Akame Ga Kill seems to have no interesting characters, for me. Watched episode one of nanatsu, certainly seems to fit the bill for OP characters :p bit ridiculous but I enjoyed it. I will try the rest of this anime .
The sports animes look pretty uninteresting to me. Maybe the board games ones would be good but I'm not sure how much cool strategy you can get out of that as opposed to all the fun gimmicky things possible in Yugioh. Might try Fate again, the animation does look good, but the setting is not what I'd usually go for.
Thanks again
A few you might like. Hellsing ultimate Read or Die Hunter X Hunter

It's ok to keep introducing new chars. but each time you gotta give them a proper intro and backstory and connection to the overall arching story/themes. You can't just be like...oh yea here's this new guy...and then be like oh yea here's 12 other new guys. Oh yea, we were gonna show you something about those other guys but nah...here's a bunch of new guys.
You should probably just read the manga (if you haven't already). Much better than the anime adaption(s).

They've only introduced like 3 important characters tho Mado akira (Mado's daughter) Eto / takatsuki sen (little girl that leads Aogiri tree / horror novelist) Mr. Kamishiro (Rize's husband)
Out of all the things to complain about, I'm surprised its about the characters instead of ep4's QUALITY animation.
I think ep1-3 were pure setup for later. I don't really see it as episodic.

I hope you never come across Bleach in your life ;D
But yeah, Tokyo Ghoul is pretty mediocre. Not straight bad, but not really worth watching. Animation has dropped in quality like crazy too...

Shachi (Kamishiro) is Rize's father. Tokyo Ghoul anime is generally disappointing considering the source material, the pacing and animation quality are pretty bad, was hoping that Root A would improve the pacing, but it seems to be even more rushed than the first season. The manga does a much better job in general and especially so with regards to the characters (although its still hard to know whats going on at some points in the manga).

It's hilarious that you say that about bleach. Bleach anime is far superior to Tokyo ghoul anime in almost every aspect. Sure there's a lot of characters, but they all have their own personalities and backstory and connections to the main cast.

Are you serious? the only 3 chars that aren't new are MC, Amon, and technically that girls brother. Every single character except for those 3 fits under my complaints. And yes I agree that the animation for this episode was a little lackluster but hey, I'm watching and liking World Trigger...i can't really complain about animation. Also, my complaint isn't about characters exactly, it's more about the poor story writing. Characters are a part of that.
I donno how exactly to put this...it's like the chronology is all messed up? i dont think that's what i want to say. Like...for every show im watching each episode ends, and then the next episode picks up right where the previous one left off. In TG each episode ends, and then the next episode starts and there's like a whole episodes worth of time in between the two that goes unexplained, not shown or even talked about.

They were all introduced in S1. They aren't new. here's a list of who are shown in s1 that are important Hide Anteiku Ayato Juzo CCG guy that wears ghoul armor. The other ccg guy with the constipated face that led the raid at the end of s1 Tsukiyama
Perhaps you're expecting too much importance from characters that were never meant to be important.
I don't even think Tokyo ghoul is even that good (manga or anime) but its problems really isn't its' characters.
the anime is a terrible adaptation to the manga. i would say that they are trying too much to keep scenes from the manga and try to brute force it onto the anime by changing without consideration of the context. it is like wizard of oz cept dorothy makes a party with the witches and the antagonists are the original party. the goal is still the same in looking for the wizard + Show Spoiler +
The hanged man's McGuffin
. and throw in some random flying monkeys encounters which has no explanation.

Root A is original route. Not a manga adaption. The author is probably keeping the major plot points but using a different setup to get there.
Xam'd was weird. Like, really, really weird. Eureka7 was just as weird, but it was also like Gurren Lagann except with LOVE instead of DRILLS. Xam'd just had the weirdness.
Still a good series, though. Just...really fucking weird.

I was more talking about the bad guys than about the good guys. Bad guys don't get any more random than in Bleach. You must remember the first 60 episodes of Bleach or something ;D
we finally see the lieutenant and Kaizuka. Slaine established himself really well but lol at taking that battle all by himself. He's quite something with Tharsis ;; I'm not sure how Inaho plans to beat him when he seems invincible at times.
Damn, I don't know exactly why because in hindsight it wasn't that emotional but I got teary-eyed at some point in Death Parade 4. This show is good. Looking forward to next ep, looks like some new arbiter or something will show up.

Last time I didn't really like any of the shows I was recommended, but I later found Samurai Champloo, so I think it's possible there are more animes out there that I haven't heard of and would like.
My favourites: Claymore, FMA, Samurai Champloo, Fairy Tail. Also enjoyed: Death Note, Naruto, Yugioh, Pokemon, Elfen Lied, AOT.
Don't like/meh: Bleach, Fate Stay Night, SAO, etc.
So I like dark animes, preferably with action/overpowered characters and good animation. Any ideas?
Berserk, Twelve Kingdoms, Chronicle of Lodoss War, Gungrave, Trigun, HnK, Kaiji The Ultimate Survivor, Requiem from the Darkness, Michiko to Hatchin, obligatory Brynhildr in the Darkness and One Piece.
