But you don't need the first season for the buildup. The first 12-13 episodes of afterstory is enough. Believe me, I'm walking proof of that.+ Show Spoiler +
I mean I felt just as dehydrated by the end of it as any other person watching
If anything, It makes afterstory more enjoyable because you don't hate the first half of afterstory while watching it.
And you get the cherry on top of watching how they met afterwards.
Well, some people tear up earlier/more than others. I remember being fucking destroyed and crying for like 5 episodes straight. I didn't shed a tear in Anohana. For me, a build-up is incredibly important because I grew a thick skin over the years. Otherwise I would cry every fucking time I watch/read the news or consume a piece of satire... What I want to say is watching AS first may work for some people but I would argue that watching Clannad first works at least as good for everyone.
Why would you hate the first half of AS anyways?
well i wouldnt know about other people, but neither would you, as you havent seen afterstory before clannad':^) as for the hate part, i guess thats a strong word for it, but considering how many times i have rewatched the show and ended up skipping the first half, its safe to say 2nd half is miles superior. The main reason for me saying that though is the fact that if you watch AS first then you only need to see 12 eps of mediocrity, compared to ~36 or something if you watch clannad first. plus the sunohara arc was pretty bad by any standards.
true about different people having different tear thresholds. i definitely cried quite a bit at anohana, and if id open up the final scene on youtube right now, there is no doubt the waterworks would start again. crying over news or satire i dont understand though.
A new Devilman anime is coming for spring 2018 directed by Masaaki Yuasa. Very interested to see Yuasa's take on one of Go Nagai's most influential works. I'm sceptical about the scriptwriter though but we'll see how this turns out.

There are apparently a bunch of people who are mighty mad about them leaving out the cliffhanger, but I don't really get that perspective... The LNs get away with that and it's not bad because they're LNs. If you write one it's fairly easy to follow it up yourself by writing another one. But for anime that's not the case. We don't know when s3 will hit and while I'm optimistic that it will happen in the next 1- 1.5 years we never know. So putting that cliffhanger in there without an s3 announcement would have been a major dickmove and I applaud Deen for not going for that à la Mahouka, NGNL and whatever else.
For the previous arcs they even got away with it in the anime: vol1 was obviously midseason so they include the cliffhanger ("yay we defeated the dullahan" -> kazuma in debt for damaging the city), vol2 (they defeated the Destroyer but Kazuma is charged with treason and might get sentenced to death) already had s2 announced at that point so there never was uncertainty about wether they'll follow it up. So again, pretty happy about how Deen did that myself even if that means leaving stuff out because I honestly think that's the right thing to do in that situation since we get a proper ending. Especially with how brazen (not meant in a bad way) KonoSuba is with it's cliffhangers at the end of a vol.
Maybe we'll get that in the OVA but not to sure about that. They had plenty of stuff they left out in s1 they could have adapted in the innitial OVA like Wiz introduction, them swapping parties or the dungeon they had to follow up on in s2 because they left it out in s1 and they still did something anime original (it was anime original, right?) for the OVA. So not really expecting anything on that front but who knows
i just finished boku no hero academia, wow that was surprisingly good! I shy away from it before and wanted to check it out cause it has a season 2 coming out soon. I'm gonna catch up on the manga too, but inital suspensions include the rat principle because u know...hes a rat lol. But yeah i wonder how all the villians pop up, why didnt the elite villians just go to hero school or were encourged to go to hero school.
Plus theres an elite villian group behind the shadows, i think that nomu thing is gonna get more upgrades but with all might getting weaker i think deku will have to step up.
eerr i just realised the rat principle cant have been in the villian group because he knows all might's powers and the limitations...but someone did work out he's getting weaker.

Not for me ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yeah, ok. For everyone except those who disliked the series anyways.

Hm... In either case I would still recommend the chronological order. Who is sunohara? The first arc of Clannad sucked the most. Fuuko was her name, wasn't it? Annoying piece of... After ep9 or so it got ok in my eyes.
I don't cry over news or satire but I would argue it's quite a bit more sad what happens all over the world than some random fictional character dealing with shitty drama. That's why I said a work of fiction needs to do some work to get me attached. I don't cry just because some character I don't care about deals with a sad moment. If I did that in real life I would cry non-stop...
I think clannad will forever be one of those super praised series that i'll just never end up watching, it's on my plan to watch but i think i'll always be able to find something i'd rather pick up due to how fucking awful i think the artstyle of clannad is, it's like everything bad about 2000s moe anime.
Also, almost at the end of 4th stage of initial D, thank god the CG finally became fairly acceptable, also so far 4th stage has been the best part of the show so far, and not just because the CG isn't awful anymore but also the races have been super good.

All your questions are answered by the manga. But yeah it was one of my favourite shows of 2016 and i'm definitely super fucking hyped for season 2. Sports festical arc hype.
I found Clannad 1st season still enjoyable since i found it funny (mostly due to Okazaki being a damn troll and Sunohara (occasionally nagisa too)being the target of that) and endearingly sweet at times but man the Fuuko arc, the library girl arc was so annoying like half the time when i was watching those part i was thinking "WHEN WILL THIS BE OVER" and it doesn't help when those two girls are more annoying than anything else.
Still though the After Story payoff was well worth the annoyance from season 1 but if i watched it again i'd completely skip at least like huge chunk of season 1 lol
Wooo, regiment shokugeki starts. Nene being awkward with the soba theme was lol. Can't wait to see what happens next 2-3 chapters to see how the yakisoba compares. I feel like its kind of wasted though that two of the members will essentially be sous chefs to 1 main chef in the 3v3

From what I understand, each chef got a different theme and each will have to present a different dish. The only change from a regular shokugeki is that they can help each other during the making of each dish. So three separate dishes all of which can be worked on together
