That's impossible, because there's no more source material. The author got lazy. I'd also be wary of any further seasons just because of how much they managed to fuck up s2. The LNs themselves were starting to drag too. I think there's an OVA coming out next season though. Goddamnit. They ended the anime with a bit of a cliffhang too. An OVA would be nice, but... dammit.
the anime is a cliffhanger because the author is busy with a bunch of projects so volume 12 isn't out yet. Not like you would really want it though because they got through volume 10 in like 1 episode and volume 11 in like 2. Series is gonna end really soon anyways so i doubt they would give it another season. maybe 1 or 2 more volumes left of the ln.

Feel like Re: Zero is a 6. It's better than your average Anime in many areas but it has some flaws that bring it down.
+ Show Spoiler + The first 2 arcs Subaru was a bit slow but he was overall enjoyable watch - then the start of the 3rd arc he goes completely insane and there were a couple episodes so cringey that I almost dropped the show. He recovers and it gets better again, but the culmination of my disappointment during that time and other flaws in the show made me enjoy it less after the first 2 arcs.
Some of the other things I didn't like:
-Old man's love story had zero chemistry and believability and felt very rushed
-The Rem/Subaru scene where Subaru is out of his mind and Rem confesses her love for him, the whole series of events in that scene were bizarre and hard to watch
-Subaru's change in character at times seems too spontaneous, perhaps he is bipolar, but he does ridiculously stupid things for long periods without taking in anything then suddenly becomes a genius, he has no consistency in his competence and mannerisms
-Pacing of the show, some of the fighting dragged on (and none of it impressed me to be honest), some of the drama dragged on, many of the episodes, especially in the 3rd arc, had me watching it in segments as I would lose interest every few minutes
-Subaru's obsession with Emilia feels weird, especially since she is gone for half the series and Rem did a lot more for him than Emilia
A couple of things I did like:
-The main plot device of him backtracking in time but not having full knowledge of the mechanic, it's a great idea and I think it would be great for a more action based Anime too
-Some of the possibilities and hints of Subaru potentially being "Pride" as well as the interesting witch dynamic connected to both Subaru and Emilia
-First 2 arcs

I can't see rating ReZero above an 8, hell even above a 7. Everything from the art to animation to soundtrack was completely average/ok. The character writing was mostly pretty bad. The story was decent with some hick-ups that were pretty bad as well as some pretty good parts. The only reason I can see someone rating it a 9 or 10 would be a rating that was based 100 % on enjoyment. If I did that it would probably get a 3 or 2 from me or so.

Reddit thread has 2.9k comments for finale. Impossible it's above an 8 :D Maybe in a year i'll check it out but every other recently made massively hyped show turned out to be shit.

Maybe they would rate it a 9 or 10 because they disagree with your assessment. I certainly do. Its an interesting world and has some great characters in it. Subaru is annoying at times but hey it is how he is supposed to be and the treatment of his mental trauma was pretty good. Emilia fills her position in the story just fine. Rem and Ram are both great for different reasons and characters like Wilhelm and Krusch add a fair amount to round out the cast nicely. From what I learned from reading vol 1 is that they overall managed to condense things and not cut out too much stuff so it paced itself pretty well and built some great and memorable moments.
The animation was perfectly fine and in general had some good voice acting and some good pieces in its sound track.

rezero
+ Show Spoiler +tfw #1 girl isn't in the finale.
I hope they get another season though, I don't feel like reading the LN and there's too many unexplained things

Re:zero was a 7 at the highest as far as i'm concerned. Its weakest point were its characters who were honestly all incredibly subpar. Only exception were some decent side-characters who didn't even get a lot of screentime anyway.

Just don't. It's the standard fare LN adaptions with the MC creating a harem around himself while there is no reason why people would follow and trust him so much aside from the fact that he is a short-tempered jerk. At least Kirito was OP as fuck so people had a reason to stay on his side, lol.
I agree with Unleashing. There were some decent side characters that didn't get enough screen time. However, we argued about this topic before and I think there is a good chance that the author would mess up those characters if he had to write more than a few lines for them.

Its not a harem show lol. He has Emilia and Rem and he already made his choice. Not even close to a harem. I think you also missed explanations as to why people ended up going along with his plans. Like getting the white whale team together. There was very specific reasons why he was able to pull that off. Everything built on itself, he just didn't walk in and everyone was like "he is the mc we must follow him".

I wonder what type of anime the people like who rate rezero so low?

I would give it a 9. Really fun show, really surprised me, had mystery, action, suspense, adventure, the whole 9 yards.

I dropped Re:0 at episode 17 and just read the pastebin since the drama was completely retarded in the third arc, If I bothered to rate my shows I'd probably give it a 4, the first two arcs were a 7 for me since it was a pretty fun thriller but the third arc went full retard real fast.
Why can't anime be original with their timeloops besides the usual cycle of :
1: Character fucks up 2: Character loops back 3: Repeat until Character stops fucking up or some Deus Ex Machina fixes everything.
Edit: Gotta say though I never understood the hate Subaru got early on. I've seen plenty of people that wanted him skinned alive after the first 4-6 episodes and I have no idea what he did to warrant such a reaction.

Of course it's not a harem show according to the traditional meaning but I thought by now we had established a second meaning for harem in this thread: the vigorous love for the MC and will to follow him by everyone. Like in Ushio to Tora for example. Now they did set up some explanations in ReZero but they weren't very convincing to me. Usually it went like this: Subaru yelled at everybody resulting in a fail. He jumped back in time, talked some nonsense to them (considering he was still an outsider) and everybody followed him, didn't question him further and appraised him all the way.
+ Show Spoiler [example] +Nobody was ever wary of him again about his connection to the white witch after a while, despite the fact that he never explained anything to them. Then, towards the end, he got killed by one of the fingers and jumped back in time and awoke in the middle of the strategic meeting after they killed the whale. What did he do: "Hey guys, I'm probably prone to being attacked and becoming a finger of the white witch." Everyone was like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh?". Then cut. No further questions.

True harem shows like Yosuga no Sora.

Eca would probably rate rezero low. But he reads it anyways and finds it amusing enough I think... Well that's certainly more interest in it than most people here. Unless he is just bored or something. Then he should read sakura no uta :D.
I thought he was fine with the furry romance and only really hated the bs economics that hasekura writes in all of his stories.
|
Just because I find something entertaining doesn't mean that I don't think it is objectively bad writing, why do you think I go through narou shit?
Rezero wasn't good writing by any means, but it was fun to see Subaru suffer and the time loop shit was mostly just used to increase his suffering. Also the world is decently fun and the author draws a decent balance between worldbuilding and stuffing in random mechanics to make a gary stu. Besides, it isn't exactly like anime has had anything worthwhile far as time related stuff goes except for two episodes of jintai using almost every sf trick in the book for a pun.
As for spicy wolf, I saw some shit about Horo dying, given the author it is probably fake death anyway. The character interactions and banters of the series was decent, but everything else sucked. tldr read only for furry romance.
|
I feel like we went over this just the other day.
If the author pulls that shit I'll fly to Japan and cry on his front door. Furry romance is the greatest part of it wtf. Only way it could possibly be better is if Lawrence was a furry wolf girl. OH SHIIIIIIIIT. Just had an epiphany. Furry Senjou traveling with Holo. Is this heaven?
edit: After the initial euphoria I've realized this plan won't work. No way Senjou would sit there for over 14 novels and not have starting sucking face. Vol 14 is just making me so frustrated.
