Long time fan of yours Tyler. We are all human beings, we go through some crazy shit. Sometimes your body just gives and that's okay. Depression Is a serious matter.

Everyone here knows you have the means to do great things. If the time is not right it's not right, eventually things will realign.

Take a break, figure things out and keep listen to Elliott Smith. I know his music was able to get me through some rough times.

Tyler saying he is suffering from a major depressive disorder honestly does not surprise me. I saw a lot of how I would feel about things in his responses and out look on things. Especially that whole situation with the "wanting to quit" screenshot. A MDD is really is a bitch to deal with. You get yourself feeling good, you start doing well, and your brain just starts fucking with you. You start thinking "will this last" or "when will it all go to shit" and people around you are congratulating you and trying to 'pump you up' and it just makes you feel worse sometimes. Pills help some people but for most people it seems to just make them feel like a shell of who they are.

Eventually I was able to get my mind right and figure out what I needed to do to stay in the right mind set and be happy so I hope that Tyler can do the same. In the end though it comes down more to the individual helping himself than the people around you.

Depression has nothing to do with simply being sad or happy!
It feels weird and is unexplainable if you didnt experience this condition yourself.
It is not as simple as most people think. But of course it is normal that healthy people cant imagine smoehting like this.

Hi Tyler,

You're my favourite protoss player. I know nothing about Brood War and would probably like you even more if I did. You're the reason I watch State of the Game. Sure InControl and Day9 are funny but I seriously think that show would be missing a crucial part of what makes it work without you, so thank you for that. I'm not a highly analytical Starcraft player but I really enjoy watching your games. The "fist of conservative play" really does shine in your play and I've tried to adopt this into my own play.

A lot of people, many that you do not even know, would back you up on anything you did. That's pretty fucking cool. Literally thousands of people would show up if you said you needed help, I know I would. Not many people have that and that's very special. Negative people are always more pronounced because what they say sticks out. So it may seem that many people have doubts about you or whatever. But believe me, there's way, way more people who silently completely support you. I'm one of them. You have so many friends.

You may or may not read this but if you do, know that someone and many more care a lot.

I can't relate to your exact situation as everyone has different problems and different circumstances they are faced with.
I've suffered from depression for most of my life however I won't go into that as this is your thread

I am going through the same thing at the moment. The pills do help but the best thing is to see a clinical psychologist, they really do help a fuck load but then again everyone is different, feel free to pm me if you want to talk with someone facing similar challenges.

As for everyone saying, "chin up" and "be happy" you really have no fucking idea about depression.

Again, seeing a psychologist is best. It is a serious mental illness and is the biggest killer of young people.
