I was just wondering, is there other music genre than pop in the korean music scene? I might sound really ignorant, but it seems, that the only korean music types that I know of, are the super-pink-sugar-coated pop music OR the nostalgic-melancholic-love ballads. It seems that Koreans ( I should say Asians in general ) love whatever that is super cute and adorable. My girlfriend who loves asian dramas and music is the type of person who watches and listens those for the inevitable AAAAWWWWW SO CUTE moment.
Even though japanese music scene is full of the same pop music, it is really, really really not hard to find others things like good rock/alternative, jazz, metal. Could someone from korea tell me if there's other types of music that plays on radio, other than let's say (generalizing here) SNSD and some love ballads? Personally, I would be so sick of listening to those 24/7.
