Somewhere in the video it said SEL and Texhnolyze. When I read that I thought "Ok, apparently they are trying to make a brutal sci-fi but watered down with cute characters, romance and a time-leap a la Steins;Gate." Then I took a look at the director and it said he did Steins;Gate. Why am I not surprised...? Apparently the character designer is the same as in SEL and Texhnolyze. I wouldn't have guessed it just looking at the art. It looks completely different so advertising with SEL and Texhnolyze seems kind of pointless to me, no?
//Watched the first episode of Kakegurui. Seems like a shit show, this is NGNL all over again. Use a game completely based on luck, establish some random rules or shenanigans during the game and ass pull the full solution after the game has ended. So tense.
New season for me is probably looking something like this:
100% must watch: New Game!! Owarimonogatari
Will check out and heard ... stuff about it: Koi to Uso Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. (this sounds REALLY trashy but it, supposedly, is actually funny)
Things I want to give a try but don't really expect anything from: Hajimete no Gal (mostly for the voicetrap. If the "gal" thing is too much I'm going to drop that really quick. Not a fan of that) Gamers! (just because of the name and the tags aren't off-putting for me) Fate/Apocrypha (idk... seems like fake-fate to me and I don't think I want that. I'll give it a chance and see what A-1 does though) Battle Girl High School (now THIS has got to be trash... right?)
aaaaand that's about it for now. Honestly with Owarimonogatari not being aired weekly this seems like a season where I don't have a lot to watch on a daily/weekly basis. It still looks like a decent season, just that a good part of it will be aired within 48 hours
Also, there's this:
In the story, a Japanese mecha otaku dies in a car accident and his soul is reincarnated into another world as Ernesti Echevarria. Eru inherits memories and interests from his previous life, and aims to be a pilot of a Silhouette Knight, a large humanoid weapon that really exists in his world.
LN isekai mecha! Didn't know that was a thing. I mean everything is a thing with isekai but mecha didn't strike me as something you get with the whole LN "package" à la DanMachi and other things like that ... I don't know if what I'm trying to get across here is getting across but no idea how to better express it so I'm just going to stop
Kakegurui wasn't very good at all. It can basically be summarized as reaction faces and fanservice. The game and stakes were ridiculously weak, but I guess it's only episode 1.
I enjoy the manga for Ballroom e Youkoso, but the PV wasn't great. It looked kinda... unnatural? There's something to be said about ballroom dancing looking unnatural anyways, but this was on another level.
Fate/Apocrypha (idk... seems like fake-fate to me and I don't think I want that. I'll give it a chance and see what A-1 does though)
What defines fake fate for you though? Just not the same time period as the original FSN? The universe is really big and allows for many different stories involving other grail wars. This was also apparently supervised by Nasu, the creator of the universe.
So far for me, off the top of my head, going to be checking out owarimono, fate/apocrypha, tsurezure (sp) children, idr what else...

That's probably just to show ABe's credentials, I can see some similarities with his previous works but they're pretty different otherwise. Not too surprising considering SEL, Tex, HR and N7 were all released close to eachother, had a lot of staff in common between them and Project D is coming out 15 years after his last major work.
As long as this isn't another S;G i'm excited, Time travel/loop shows tend to either be amazing or garbage from my experiences with them but I'll be optimistic for now. I hope this was the project Chiaki said he was working on, he said he'd come back in 2016 but nothing came out of it.

that sounds like something I'd never go out of my way to watch tbh...
I wasn't completely serious but it checked off a lot of the same boxes that I had to think about Brave Witches, lol. The real differences are that they are using mecha instead of stupid leg mounts and real women instead of lolis. So pretty 80s.
I agree with Spazer though that Gunbuster is a lot better (after 2 eps). It's not really good so far but not really bad, either. In contrast to Brave Witches which was straight up appalling.

You mean how the girls are running around in "swim wear" suits as combat suits and their bathroom has a full window front so all the male mecha riders can fly along and watch them? xD To be fair though, I liked that they showed full bodies instead of the usual wannabe fanservice. Like, if you go for ecchi shit why would you take panty shots or chose the sequence so that the breasts are covered? In Gunbuster the girls just walk around naked with nipples and all that shit... That's indeed "naturally".

Also Despera never
Yeah, I know they are probably his credentials. Still seemed weird when watching the ad. I also his designs in SEL, Tex and N7 (haven't watched HR yet but dl'd it recently). What are amazing time travel/loop anime? I have watched a few but none of them was amazing. Off the of my head: Boku Dake, Steins;Gate, Girl who leapt through time, Your Name, KnK: Mujun Rasen, GitS: Innocence, Reero, Patema, Haruhi (lol). The only anime that come to mind, but I'm not sure would count, are Madoka (very good) and Tatami Galaxy (truly amazing).
Despera is probably going to be released shortly after I die, just to spite my life.

It's not swimwear suits, they're leotards. Again, very 80s. Gunbuster as a show gets better with every episode honestly.
Gunbuster is great. First episode is kinda w/e, second episode starts it off in the show's real direction, 3rd episode starts building the foundation of the characters, 4th episode is super good (especially its climax), episode 5 is SOOOoooooOOOOOOoo good, episode 6 isn't really what I expected initially but is a fitting conclusion for the series, and the ending is one of the best endings in anime.
Speaking of upcoming anime, isn't the new Symphogear starting soon? Not sure if this upcoming season, or next. Pretty sure FMP is the following season too.

Aside from Your Name, Tatami Galaxy and the girl who leapt through time that's pretty much everything I watched in terms of anime, only loved KnK 5 & Innocence out of all of them. Patema doesn't have time-travel elements as far as i can remember.

The last one looks interesting, thanks for the recommendation. Outside of anime I can only think of Back into the Future. The Elves books had some time travel mechanic which I liked but it was more accidental and not one of the main focusses or issues in all but one book.
