In terms of an aggregate rankings based off of public presence/endorsements, album sales, and general popularity, i'd probably put SNSD > 2ne1 > t-ara = kara > wg > sistar > the rest.
When you take into account the consistency of these various groups, t-ara and sistar shouldn't even rank that highly because their promotion cycles are at times meteoric and mediocre at others.
Also, girl group popularity fluctuate during each promotional cycle so to rank anything under the top two (SNSD and 2ne1) is blind conjecture. yes, I do realize the ironing of my previous ranking, it's just an opinion.

There's still 3 awards for the weekly shows, Show Champion, Mcountdown and Music Bank. I think a good way to rank groups along with album sales and endorsements is from respected polls like Gallup Korea and some mainstream publications over there. Going by things like this, IU and 2NE1 are definitely in the top 3, but after them it's basically a mix of guy groups like Super Junior, Big Bang, and 2PM, and Wonder Girls, T-ara, Sistar, and Kara.

It was suppose to be rhetorical.... I was making a point of saying that time periods are important, and that too many people making excuses for groups like WG, to be included in the top 5.

At the beginning of SM Town, since there was a huge international tour package for the concert, they had representative fans from all the countries in attendance walk with sm artists carrying their country's flag. It's a part of the whole "SM Music Nation" thing they got going on. And then BoA and Kangta opened the show with an announcement and they all sang that Dear My Family song to mark the start of the concert. At the end of the concert, many of these fans were able to go on stage with all the artists, and some even took selcas with the artists and got autographs and got to meet them.
example: Sooyoung asked this fan who her favorite was and she said Yunho, so Sooyoung introduced her to him. Pretty cool for that fan. And I just noticed, it's the same fan from the above picture!

It could be the live collaboration they did with Lee Hyori... but it's hard to tell, if it's not Lollipop, it's probably something live exclusive since, at least from what I know, Big Bang has made no other song together with a girl group.
