I find it repeatedly amusing that some players think they can stay on top with minimal practice. Idra has said he trains 3-4 hours a day and that may keep him on top of foreigner scene for a while. I don't really blame him for doing that, I know I wouldn't work more than 4 hours a day if I wouldn't have to, but in corporate world its not about talent but hours. Maybe the new team house for EG will force them to have more discipline in practice, seems like Scoots will be cracking the whip a bit

Basically idra's train of thought is, "well i'm not gonna win this so why bother trying"

Idra, if you're reading, Take a break dude, clear your head and think hard about what you want out of the rest of your life, seems you are not happy doing this anymore, and if you are and you want to be successful at it with tourney wins and great performances.. move back to Korea the NA ladder is dragging you down

He seems extremely happy when talking about SC1 though, it's SC2 he seems to hate a lot =/

Maybe he is waiting for HOTS to make as big a judgment as that

I really don't know much about the SC1 community or it's players but was idra in the spotlight as much as he is now? The poor guy has so much pressure on him to win nowadays that he's damned if he does damned if he doesn't.

He doesn't care about the spotlight at all.

He has said many times on SOTG that he simply doesn't find Starcraft 2 to be as fun as SC1.

He is much better at SC2 comparatively to koreans than in SC1, but he still seems to hate the game regardless.

This thread becomes a massive shitstorm after every series that Idra loses. Most of the posts in the past ten pages should be heavily moderated... sure there have been temp bans but there's a lot that shouldn't be left unnoticed. This thread is NOT a balance whine thread, but it certainly attracts these kinds of posts.

Having said that, Idra played decently given his condition. Losing 0-2 to MC isn't a good thing, but the way in which he lost was miles ahead of what he pulled at MLG.

Congrackulations for a good tournament showing

As much as I've heard, he was the best foreigner in the later days, and since he lived in CJ Entus' team-house, he was always expected to crush most other foreigners. He was, however, a B-teamer, and never played any televised games.

As a long time sc1 veteran observer(lol). i can tell you no, he never had that much "pressure" on him, the foreign sc1 community was a lot smaller and a lot diffenrent from nowadays

His ZvT is strong looking, his ZvZ has moments of brilliance, but it is almost like he doesn't know what to build and when in ZvP even when he's wayyyyyyyy ahead.

What else can you make? Lings and hydras would get evaporated by colossi/stalker. Roaches have good health and are cheap.

you must not have been watching ZvPs lately, theres strong compositions vs Protoss. Ling hydra is not it lol.

To people still talking about Losira, he all-in'ed mc and does it almost every game before MC can take a third. Yes, these are in fact all-in and not pressure builds, they are reliant on ending the game and if protoss is able to stabilize and make tech units, he is dead.

From fast roach/ling, to nydus or fast drops, etc.

So yeah, lesson learned for idra, never play macro games against protoss. Find some good all-ins like the nestea spine rush or mass bane drops or something... muta/ling and R/H/C doesn't work against competent protoss able to use blink at a high level.

Never play macro games against protoss?
Sen would like to disagree, while he also complains about Protoss timing pushes he doesnt complain about late game ZvP and he can handle a 200/200 protoss army just fine.

theres a difference between handling european/na protoss and MC lol.

Yeah he did, remember the shitstorm after f91 destroyed him in liquibition? There were other examples as well.

To the guy above, he actually played a televised series (lost 1-2 to some 13 year old korean!)

pressure wise no, he doesn't care about that kind of stuff. But he was considered the best foreigner and a lot of people payed attention to his player.

But I feel his feelings a bit, because in sc1 the skill gap was huge, if you were the better player you would win. In sc2 its not so much because there's so much gimicky things you can do that can be auto loss instantly.

I mean I can understand his feelings I wish half the time that bw had gotten as much if not more esports attention over here then sc2 but oh well sc2 is a good game and I'm pretty sure he likes it but he definitely prefers sc1 which nobody can blame him for ^^.

Agreed and as an MC fan, I was scared multiple times during that short series, it really looked like idra was just completely outplaying him at times. It's not like he was playing really bad or anything, he was putting up a good fight vs the best protoss in the world..

Are you worried about anyone?

"I really don't want to play any protosses and koreans will be very hard"

Proceeds to get the best korean protoss in the world again.

Really think IdrA would have made Ro4~ if he got Ret's bracket place

Hey man, I hope you're right and that he does care, hopefully I am over reacting to the situation. But if you don't love what you're doing as a job, pro-gamer, drive through window, gas jockey, whatever it shows through your work ethic and is not good for your health if you are always upset that you have to go to work knowing that you are gonna hate doing your job.

Anyways, I get the feeling that idra doesn't love his job and it shows through his games and interviews. If I just left half way through a job because I got frustrated for some reason my boss would have my ass.

Maybe EG need to put more responsibilities on it's employees or face consequences no matter how popular you are.

Whatevs to each his own I guess

Wow at this 100% focus and Girlfriend canceling each other bullshit. Wow.
Reality is this, guys: pro sportsmen all over the world has girlfriends. Yes, they have sex. Yes, that takes time. Yes, they even go to see a movie every once in a while. Yes, even SCII pro players need to stand up and go to the store to buy food.

BW is a result of putting youths in near-prisonlike situations and enforcing them to become mechanical monsters. SCII is not that game. Idra does not need to abandon his GF -in fact, I think his playstyle chang is partially thanks to her influence. In MLG, I saw a new Idra in the group plays, but his old style has been staying so long that it crept back. Same in this event. In time, he will stop the old habits, but having a GF can only help by providing a solid background in real life.

Also, I hate myself for GF-ing girlfriends when GF automatically activates the braincells of mine where FFVIII data is "stored". Damn.

Not to open a can of worms but in that interview I saw an extremely polite IdrA. He usually gives a sneer to someone in most of his interviews, but damn, this was awkward to see from Greg. Such a manner, like a little schoolboy.
