As excited as I am this kind of sucks currently. I was one of the older fans that was very outraged and pissed off at how often he left the games just when he gave us so much hope and it got to a climatic point where I hoped with all my heart he'd make another comeback like most professionals do and have done in their careers on more than one occasion. But man, he was the person that got me into sc2 back in the beta days. Knowing he won't be a part of tournaments just hurts this scene for me so bad. I hope he begins casting sooner than later because he has been the best thing to ever happen to this esport, love him or hate him or a mix of both, he's got incredible heart and I always have incredible anxiety watching his games crossing my fingers for him.

Disappointed. I don't really care for the fluff/streaming stuff, and I feel Gregs casting chops are unfortunately pretty limited. Yes he can be the best analytical caster in the world, but I think equally important is to be able to create hype and enthusiasm, which is the pretty much opposite of what Idra is known for. If he goes on to cast major tournaments anyway, he probably won't be able to showcase his personality like he could as a player either.

I hope he finds his place though, and a return to competitive SC2 is never out of the question I guess.

Creating hype and enthusiasm is the job of his would be co-caster

Indeed but try hyping a zvz game where idra says "he could just leave right here" after 5 minutes and a player managed to snipe 2 drones with his zerglings.

It really doesn't work like that though, notice how all the respected analytical casters (Artosis, Wolf, Apollo, Bitterdam) are fully capable of also creating exciting commentary and hyping up games. I can't think of anyone who would be comparable to Idra and his very "dry" style of casting. So unless he can carve out his own niche or really develop his style, Idras casting isn't really comparable to the best of them.

Of course Idra also has the reputation of being one of the biggest players in SC2, which will definitely help him a lot. It is very hard to predict where he will end up, but I still doubt him becoming the main caster of a major tournament.

IdrA has already carved out his own niche, every time he casts theres tons of positive feedback from people who love his casting

I always enjoyed his casting. It's true the caster market is pretty full and he couldn't expect to get to the GSL where the casters are really established, but personally I would love to see him at every other event there is.

There aren't many casters/casting combos I'd tune in for specifically, but IdrA's definitely one of them.

After Idra's Real Talk episode, much respect for him in handling the situation. Wish he had a different view on SC2 as a game. Hopefully he'll become a caster. He'll be the highest skilled caster.

If he goes full time casting the only thing Tastosis would have on him would be chemistry.

I wonder if IdrA will go the same way as Day[9], that is getting his own website and whatnot. The way he spoke of his ideas for content generation seemed to point this way, at least to my eyes.

After watching real talk with JP, I respect idra alot more. That's not to say I didn't before, he really seems to have a decent head on his shoulders.

I just wish he'd play terrran.

He could totally be the negative nancy to Day9's rainbow vomiting persona. Imagine his version of Funday Mondays
