have I mentioned how much I hate the word hipster?
Still have no idea what that word means.
It always surprises me how much more about kpop I know than the average Korean. Even when I'm expecting it.

kpop to koreans is like justin bieber is to americans ... sad truth
my moms friend hosts students (usually female) from asian countries, the current one is korean so i figured i'd talk to her. i told her about my interest in korean and the first thing she asked was "do you like kpop?" someone mentioned how I went to SM town but i saved myself by saying i liked starcraft o_o
According to my Korean friend, only a handful of really popular American artists get listened to, otherwise they just listen to own music. Like right now Maroon 5 is really popular, Jason Mraz to an extent too (they love I'm Yours a lot for some reason).
Shouldn't really be that surprising. I know there are Koreans who know a hell of a lot more about the English Premier League than I do, because they have an interest in football (soccer for the colonies) that goes beyond sitting in a pub complaining about how embarrassing England are every few years.
I've introduced J Rabbit, Standing Egg and the like to countless of my Korean friends who had no idea they even existed.

Hm really? I know quite a few koreans and most of them really seem to like kpop (and I mean really). Though they're sort of fobs so maybe most normal koreans and/or american-born koreans just don't like it or something?
I feel like I'm the only person in the world that hates Gangnam Style.
My friend (who didnt know i was into kpop) started doing the Gangnam Style dance and singing it completely wrong and i had to hold back the urge to slap him in the face. However, I was talking to him about kpop (he apparently also likes "that song with a bunch of girls in cheerleading outfits") and now he wants me to hook him up with good kpop videos... so meh...
Edit: This is the 4th time I've caught my dad watching 2NE1 TV. I can feel him judging my from across the hallway.

I liked the song with the girls in marching band outfits better
Good kpop videos though...hm. Maybe try Loving U. I thought that was a pretty fun summery video so now is still a good time probably. Understandably some people iirc Craton didn't like it though

That's kind of creepy and kind of cool at the same time, so he looks down on Sones then? I can not stand when people say "Oppa Gangnam Style" instead of "Oppan", If you're going to be a fool atleast sing it correctly. That really gets me going...
What the heck is a k hole supposed to be though? lol I mean..."I'm stuck in a hole [of listening to this etc], but it's korean so I'm going to add a k"? Really?

A K hole is something that happens if you take too much Ketamine. (I advise you or anyone reading this don't) I suppose she is comparing looping Gangnam Style to that in an allegorical way.
