Re: WG winning: I'm happy for them. It was touching to see Sunye and Hyelim's reactions to winning because Sunye has gone through some real tough times with deaths in the family and Hyelim struggling to fit in and dealing with the "I miss Sunmi" effect. The pictures of their reactions to dropping the trophy are hilarious.
Re: T-ara's performance: The ballad portion was really boring to me, but I've never been a huge fan of ballad live performances. They all seemed so listless and lacking any sort of energy or emotion while singing, and the pedestal thing was kind of awkward (immediately noticeable to me). It's not like people don't know that T-ara is comprised of members of varying height, there's no need for that. If anything I felt it made Soyeon and Boram look silly like they were sitting in high chairs while everyone else was in regular ones.
The regular version was disappointing, and I can't say that I'm surprised. I mentioned it before when we were discussing the practice video, but I expected their performance to dip once they had to sing at the same time. The choreography isn't easy and requires a lot of coordination with a lot of people dancing, and certain parts require very quick and precise movements. During the practice you could see them really hitting the moves hard and focusing on the little things that make the dance good. During the live performance, you didn't see much of that at all and they, again, looked really listless and emotionless. From watching that performance, you don't get the feeling that any of them have much stage presence at all, and the whole "playing it cool" attitude they're going for just makes them seem disinterested.
I agree that the camera work also contributed, but you're never going to get a static wide angle shot like you see in practice videos during lives. This is true for all groups and their practice video vs. live performances, including the best like SNSD and Sistar. (Tangent: Sistar actually does a pretty good job of dancing while singing at the same time with little dip in dance quality. Maybe because they don't focus as much on posing and "working" the camera?) I think T-ara is capable of doing better than this, but they're going to have to make some changes/adjustments.
As for the outfits, I think that Hyomin's might be a bit to risque for Korean television, but we'll see if there's any reaction. I think almost everyone else looked pretty good once the jackets were off. Boram looked like a kid playing dressup, the look doesn't suit her. Everyone's least favorite member Hwayoung looked pretty good in my opinion, and did well during her parts (i.e. the "c'mon c'mon" parts).
Electroboyz & Hyorin: I actually kinda like this song. Hyorin kills it live as usual, and probably outshines the group itself, but I think it's pretty good overall.
SNSD performance: I think it's really weird and awkward to see them in outfits like that nowadays. It worked back when they first debuted, but they've long left the cutesy/innocent/child-like behind them starting with Gee and progressing all the way to The Boys. It's like seeing a bunch of college girls dress up like 5 years old and expect to be taken seriously. I'm sure there are a lot of people who probably liked it, but I took one look at the outfits and thought "WTH? Aren't they too old for this?"
Pagetop extra: Since the other 2NE1 stuff was well-received and I feel like the amount of their content in this thread is quite disproportional to their actual popularity and quality as performers, here's a clip of them performing Lollipop live with Big Bang. I think it's a fun song and performance, and it's cool to see them all have fun with it together.
Yeah the T-ara ballad perf was alright but then again I dont really listen to ballads at all so I dont have much of an opinion on it. The Dance performance I felt was just missing something. Maybe it was the camera's and the bad angles and motion shots but there seemed to be some kind of lack of maybe crispness or something, not really sure. And too many have short hair. Long hair>short.

I blame it on the camera work and lack of practice and lack of energy. Also, the stage quite low budget.
The choreography is one of the best (if not the best) I've seen from a girl group.
Heh, yeah, was a little unnecessary but my point still stands. I find myself watching the others instead. It's just not that great by professional standards

It'd be a total shame though if they had to adjust the choreo to make it performable while singing and without tripping on the jackets or tissues. I don't want to see an adjusted/downgraded dance for performance purposes but on the other hand, the way it was on Mnet was disappointing. I just hope they can step it up.
(Thinking about it, Step equally lacked some of the energy that was "promised" by the MV.)
@XaL- I'd imagine overwork has to be a factor, I do think they have the potential to pull it off though as the concept is similar to IGCBOY, but more..sophisticated? Also Sistar looks good singing and dancing cause half the group only has to concentrate on dancing, Bora doesn't have hard dance moves while rapping, and Hyorin is a fucking professional.
edit- Been thinking about this for awhile and IMO CCM has to reevaluate how they manage T-ara. Sure all the individual acting schedules are great but the adverse affect of having perhaps the most punishing schedule out of all the girl groups is becoming noticeable. Hyomin not appearing for half the performances last cycle and for non-broadcast appearances due to dramas, Eunjung having WGM as well as a drama, 1 (soon to be 2) Japanese releases and the promotions that accompany those, and 2 major album releases in around 3 is ridiculous, even by Kpop standards.
T-ara had already been busy before because they take the "multimedia star" approach more seriously than anyone else- over half the group has appeared on dramas, guest appearances, more solo starring variety shows than anyone else, and as many endorsements as any other top group out there. Add promoting in another country where their target market is becoming increasingly competitive and it's clearly become too much for the girls.
I have to say I admire how most girl groups can appear so energetic and upbeat despite their schedules but as this performance shows T-ara is lacking this. Slow the fuck down, concentrate on a few areas at a time instead of taking a shotgun approach to infiltrate all forms of media, and make every individual project good. Stop taking endorsements for random F2P MMOs, make your brand alittle more exclusive, charge more for endorsements so you don't have to work as hard for the same amount of money. Stop trying to have them promote everyone constantly and slow the fuck down. Alternate the acting and the singing duties or something. There's no doubt that they're all ridiculously talented, and that kpop groups can work harder than I thought possible, but this is getting fucking ridiculous.
There's one thing in K-pop I would really like to see happen, and that's for WG to cover I Am The Best. I don't know why, but it just popped into my head and it would be awesome.
Don't forget Eunjung just fell off of a horse so they had to change some of the choreo and Soyeon was pretty sick not too long ago - so thats two main member who arent feeling well already
Hi I have been lurking a long time. I really like Sulli but I hardly see any posts regarding her, only people from the top of my head I know are fans of her in this thread are GTR and Ixas. I just plan on posting new sulli related stuff from time to time from here on out and maybe make a fan out of you to.
I think Sulli is one of the few natural beauties in kpop. Like anyone in this thread would be able to recognize that is Sulli even thought hose pics are like from grade school. I don't mind plastic girls but I like the fact that Sulli is 100% real. Also for a 17 year old korn girl she filled out super nice.
edit: im pretty new here so im not sure how to make the video show up so you dont have to click the link, sorry.

it was an all girl band, and the music video took place in a bar. i believe it had scenes with a girl sitting at a table waiting for her boyfriend and she was on her phone. i can't really remember much but it i believe it had 3 women in it who were actually singing (the girl at the table was just the character portrayed in the video and did not sing), and they were aligned much like what you would see with 3 women in a jazz band or whatever (triangle formation) I THINK. not 100% sure on their formation but it reminded me of like a oldies type video when they were showing the women singing.
can anyone tell me what song that was? i remember i enjoyed it.
