I wouldn't prefer any Protoss over Patience, but I'd have preferred no Protoss in his group at all, with someone like Gumiho or Byun in instead. I would have taken Rogue over Solar, because Zest has done well against Rogue recently and I don't think Rogue is all that good right now.

Zest should be able to beat Patience, it's the other two I'm worried about.

Rogue's ceiling when he is in form is so much higher than Solar it is not even worthy of discussion. Solar can be sharp he can be on his game and Zest could still beat him.

It's really not that bad of a group compared to what it could have been. This ro16 is really stacked. Also Patience isn't anywhere near as scary for Zest as he used to be. He took a long break at the beginning of this year and he just isn't that good right now. It's gonna come down between Solar and Zest imo. Zest has really good PvZ right now so I think he has a decent shot.

That's the attitude! He will have to play at a level above anything he has done in the last 18-24 months. Even better than the 2 homestory wins and the Land invitational win in August. The top 16 is loaded with sick players!

We need a return to March and April 2016 his last GSL win.

Did you see the match Olli? I did not see Zest playing on any of the 3 streams. The Russian stream had Rogue absolutely destroying Creator. I mean Life vs Lilbow circa 2015 style.

Pughy was doing a different match also. Taketv had Alive vs Gumiho.

About his group in gsl, having patience in there is already pretty lucky overall no? He should be the weakest player in this ro16. I guess Zest would have prefered to play vs terrans other than maru, but all in all it wasn't even possible to get easy groups :D

Zest vs Solar will decide the second place in this group imo, slightly favored for Solar most likely but if Zest is on point it's doable.

Solar is definitely the best zerg out of the four he could have had. He has the weakest ZvP out of them. I doubt Patience has regained his form from 2016 either.

Really it just comes down to if Zest shows up or not, he has doable opponents but his offline form is such a coinflip.

Patience's win rate vs Protoss since the patch is only 44%. He's lost to basically every single top 10 Protoss he has played. Even lost some matches to Has and Trust.

Patience did beat 2 Zergs in his last group. 2-1 over Losira and 2-1 over Scarlett after losing 2-1 to her in his first match. Based on that he could give Solar some trouble if they play.
