It's an adaptation of a manga written/drawn by the author of Full Metal Alchemist which itself was an adaptation of a series written by the Legend of the Galactic Heroes author. Hard to get more promising than that. Also there's really no need to know a lot about Lupin to enjoy it. Other stuff with promise: Kyoukai no Rinne is written by the author of Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, Nanoha ViViD is a manga adapatation of the continuation of Nanoha sooo if you like Mechacal Girls you'll like that, Ninja Slayer from TriGGer which hasn't screwed up anything yet. | ||

It's not related to the Monogatari you are probably thinking of. | ||
