Actually I just saw the Miss A thing. Why are we reposting everything every day? Honestly half of those pics come up on the first page of a google search anyway, it's fucking annoying. Too bad the "no reposting without reason" rule isn't being enforced anymore.

That growth means nothing and isn't sustainable though because most of it came at the release of SC2 when most of us here found TL. That same thing ain't gonna happen again until SC3 which as we all know is more than a decade out. When I joined in late 2010 we were around or just under (I forget) the 1000 page mark, and somewhere around a year and a half later it's grown by 2000 pages. It'll likely continue at this rate (but not increase) for awhile, then SC2 will start to die out and some of you motherfuckers will start leaving.

I need to ask a question....does anyone follow kpop for the quality of music (alone) ?

Because throughout the whole world, there is definitely better sounding music. Kpop is about the stars that create the music and their personalities....that is the main focus of Kpop.

That is how I view it anyway, is there anyone here for the music alone, regardless of group?

Well this is both quite disturbing and interesting at the same time.

As a background to this question, I am obviously hetero-sexual. I have never once questioned my sexuality nor ever considered anything out of it.

I naturally brought up the Wikipedia definition of both lust and love.

Lust:

Lust is an emotion or feeling of intense desire in the body. The lust can take any form such as the lust for knowledge, the lust for sex or the lust for power. It can take such mundane forms as the lust for food as distinct from the need for food. Lust is a powerful psychic force producing intense wanting for an object, or circumstance fulfilling the emotion.[

Ok so yes, I strongly desire her body, that's pretty much a given. I also seem to "lust for knowledge" because I'd really like to get to know her on a personal level and in a way that's knowledge. An intense want is pretty accurate.

Before reading that description of lust I always pictured that word and emotion as purely sexual/physical. What I feel for Nicole is more than that and therefore I did not consider it lust before. Now I'm unsure.

Love:

Love is an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment.

Ok, well... I do have a strong affection and personal attachment....

As previously stated, I used to think lust was a purely sexual thing and therefore, something that would be impossible for me to feel with someone of the same sex. (Or at least something that I have not yet experienced in my life.)

So for now, I guess I'll go with love to describe this one way relationship.

Now I believe that if someone was to love someone (feel for that person in ways more than just sexual and physical) of what's believed to be the opposite sex to later find out that the person is of the same sex that the love would remain. The lust pr physical attraction might deteriorate but the love for the person and that person's personality or character will remain.

Therefore is Nicole was somehow to be a man, based on what I just said, I think my opinion of her wouldn't change at all, I'd still love her and desire her.

Would I actually have a sex change in order to fulfill her (or his?) fictional requirements in that case ? I don't know, that would depend on the situation. I'm not a doctor so first up I'd have to know if a sex change is something that can be undone or done again in order to go back to the original sex and everything that it implies physically. The context would also be very important, for example, if I was to be in a relationship with Nicole, as a regular couple and one day she'd tell me that she'd like me to change sex to appeal to her more and be more pleasurable to her I would consider it a lot more seriously than just doing that operation just to have a shot with her. You know. The answer to the "just to have a shot" scenario would probably be no.

Not that I mind a sex change I mean why not, could be fun, could be a cool experience (especially if I'm able to go back after). But the consequences of it, I'm still heterosexual (outside of if Nicole turns out to be a man... Wait a second, that no longer makes me heterosexual does it ? hhhmmmm)... But if I don't score Nicole than finding a nice lesbian that'd be interested in the now hybrid that I would be would be quite the challenge. Note that however, it could allow me to score a reality TV deal or something and make some money the easy way, lol.

And the "if I already was with Nicole scenario" would 100% be an immediate yes if I can later on go back and have the operation undone or done again. If I can't go back to being a male, I think I'd still might do it for her but it would require a lot more thoughts and discussions with her so it would probably go down to 70% chance possibility of happening.

I hope I've given you a satisfactory answer.

I got in due to Nicole so (artists and their personalities).
I later on at some point learned to appreciate the music and enjoyed it. (So it became both for the artists and music almost equally.)
Right now I'm kind of in a down KPop phase, I'm not really feeling it these days, I don't really listen to much KPop at all so I'd say i definitely went back to only being in it for the artists and their personalities.
I suspect this might change again multiple times according to current moods and whatnot.

Definitely the music, but I have to admit that I got into it for other reasons at start.

But then when it comes to make it in the "western world" as u mentioned along with ur graph, I think we all know that its not only the music that makes it happening. You have the image, personalities, looks, talent, promotions, passion?! and more that makes a kpop group what it is today. With that in mind I personally don't think that many of the recent debuts have pulled it of so far, but don't get me wrong, I would love to be proven otherwise.

The reason I won't ever get into it because of personality is because their personality is 100% crafted anyway. You're not ever gonna see what the idols are really like so there's no point.

This perfectly encapsulates what I view Kpop as, and what the people at the top think also. After the music collapse of the digital generation, Kpop has exploded because they have learnt to market the stars...the track can hardly even matter. So, to all you 2NE1 haters or any big group hater, if you are still bewildered at how many views they get and records they break, it is because Kpop is not about music first, it is about the star

PS: that is why I value Kpop over any other music to this present day: while every other country is butt hurt and crying on the floor, Korea has found a way to use the digital revolution to their advantage, and flourish in what others see as a shrinking industry

TLDR: so to all you fans who are in it purely for the music...there is nothing wrong with that at all! The tracks coming out of Korea are quite catchy

All I'm trying to say is that Kpop as a whole puts the star first...because this is how they have survived the digital generation

This is actually all false. Perpetuated by the media and sometimes by record companies (hoping to win anti-piracy victories). Apparently the sales of music have all been increasing and steadily increasing.

And stop using the popularity=music is good argument. You've used it for the past 2 days but it doesn't mean shit.

That is a bit the same for me to, I like korean music like epik high, younha leessang etc because of the music and the sound of the korean language. I listen to Kpop mainly because of the artists. Doesnt listen to much kpop only watch the video´s and sometimes while gaming or studying, because it keeps me energetic. I listen more to european/american music, but not much pop.
