the story, but I doubt even she would endanger Ran Yakumo. As powerful and brash as she is, she isn't dumb enough to send Yukari into a murderous rampage. Which brings us back to the thought that it's the mansion that seems off. The building itself is cursed... but if so, how do Remilia, Sakuya, and the rest "play" the game? How do they win, if they never leave?
...Welcome to the Hotel California Scarlet Devil Mansion?
+ Show Spoiler +
- Probably the most interesting development is Farmer's awakening as a scryer. It's a damned useful ability to have in this situation, even if it means the Moon and Wood signs are worthless to him now.
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/htdsu.gif) Yep, this one is completely irrelevant as well.
- I was doing some math while reading.
+ Show Spoiler [This] + plus + Show Spoiler [This] + plus + Show Spoiler [This] + equals + Show Spoiler [This] + Holy shit, now that I think about it, that chorus actually describes Cirno perfectly at this point in the story.
+ Show Spoiler [NOT THE STRONGEST LOLOLOLOL] +
