Savior winning Starleague three times in a row is a slim chance for the exact reasons you provided. There is this saying in Korea about the two major leagues. -"The Stongest wins MBCgame, and the Destined wins Starleague." This sarcastically points out MBCgame's bland league maps, favoring the "stable" players with no particular style. (I'd say it's different with savior, but we can agree to disagree on Savior.) Straleague's matches are more often unpredictable. And, YES!! creativity is the only mean to outlast anything in this scene. Let progamers be progamers, give them something creative, unimaginable maps, and see what they do with it. I support creativity 100%. 2. Yes. The reason savior is not receiving much publicity does have less to do with MBCgame, than his style. However, that is the shortcoming of MBCgame. Progamer plays to win. Savior played to win. If that turns out to be boring, it's the map, the commentating, and poor media coverage. I can understand Savior's playstyle can be boring to many(no I am not one of them, but again we can agree to disagree on Savior ), but that's where the broadcasting station's magic begins. One drastic difference I see between TL, and Korean community sites is the affability towards goodfriend, light, and jju. They are not as popular here as they are in Korea because of the language barrier. They started to gain popularity with Starleague commentators and Ongamenet media coverage. Acknowledging that their matches does not draw as much interest as other more popular progamers, Ongamenet went out of their way to advertise them in commentations bringing up funny stories, and renaming their "boring playstyle" as a whole new unique trait of their own as they were suggested by the fans. So in result everyone started talking about them more, making more funny photoshop images and so on. That is the real power Ongamenet holds, and without a doubt the progamers appreciate it. That's where my hopeless frustration for MBCgame kicks in. Being its fan for as far back as I can remember, they never stood up to Ongamenet, but comforted in being a copycat. I don't even like Savior that much(for different reasons than you proposed). But can't tell him to lose an interesting game, when he wins boring games. So if MBCgame doesn't make news about Savior this season, or any other who wins the league, they have once again failed to be a professional broadcasting station. Ok, I can guess I can see your point :o Although I think some of the nicknames are getting a little bit stupid.. Calling JJu - the zerg with the highest % of 4 pools in progaming I'm pretty sure - 'straight' is an insult to all the non-gay zerg users.. Wait. Non-gay zerg users? ;p (fine fine, there are some, just not jju)

If I remember correctly, he used to always compare SC to boxing (since he used to train to be a boxer or something, I'm really not sure) and he used boxing terms like "straight" and such in interviews.

Well I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me smile. You're interviews are so well done and I love the commentary you throw down at the end. I never really noticed the amateurism of MBC game in terms of locations/commentating and such. Goes to show how much we miss with the language barrier. Thanks again for doing this rinizim. Your work is very much appreciated.

Also, I simply cannot agree that savior is "boring." Watching his games makes me think that this is a guy who really just understands the game, and it's really amazing to see his decisionmaking and game management. It's sort of like watching a zerg version of NaDa, who isn't called "genius" for nothing.

OGN clearly does a better job, and has, than MBC in making its starleague more prestigious. KeSPa is also contributing to the imbalance between leagues with their ranking system. Savior is enjoying a run as dominating as any in the past and the fact that he is ranked #2 is completely ridiculous imo, despite his last few ZvT hiccups. Oh come on, all - and I do mean ALL - he does ZvP is mass sunkens, spores and lurkers and preparing to mass drop with guardians.. That basically eliminates most decisionmaking.. Maybe he's got more of it in ZvT but the way he just abuses swarm/lurker to turtle makes it.. not that fun :[

But watching Savior games often makes me think a lot more. Normally for other games it's purely entertaining, but when you watch Savior you know the remarkable part is not his micro/macro in particular but how he is masterfully controlling the game. So you need to focus more on every little detail and think more about strategic/mental fight. A Boxerrish game vs Savior game, is to me just like watching an English Premier League vs a Series A match.

Muta harass to death, massive lair unit masses to counter FE toss, pure hydra FE rapage (like that game vs pusan on RH in the OSL (or MSL?) quarters... the list goes on. I may have hated July for his dominance over every toss he met during his prime, but the guy at least won with style. Watching savior gay up the main route of passage with an impenitrable sunk lurk wall and drop the toss to death with no consequence and superior maneuverability doesn't take the decision making skill that I know he's capable of. The fact is, he'll never lose to a toss in a series playing like that, so I don't fault him for playing that way. But if you expect me to sit around and pretend I like watching it, you've got another thing coming.

I never really noticed the amateur nature of MBC overall. But even without being able to understand all but a few select phrases, I know that the OGN commentary is always far better. Just from a performance point of view even.
