He's still in WCS NA challenger league, I wonder if he will play it out or just forfeit his games.

glad to see idra "retiring". dont get me wrong i've been a huge fan of him for a long time, but this seems like the right choice. going over to do something productive and something you actually enjoy, while being able to make your own decisions etc. hopefully mlg, dh etc will pick him up as a caster, would be really cool.

good luck greg

Good Luck IdrA. Very clear and rational insight on real talk - as expected. I will support your futers endaevors! Looking foreward for IdrA casting together with Artosis - this would be so informative.

I think he made it pretty clear? Stop competing professionally --> no further participation in the WCS.

I like Idra, but EG did what they had to do. It's not like this is the first or only incident.

EG had to. Forced by the sponsors.
Like Idra said, he doesn't really mean the nasty stuff he says after losing, it's just rage.
Idra always rages, sponsors were aware of that. They could have chosen to ignore it and don't make a fuss about it.
Instead they forced EG to kick him.
I don't like them forcing their oversensitive political correctness upon the community at all.

You can also blame the community for emailing the sponsors about similar events forcing the sponsors' hands.

I don't agree with your last sentence, not one bit. Lowering the standards when it comes to manners is not the way for Sc2 or any e-sport to become prime time ready. Some smack talk is great and all, but IdrA's - especially in the later stages - was just plain pathetic and got stale. Sure it was still funny cuz it was IdrA. but who in their right mind needs something like this at a Dreamhack for example?

I think it's great he changes his occupation within the e-sports community. This way he won't have to rely on such antics and can shine purely on his skills which he definitely has.

I am so glad that he decided to stay around and is not leaving the scene now as he is not obliged to stay. I am so looking forward to seeing you as a caster Greg . I feel that it suits you much better as a profession right now and I truly believe that you are great at it! A lot of people enjoy you commentating and your delicate sense of humor. Hopefully you will be able to find enough support to keep you going financially. IdrA FIGHTING!

I think it will be good for him, he has a freedom to do things on his own now. He seemed to be very positive about his future, and I like that, I don't remember seeing him so energized. Kicking him from EG is overreaction, for sure. But Idra is a name big enough to work on his own : )

Good luck Greg!

Damn you gotta respect his decision but I cant agree with it . I think with his new more professional attitude (not just calling everyone bad fucker but actually looking at your own mistakes) he could do really well and go back to being competitive. I think either that or quitting esports and going back to study would have both been a better decision in the long run. Hopefully now that he will be free of pressure to perform he can improve and it will trigger him to come back ? :D

This is huge, IdrA was my reason to pick up SC2 and play into high master...
Motivation ist at ~5% now. Hopefully it`ll get better after the initial shock. (ok it was kinda expected that he`ll quit prro gaming..)

But after all great Interview. I`ll subscribe the shit out of your Stream. Do a crowdfounding for a IdrA Invitational, sell "Team Idra" Shirts, start singing or whatever. YOU ROCK!

I really hope he allows us to watch the vods on his stream now that he isn't a pro anymore. That would be really cool imo especially since I am not always able to tune in live when he streams. And of course, good luck in the future, we will continue supporting you! :D

Sucks that Greg quits as a player, but he seems happier this way. Greg was the one who inspired me to pick Zerg, and I've been a huge fan ever since, cheering for him every time he played, whether it was a tournament or just streaming. Beating MC, Boxer and Bomber at MLG was my favorite tournament moments ever, in addition to his earlier GSL runs.

Very happy that he's staying in esports =)

IdrA is like the Simon Cowell of Starcraft 2, and his casting would be awesome.

Hope to see him continuing Starcraft 2 competitively somewhere in the future, IdrA was my inspiration to play Zerg and pick up certain builds.

I think he'd do pretty well competitively (Perhaps even better) now in my opinion, seeing that the stress of having to win tournaments for a team is an issue of the past, at least for now.

I feel anyone who actually mails sponsors, instead of the actual team, are bad, bad, bad, bad people for the community. If you have a problem with a player or whatnot, you tell team management. You DON'T email sponsors, that's just fucking stupid and hurts everyone instead of fixing a problem. A problem that's more subjective than anything else really.

Weak that he left competitive. That real talk episode was very saddening to watch. I don't support this incontrol trend of becoming a caster. I hope he reconsiders. If he does he has this "?fans" support. Not otherwise.
I would love to see him get back in shape again. Such a loss to the foreign Zerg community.
