The thing though is that he does this all the time, spanning back since beta. At one point it has to stop being a bit of bad luck and chalk it up to his play. I mean I personally think he has the talent to be dominant on the scene, but he just never seems to pull through. It's unfortunate, but true. I'll always be a fan, obviously, but I think it's time us fans readjust our expectations.
Just my opinion, if you disagree please be civil
Good luck in the future Idra! Good games nonetheless.

IdrA played beautifully in game 2 with some minor mistakes. Idra mismicroes the situation with 2 zealots and a stalker, meant to be a light pressure but ends up disrupting IdrA's economy, however the damage is almost negligible. IdrA comes out way ahead as he fends off the 7 gate blink attack (practically an allin). IdrA, has several options, A) muta switch (bad, already well upgraded stalkers), B) FLOOD roach ling and deny third for all eternity (Good, but not the safest option, or C) go for infestor ling roach and build an extremely efficient anti blink stalker immortal composition. He went with C, probably the best option, however he engages on the ramp before his infestors are in the battle, suffering huge losses, putting the game back to even. IdrA from this point messes up engagement after engagement ( with stunning macro keeping him in the game). Despite the fact HerO's macro slips for a huge amount of the game floating 1k for the majority of the game, his battle micro and decision making pull through, hitting IdrA a mere minute or two before bls pop. IdrA, with the much weaker army somehow makes the fight ALMOST even (ling festor vs collo stalker sentry zealot sentry should lose, however, IdrA is fucking awesome). Idra could have done a number of things rather than go ont he offensive, countered with lings, encouraging a pull back, buying time for his BLs, attack, or pull back, sac the third and build up the festor BL force with his banked gas and minerals. IdrA has such great macro (other than a few supply block) and much better mechanics than HerO, sadly his poor decision making cost him the game. GOGO IDRA NEXT TIME, YOU GET SOOOO CLOSE TO BEATING THE TOP KOREANS THEN FALL BECAUSE OF SMALL MISTAKES, I BELIEVE (this coming from a low masters zerg, grain of salt XD)

I thought there were some smart moves from IdrA, even though he lost. I feel he hesitates at moments he should commit and commits at moments he should pull back. Hopefully he figures that part out The games were played 3 weeks ago on KR server btw.

Good luck in the future Idra! Good games nonetheless. his most recent games like at IPL some of them were jsut so insanely close (looking at bomber game two) and he just lost because he jsut made one wrong mistake or some bad luck (like bombers hellions jsut so happening to find his entire mineral line maynarding or him scanning just as his infesters are coming in) they jsut seem like games that he would ahve won if he had jsut played a tiny bit better or if one thing happened jsut a little differently

He's still Idra, it's not like Idra died and this new guy is somebody else.
He still has it, hasn't pulled it out yet. Probably gonna be like another IEM Guangzhou situation where MC knocks Idra out of an MLG(Columbus and Providence) and then a few months later he wins a major tournament (IEM Guangzhou and ________).

i jsut wished he got more then PvZ

I think the opposite team purposefully tries to send a toss to snipe him because he is so dangerous in ZvZ and ZvT. I dunno how the matches for EGMCSL work though.

The map choice is locked and then revealed to the teams, so they pick whoever would be good on that map.
Not really complicated by convoluted. They see a map that Idra likes so they send Hero. EG then thinks well they'll probably send Hero after Idra, so we'll put Idra on a different map. Liquid then thinks that Idra probably won't play on that map so they don't bother. EG then thinks that they've fooled Liquid and put Idra back on the map he likes. Liquid catches EG and sends Hero right back to that map.
Or Liquid just really lucky sending in Hero against Idra.

so they saw daybreak and sent IdrA and Hero without knowing which player the other team picked

both teams probably saw daybreak, both thought it would be best for there race and sent the best palyer of taht race they had (Zerg for EG and Toss for Liquid)

Cheers to Idra v Flash at MLG in the near future.

Too bad I missed it. He looked good though, is that the consensus?

He looked good at some parts, but overall I felt it was pretty disappointing.
Game 1 he defended against early pressure fairly well given he didn't see it coming, but he probably should of been more prepared for it when it came. Then he did well with splitting his units to maximize surface area and going for a flank, but his army just wasn't big enough. Took too much economic damage from the initial attack due to not being prepared.
Game 2 he did well defending against the blink stalker allin, but then he just didn't finish the game off and allowed Hero back into the game. From there it kind of fell apart as he kept losing small amounts of units at a time.
If he had better scouting game 1 and he just attacked Hero after the failed allin when he was like 80 supply ahead he probably could of won both games.
|
His build order in those games were very disorganised, his gas timings were bad which meant he couldnt get upgrades AND hold the attack, I think he should definatley step back and figure out gas timings. Also in the second game he didnt put his guys in gas until 20-30 seconds after his gysers had finished.
He could have just a moved on the second map and it would have been gg.
I'm actually dissappointed in his play, he just played messy.
(I'm an Idra fan for the record - so noone has to get hurt, it's just the facts about his games last night.)

he really didnt have a window to kill Hero he only mistake was he kept engaging in small fights and trading in heros favour so he didnt have enough units to defend his fourth
really close game though

Idra is going to be on State of the Game tonight: IdrA, ThorZaIN, iNcontroL, Artosis, Wheat, and JP discuss the New MLG news, Dreamhack, MLG SpringArena, and maybe talk.. about.. the.. State of the Game? :D
Yet another thing I'll have to watch tomorrow >_>

I thought he was really good back then but now i just get really disappointed every time i see him play, ragequits ALL THE TIME even some games when he still has a good shot at winning he just leaves... it annoys me SO much... and all his whining about toss being so op.. ffs think out different strategies instead of whining all the time.. I hope he can get back on track and fight against the best players again but i feel like he won't get anywhere before he gets rid of his rage..
