He could literally do whatever he wanted

He could even start up his own team and it would be instantly one of the most interesting teams

Despite IdrA's unparalleled game knowledge and analysis skills compared to other commentators/casters today, I just don't see him become the next Artosis. His ultra anti-hype personality really overshadows what he has to bring to the table in terms of game knowledge. He also stutters often, although I can imagine that going away with some training in broadcasting.

I don't know, I hope he doesn't leave esports, but I also hope that if he doesn't, he really puts his heart into it and does things right this time.

Nobody would disagree he's very monotone, but I would say that he doesn't stutter, and is in fact very articulate.

His casting during dreamhack really convinced me that he has a bright future doing that. It was actually quite funny. Think it was during a naniwa match and apollo/artosis were going buckwild trying to get hype going and then idra just called it and was like "yeah nani is dead - that was a terrible move" or something along the lines. This might not sound very enthustiastic or the sort you'd expect from a caster. But where as A/A just kept trying for the next 10 mins of the match to keep the game interesting by shouting louder and louder, Idra just used that 10 mins of watching nani get crushed to explain why he was loosing, what he shoulda done differently and how you or me as a player should counter ibelieve lategame zvp on a map i cant remember lol. Anyway, I got way more out of listening to idra that i'd ever get from listening to a bunch of needless screaming... GL Idra I'm sure you have lotsa good stuff coming your way soon!

idra´s funday monday #1
play a game as zerg, against t or p.
say your enemy he is just shit,
burn his house,
win the match but leave without gg before your enemy can do :D

but serious.
i love the decision, it was a pain to watch idra play in the last months, at least for me it was. he just seem to be pretty unhappy. i hope he can get new insperation for the game as a caster (:

He has given a lot to esports. Everyone has to remember that he coined the term 'Artosis Pylon'. He already has that legacy. :D

I knew that, but I'd love to see his marine micro in Sc2. His mutalisk control has always been one of the best in the business and I've always been curious as to how that would translate into terran play which is without a doubt the race which benefits the most from micro.

I'd chip in to see a bo9 between idras terran and incontrols zerg

Can we include this in the quotes or something? I think it was pretty nice

+ Show Spoiler +
JP: Do you have anything to say to your fans today?
IdrA: I’d love to thank all the real ones. They are the reason I’m still doing this. When I tweeted, um, about a day after the announcement I tweeted like “Thank you all for your support. I’m not leaving E-Sports.” and the reply, like the feedback of the community was just overwhelmingly positive. […] My fanclub always has been amazing and I appreciate them so much. […] Generally it was just kind and supportive which shocked me because I have a very, very vocal anti-fanbase. The people who don’t like me are very passionate about not liking me and that’s generally what I hear. They are the loud ones. That the people who are actually fans.. I was honestly shocked to see how much positive support came out when I made that tweet and when I discussed other things I was going to be doing, um, and so I just didn’t appreciate them enough or even realize that they exist to that extent that they do or at least forgot about that they exist. So I’d like to give a very big.. just a very big thank you to all of them because they definitely made sure that it was the right decision to stay within E-Sports

It's kind of sad because Idra is retiring. He was a popular figure in starcraft 2 scene.

Man he's only retiring from competitive play. He's staying in the starcraft 2 scene for an indefinite amount of time. He will be casting, doing his own "dailies", streaming, doing tutorial videos, etc. GL GREG!

After watching real talk with JP, I respect idra alot more. That's not to say I didn't before, he really seems to have a decent head on his shoulders.

I just wish he'd play terrran.

That would be something he'd pretty much should do to cast as an analytical caster, play all the races to high levels.
Would certainly make for interesting streaming.

Would also give him potentially a new perspective on the other races more. Obviously he already plays them to some level, as do most pros, to understand matchups better.

Also if he went random when streaming to practice all the races, his opponents might play more defensive and cheese less, as he would be less predictable.

Hopefully a streaming incentive for subscribers :3
