Also got her to watch the first two episodes of madoka sadly she's not interested, I'll try and get here to watch the third at some point anyways.
finished claymore a bit ago good adaptation of one of my favorite manga series up till the end anyways...
bah! 100 pages behind again,so responding to something ancient stuff for fun

so, borrowed and read fruits basket, nana ,kare-kano fushigi yugi and others from the library, but reading twilight( did read all 4 books) was the last straw.

I don't want to sound like a douche or a dick, but will we get the usual Thursday dose, without any delays?
Also is it just me or is F/S N (or even generally, the Nasuverse) very popular in Japan? I've been surfing amazon.co.jp, amiami, and the other 2 sites, and there's generally a lot of F/SN merchandise. Just out of curiosity I also checked Tsukihime, Berserk, Code Geass, Angel Beats! One Piece and Ghost in the Shell.
- Berserk is extinct it seems. Hard to argue about that, since the anime got made in 1998(?) but I'd think the manga would still be popular (I found a figure that cost 32'000 yen, which beats the Saber Lily's "Distant Avalon" which cost 27'000)
When the rumored new anime will come out, I'm curious if we'll see a berserk boom in merchandise.
- One Piece is one piece... popular as ever but the figures seem subpar.
- Tsukihime has some merchandise. Hisui and Kohaku, Ciel and Akiha figures are available (from Melty Blood). The figures are nice and decently detailed, but compared to F/SN they seem lacking.
- Code Geass... I would have imagined CC and Kallen figures, but surprisingly there are a lot of crappy reproductions of the Knightmare frames.
- Angel Beats! has like 2 good figurines out... of Tenshi and Yuri.
- Ghost in the Shell *had* nice figurines out, but they're sold out now. Despite that, the series seems to stay popular with new figures made from time to time.
So, can anyone explain why the F/SN love is so strong?

Type-Moon stuff in general is very popular. Code Geass is Sunrise, so Code Geass models are essentially just Gunpla. I have a Gurren Mk. II Model, and its fairly good quality. I assume Lancelot is probably the same. IDK why you would say they are "crappy" reproductions. Its the same size as a standard 1/144 scale Gunpla, except slightly higher quality than lot I've had. Even came with a stand (and one of the very few models that don't need a stand lol).

Well, finished Index. No Misaka, but a glimpse of Index? The author really hates the readers I swear.

So, can anyone explain why the F/SN love is so strong? IIRC, some studios will be delaying releases due to the damage done to their studio. I think Madoka's being pushed back a week, and JC Staff isn't releasing either. Not sure about other studios. Take all this with a grain of salt since it's second-hand information.
Type-Moon stuff is stupid popular. Though I don't know why F/SN gets so much more love than Tsukihime (excuse my huge bias <_<). Maybe because it's newer?
@Ecael: I swear the author's out of ideas and is just milking the series at this point. And does he hate Accelerator as a character or something? Out of all the characters in the series, it seems like he gets screwed over the most.

Tsukihime had Hisui's Route and Ciel, while F/SN had Saber and Rin. That might have contributed a bit.
|
Unless you are saying that Ciel is such a huge negative she beats the fail of Fate+UBW, that doesn't really make sense to me.
And Spazer, what do you mean by Accelerator getting screwed over the most, bugger has a Misaka harem (#2) at this point too.
|
Fate and UBW were tons and tons better than anything involving Ciel, or laying in a bed in pain doing nothing for an entire route. Aside from Shirou being Shirou, I don't think those two routes were even bad. I've always felt Heaven's Feel was the worst FSN route anyway.

Despite being the supposed strongest esper, he's lost the most fights out of all the characters in the series. And he loses in the stupidest ways as well (eg. Touma, Amata). Plus he keeps getting his loli stolen. He may have a Misaka harem, but it's the worst.
Excuse my lame puns.
Fate was a boring route. I think I held down ctrl for over half of that route. UBW was better, but overall, it wasn't anything amazing. Plus once you get past the manliness, Shirou's motivations are beyond stupid. + Show Spoiler +"Being a superhero is an impossible, meaningless goal"
"I don't care"
WTF? HF was the best route because Shirou was the least retarded in that route. The only downside was that Sakura was a horrible heroine.
Overall, none of the plot twists from F/SN even come close to matching the impact of some of the developments in Tsukihime. The plot was just way too straightforward for that.
|
To me, the enjoyment I got out of the routes were almost directly tied to how much I liked the heroine, other than special circumstances (Hisui's Route). Sakura was a horrible heroine, therefore I didn't like HF. I mean, I don't see how its possible to like HF if you also hate Sakura. Plus Shirou was just a different type of retarded in that one. HF was just so different as well, in a weird way. I dunno, maybe if Sakura wasn't so bad I could have enjoyed it more.
Saber and Rin were both very good heroines IMO. The plots for their routes were straight forward, but that doesn't mean bad. UBW had lots of Lancer being a complete badass as well.
Then when I look at Tsukihime, and we got Ciel as one of the more prominent heroines. And Ciel sucks. Plus Ciel/Hisui/Kohaku are very annoying in Melty Blood. Plus weren't the routes shorter as well?
I'm not saying Tsukihime is bad, or that F/SN is great or anything, I enjoyed them about the same amount. Just saying its understandable that F/SN might be more popular, due to more popular heroines.

I liked HF better than the other routes because despite Sakura's suckage, I felt that the story of HF was a lot better. Mostly this is due to the darker nature of the route, but HF also kinda acts as the overarching route for F/SN in that it's able to use all the information you've learned from Fate and UBW to weave what I think is the most complete story.
I didn't like Saber. I wrote about it in a Fate/Zero spoiler a couple pages back. + Show Spoiler [Fate/Zero] +Saber... I didn't really like her in FSN, and Fate/Zero didn't really help. Just like in FSN, her goal is to get the grail so that she can correct the actions in her past life since as the perfect king, she basically had to ignore the feelings and desires of many people for the good of the kingdom. And to this end, she kills Berserker despite how she's wronged him before just because he stands between her and the grail. In general, I've always felt that her wish is kind of a cop out, as if she's just trying to avoid taking responsibility for her actions in the past. Happy birthday btw.

Oh hey, happy early birthday to me lol
I think the changes Saber went through after meeting Shirou were really good for her character. Plus she was pretty cute lol. I suppose you could say that her wish was a cop-out, and she was trying to avoid responsibility for her actions... But wasn't that sort of the point of her wish, and her ending in Fate? That eventually she would decide to just accept her life, and the responsibility of all that happened?

Saber was the best what are you talking about ;_;
Edit @ Sentenal: Why does Lancer get so screwed in the F/SN anime? Is the VN like that? I wanted more Gae Bolg
Edit @ Latham: I can't wait for all the Madoka figures. I'll be sure to get one(s) of Madoka and Homura. Hehehe

Does anyone know if Madoka is actually airing this week?
+ Show Spoiler +Also, must be horrible timing for the show. Gen trolls, but I think a healing show would go over pretty well in Japan right now. And the next two eps are probably going to be about some apocalyptic disaster -- just awkward timing there :/
|
The show was supposed to synchronize with the airing dates, but I don't think that that will happen. Unfortunate, but understandable. While they're at it they should just delay it further to synchronize with the real Walpurgisnacht >:3
|
Someone mentioned it a while back + Show Spoiler +"We know what happened after the end of Walpurgis Night" or something like that.

Hmm. Moshidora was supposed to air this early? Maybe that means it'll be 24 eps.
