Edit: Damnit author you don't write an epilogue volume for the series then keep on writing. Seems like they had 2 vols come out this month in JP, tho one was a side story of Col and Myuri and their travels.

Like in Ushio to Tora for example. Now they did set up some explanations in ReZero but they weren't very convincing to me. Usually it went like this: Subaru yelled at everybody resulting in a fail. He jumped back in time, talked some nonsense to them (considering he was still an outsider) and everybody followed him, didn't question him further and appraised him all the way. + Show Spoiler [example] + Nobody was ever wary of him again about his connection to the white witch after a while, despite the fact that he never explained anything to them. Then, towards the end, he got killed by one of the fingers and jumped back in time and awoke in the middle of the strategic meeting after they killed the whale. What did he do: "Hey guys, I'm probably prone to being attacked and becoming a finger of the white witch." Everyone was like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh?". Then cut. No further questions. True harem shows like Yosuga no Sora. + Show Spoiler + Eh I see it as him building good will and trust slowly with key people then basically using them to help convince others. He got Roswaal/Emilia through events of the 1st 2 arcs then using their influence was able to bargain to get into the white whale team. He was turned down when he tried to get help by himself but he was able to get to 2 of the candidates through Roswaal's authority for mining rights. Then ofc people start to like him for his own actions. The cutting of the meeting was basically just them triaging what to cut out. We didn't need to see him explain his circumstances yet again by that point. I would agree somewhat that it is a weakness that people don't look into his connection to the witch more. Though he very obviously hates her and the cult (no one besides people like Rem can tell anyways) so you could say him telling people about it and then moving to crush them it looks more like he had a bad encounter with them in the past and that is why.

Was easily AOTS for me this time around. Good thing we're getting an ep13 OVA because I don't think s2 will ever happen no matter how popular it apparently was.

S2 would be welcome, but I doubt it too.

Amanchu was largely okay, but Teko isn't nearly as good of an iyashikei mc as Akari is. It doesn't help that the manga doesn't hit its stride until the later bits. Alderamin... I guess I liked the tactical bits, but overall, I feel like this is just an inferior version of Gunka no Baltzar or Koukoku no Shugosha (continuation manga never). Character-wise, I hated everyone. Ikta is insufferable, Yatori lacks personality, and everyone else is effectively irrelevant. Shoutouts to convenient childhood friends and SCIENCE. As far as I'm concerned, Illya has an awful story that enables certain characters to do cool things. They did a decent job of adapting the fights, but the presentation in 2wei was far superior. I suppose it doesn't help that the Ainsworths really suck as antagonists. PA Works can't write. I knew Kuromukuro was going to shit the bed once the plot started going, but it was still pretty depressing to watch it happen. If they had kept the show going as a comedy sol, I would've been a lot happier. Mob Psycho 100 turned out to be decent despite the start of the show being kinda boring. I actually really like what they did with the fights. IMO, it's far better than anything we got in OPM. When Rewrite got announced, I was pretty sure it was going to suck. When they said it was 1 cour, I knew it was going to suck. Sure enough, it sucked. At least we got a bunch of Inoue screentime. And thus, my AOTS is a Taiwanese puppet show. On the bright side, this season did give me time to go through some pretty good shows on my backlog...

I mean, it's very possible that I missed that part but when did Subaru achieve the status to offer something like mining rights on Roswaal's territory without his consensus? I also remember that they didn't agree at first but later agreed for some stupid reason and I thought "THAT convinced you but the mining rights alone didn't?" I might remember that wrong though as well. Would have to rewatch the episode for more details and it's honestly too tedious right now. Everything else was mediocre or bad. Although Mob Psycho 100 has been a lot better for the last couple of episode because it almost entirely focussed on the fights, which are by far the best of the show. The action is incredible entertaining here. I like the animation style. The action is incredible entertaining here. I like the animation style. What did you watch? + Show Spoiler + Basically Roswaal thought something might happen so he gave Rem the authority to negotiate on his behalf and offer things like the mining rights. Rem basically allowed Subaru to be the main negotiator after talking to him because he had the same goal and was passionate about it and after arc 2 trusts him very much. The mining rights were a big get to get the trade girl candidate to lend her influence (she basically won big in this scenario because she gets a piece of the action and to be able to be rid of the whale that creates large losses) Krusch was already planning an expedition for the whale so she wins as well because she gets intel on the whale. She was still kinda iffy at that point but the other girl coming in and throwing her support behind the plan and offering her troops sealed it. Subaru just capitalized on his only card (mining rights) combined with what he figured out about Krusch to snag support from 2 candidates in negotiations. When he tried to do it in desperation without any chips he got rebuffed and even exploited. His whole thing is learning things and applying that knowledge to move pieces into place since he isn't an OP himself. He slowly has built a network of influential and OP characters and basically his ability allows him to gain knowledge to effectively use his connections to its max.

That was pretty meh, especially the execution. I also like how Roswaal thought "something might happen" so he gave Rem the authority to negotiate but didn't consider the fact that Rem couldn't possibly know what would happen. She only knew because Subaru knew after the rewind. In the end, I know why things happened. They just seemed way too convenient, especially considering how wary everybody was of Subaru and how easily some not even well though-out sentences of his could change their mind completely. And considering all the courtesy going on I thought it was pretty surprising that people even listened to Subaru at all. Even when he talked "calmly" his voice always sounded smug to the point where those people surely would have kicked him out the palace.
