nobody can hate Dio brando....Diego on the other hand...

is cool to see people (numy) likes dio only from watching the anime haha, because i thought the bond of the viewer and dio doesnt develop that well compared to reading manga (because it takes more chapters to read in manga compared to a couple of chapters of manga made into 1 episode in anime). Dio has sickening amount of fan(girls) in japan lol and that's why jojo is amazing, the villians might have a bigger fanbase than the MC characters as a whole lol.
Diego is fine but the amount of facepalms people get from reading JoJo7 must be overwhelming haha.
Denmachi's first 5/6 episodes were brilliant, light hearted and all but then the whole world loves the MC is just annoying. More so the loli gets a couple of episodes to develop their story but the weapon dude gets sorted in half an episode. comon.

i was saying it sounds like you're all shitting on SAO simply because it's popular. Part of me wants to believe that when it aired or when you first watched it you really enjoyed it and thought it was good....but gradually over time (when it started gaining insane popularity) you changed you're minds about it.
maybe i donno what hipster means, but specifically not liking something b/c it's popular sounds like hipster to me (especially when you probably would like it if it wasn't popular and/or "underground/cult following" type of deal)

DIO is such an asshole but dam is he charismatic while he does it. You can't help like the guy even if you know you hate him at the same time. A bit sad we didn't see Pillar Men with stands. That must be so OP lol. Also is this part meant to be Jotaro's? It feels like it's more about everyone but Jotaro. Joseph was a bigger "Jojo" in this than him lol.
World Trigger is still looking good. Idk who that warper girl is but she's hot. Hope she stays in the show! Maybe i just like girls that would kill me if we ever met :<
edit: @ Above - I liked SAO initially but after a few eps in it became painfully obvious how bad the flaws of the story were going to be. Then it just becomes so much worse when they get married inside the game. It still baffles me how they could get married, adopt a kid and yet he treats her as a friend afterwards. Then don't get me started on the harem he gets. Those girls are so crazy for his dick that they barely holding off due to respect for the Mrs. Fleshlight. People can hate on something because they think it's bad. Popularity isn't the be all or end all. Excusing dislike as merely "hating because popular" is rather insulting to not only the person is question but also the story/show itself.
What happens with popular stuff isn't so much that people hate on something because of it's status. That may happen but I think it's far more rare than we think(At least in cases of stories, when it comes to people it definitely happens a lot). Instead since it's popular the absolute number of people that watch it are much greater while the percentage of people that dislike it stays the same so now you just have far more people disliking it purely because of greater numbers. Then you get the opposite spectrum people who dismiss complaints/dislike as being merely because of status. It just's just all so silly

Why the hell would i let what other people think about a show affect if i like it myself? I only finished both seasons of SAO because i watched it with a friend and we rarely drop shows we start watching together even if they're awful (Ugh, valvrave).
So, sorry to "disappoint" you, it has nothing to do with SAO being popular, i just genuinely think it's a bad series. That has fuckall to do with it not being 'underground' or 'cult' or it being popular.
Other people can like SAO if they want, i don't really care if they do. Doesn't affect me in the slightest. To each his own.

I think for most people it was something like this with SAO:
episode 1-2: Wow shit, this could actually be amazing. This is on it's way to be a 7/10 or 8/10 show!!! episode 3 up to arc 1 end: Wow... that had so much more potential... meh, still a 6/10. Not bad but I hoped it would have been so much better start of arc 2: the fuck is this end of arc 2: why didn't I just call it a day after arc1...
so the realization came quite quickly and had nothing to do with it being famous. You can quite accurately point out at what point in time most people thought it's going south. I really did like it a lot at first (first 3 episodes or so) but disliking the 2nd arc has nothing to do with being a hipster.

See this is my problem.... Through this whole thing on SAO a lot of ppl say things like "flaws of the story" and don't actually give any examples of what's flawed or what they didn't like. A lot of times bland general statements like "bad story" and "bad characters" are being used without ever saying what actually makes the story or characters bad.
Then it just becomes so much worse when they get married inside the game. It still baffles me how they could get married, adopt a kid and yet he treats her as a friend afterwards.
I never saw him as going back to treating her as just a friend afterwards. i mean, when he woke up all he could think about was seeing her....then the whole point of fairy arc (to me) is him trying to get her out of the game so he can be with her. I don't understand how it's not obvious that after they got married in the game they were a couple from then on in and out of the game.
Then don't get me started on the harem he gets. Those girls are so crazy for his dick that they barely holding off due to respect for the Mrs. Fleshlight.
i disagree here also. I think the only one that wanted him was the blacksmith and when she found out that her friend (asuna) liked him and was more involved with him than she was she backed off out of respect of their friendship (asuna and blacksmiths friendship)
People can hate on something because they think it's bad. Popularity isn't the be all or end all. Excusing dislike as merely "hating because popular" is rather insulting to not only the person is question but also the story/show itself.
I wasn't really trying to just excuse dislikes. and im also not saying popularity is everything. I'm just saying what it looks like from my viewpoint. this goes back to the beginning of my post here but it's more of seeing ppl giving general statements with no depth or context as to why they dislike it.

you make a really good point here.

Well, nobody is ever going to admit that they're a hipster, Unleashing, so that discussion is kinda moot. Still, I do share Ryuhou)aS('s sentiment. There is a habit here to exaggerate one's criticism of popular series, just on the premise that they're popular. When a show that a lot of people like has a flaw that we perceive, we feel the need to be more vocal about it, proportionately to the number of opinions we might go against if you will. Still though, you have to realize that there is nothing wrong with falling for the same popular tropes in anime that "plebs" and people with so-called "shit taste" fall for ;D. Anime is already kind of a guilty pleasure, not some higher-order cultural elite thing, so might as well embrace the taste, however shitty it might be.
But just because I'm curious, and as an example, what precisely did you dislike in SAO, Unleashing? As for me, I wasn't too fond of the fan-service, and I've started to dislike it overall when Suzuha and her brother-complex was involved. But I didn't find "flaws in the story" (if any) particularly bothering. I would think the harem part doesn't bother you seeing as you're kind of a fan of DxD ;D.

SAO 1 was like 9/10 for me until the point when it was just KiritoXAsuna. After that it went downhill and the ending was meh.... still 7/10 for me.
SAO 2 was 5/10 at most points and 7/10 at some.
|
People have gone in depth into why they didn't like SAO, many times at many different points in the past. Saying people only hate it because its popular is down right insulting.
|
Well, fine then. "Hate" is kind of a strong word though.
