Only difference is that MC shot down Neko hardcore and from the short time we got this episode, it seemed like the possibility of their relationship going farther is gone for good. While in Nisekoi when it aired, Marika kept making advancements, albeit rather tame ones after the initial steps. She never felt like much of a competitor aside from the MC being flustered while there was a small possibility that Neko goes further (well, she got a kiss in before Aki lol). Neko/Marika are just there as foil to help progress the plot/MCs into doing more things. She makes her declaration and they go running. The animu is pretty faithful to the manga fwiw. There's just some shoddy writing along the way.

I don't know either, maybe she was faking it but then she also was sad (tearing up, the heartbreak part) so maybe it wasn't as fake as he thought it was. They never did say what her relationship with him was though his mom seemed to know something about her. Also, Masamune is in love with Aki so not really surprising that he'd turn her away after the initial part.

+ Show Spoiler +There's a lot of gaps in Neko's timeline that isn't revealed to the reader yet, even with the series a few more chapters from finale. From what I recall, she used to be a fatty as a kid too and like Masamune, she ends up thin and pretty in the present setting. She's sick but we don't know exactly why or with what. And yeah, loli mom did recognize Neko when she+Yoshino came over to visit. Amnesia is such a terribad plot device.

I mean, Ecchan may be twisted but so far she's not lying to herself or someone else. Yet. I'm only on like book 5.

This isn't anime related, per se, but holy shit. The Gintama manga is making the anticipation for the final arc that more intense. It's been a minute since I've grinned like a Cheshire cat reading a manga or anything. This is just brilliant comedy and writing. Everything is perfect.

+ Show Spoiler +Who is Moka? o.O I think Hanabi is a pretty decent character because we get enough insight of her thoughts so we see her being twisted but also questioning herself and her actions all the time.

It's just a bit tiresome when you see 20 billion things about how Your Name is the best anime ever and this untold masterpiece for months running while the vast majority of the world can't even see the thing. Calm down.  I think, functionality-wise, MAL is a great site. The ptw feature is incredibly helpful. Neo said he doesn't use the completed list. I personally do because it makes it much easier to recommend stuff to other people who ask for specific things. I can just sort my list and look for anime that apply. The watching list also keeps track of the episodes I have watched so far. It's obviously not necessary but it's a nice to have for me.
Furthermore it has a vast data base and nice search utility. The score-system can be tedious because of the massive amount of people who inflate the higher scores. However, it can be quite helpful to find new anime - just not in the way it was intended to. I personally use it to compare scores with people who got similar taste to me. That way I can take a look at anime they put a high score on and usually end up finding something interesting. Then there is the review function, which is very valueable for deciding whether the anime is worth the time or not. Usually reading one positive and one negative review does it for me.
I don't really care about the community over there for obvious reasons. The forums are a nice place to troll every few months or so, though. In the end, it just comes down how you approach it. Just ignore the shitters and use the features to your advantage.

It'd be impossible to keep track of my manga backlog without MAL. RSS feeds can only do so much when you have 50+ sporadically updated series. For all my gripes about the site, their database is pretty good.

Just watched ep1 of Kaze no Shoujo Emily. What a great first episode. The pacing was fast but not too fast - a lot happened this episode but it didn't feel rushed at all. Distinct characters and relations have already been introduced and are open for development from now on.
The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. Can't believe it brought me to the verge of tearing up in the first episode. So subtle and beautiful. I also like the art. The backround is beautifully drawn and the character designs rather remind of the 80s/90s.
