Could just be that's the MO of the company that got the license so they just did what they always do. Business is weird, silly and messy at times. It's sad that we have at least two massive examples of "fighting" piracy in GOG and Steam yet no real progress outside of that sphere has happened. Ok this isn't quite true, Netflix and Amazon Prime seems to be following similar concept rather well. Maybe it's just the fact that Japan is so insanely behind the times when it comes to certain aspects of tech. That still requires BDs to get licensed, subs and at a cost that isn't $100 per 2 episodes. Other merch is harder at least for me since textile duties are fucking massive here and I'm not a figure kind of guy. At least I have 17 vols of Spice and Wolf ;( the BDs/DVDs that sell outside JP usually are cheaper if you can manage the wait. Example:

but then again, there's a middleman inbetween and they're lots cheaper to begin with

Really just depends, that's licensed by Aniplex I think? Kara no Kyoukai is like $350 for less content lol. Then factor in import duties and exchange rates. It basically amounts to being 10-15x more expensive than the same length series/movies I can buy locally.
At the end of the day a customer shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to give money to a company. That's just terrible business marketing.

Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan was great again this week, just cought up till the latest EP. Really funny show which works quite well as a short.

Yep, buying the medium itself helps a lot more - and I like having a BD or something anyways.

Holo is a godess. Literally.

It really depens on your country. I recently decided to purchase the BDs for GitS:SAC 1+2 from Amazon. I decided to get them from amazon.uk because I paid 13 and 20 pounds respectively. On amazon.de it would have been 60 € each... Go figure.

Also today's JoJo episode will be hype as fuck, the second half of Sheer Heart Attack has some of my favorite moments from DIU so I can't wait ! That is terrible. How's that even possible? Isn't that the point of streaming that there is no region lock? Do you pay less than american people? no, it's always been like that. I still remember that the last time I checked was while Railgun-S aired (MAL says Sep 2013) and it was like 5-6 shows total that you could get from germany? So 1) that's actually an improvement 2) It might be better in Germany than other european countries simply due to population There was actually a pretty nice article on that on MAL a while ago, let me see if I can find it. Long story short, they're pretty much just getting rights for the english speaking market (US + Australia + UK?) as a "pack" and it just makes no sense given how small Anime is in European countries to negotiate something with each and every country for a couple pennies. So it just never happens They don't even need to localize the shit. English subs would be just fine, wouldn't they? And Anime is becoming more and more popular all over europe. I'd think so too, but apparently not, idk. When I went watching Kizumonogatari because that got picked up by someone in Germany it ended up being german subs. So additional costs for them to translate it themselves and less they could offer for the rights to show it I'd assume. And I'm just sitting there asking myself why they didn't just use the english translation for a movie that you need to be 16 or older to get in anyways. I'd get it if we're talking about stuff for small kids but the 16+ population generally is able to understand english
The problem here might also be some weird licensing contract. I could imagine that you have to provide a german version in order to be allowed to license it in germany. It's kind of a german privilege to get everything translated...

Dropped it recently. Can't put up anymore with having 4 lines of dialouge from two different characters in the subs at once at all times. Humour also didn't really work for me most of the times.

Either bots or it has been become available on streaming sites tonight. 9,18 means #3 right now on MAL. :D I'm waiting for the HQ version to come out. Not sure why I would want to watch a Shinkai movie in subpar quality.

What? Bigfan never finished FMAB? I no longer consider him as my equal!!!!
That's because FMAB is boring as fuck around ep27 irrc. It will become better BigFan, go for it!
I am more shocked about the fact that I made it further into Kamigami no Asobi than he did after his talk about it not being thaaaat bad
What was around ep27? Wasn't Briggs around the middle show? Saying Briggs was boring will make me fight someone.

I don't even know what happened around ep27. The only thing I really remember from the middle part of FMAB was the journey to the fortress in the middle of nowhere with all the snow and that blond officer woman. Everything else was fairly forgettable. Or at least I forgott. I think things picked up again at ep 50.
So you are saying that Briggs was really boring??? Even Elem, supreme irrational hater and champion of FMA03, says Briggs was good. Briggs was great!
Briggs had Armstrong. How can that be boring!?
Isn't Briggs the fortress I was talking about? I said that was the only thing I can remember, the rest was boring.
You said the middle was boring, and Briggs was in the middle... If that isn't the case, then I'm not sure what you are talking about. After Briggs ended, didn't it lead right up to the final arc?
Briggs was a whole 20 episodes or more? If yes, then it was boring. I just remember that there were some cool episodes with ice and snow and a big fortress and a blond officer that gave a shit about superiors and did the right thing.
FMAB first op was great. Never skip! Tokyo Ghoul Unravel OP was also godly
Miragee, I'm so disappointed in you...
If it's only because of FMAB I don't really care. The show was good overall but nothing really special I would think or care about too much.
I'm going to rewatch FMAB from 20 and on only
