Back for my annual recommendation request! This usually doesn't go very well because I'm quite picky, but it's worth a shot. Last time I didn't really like any of the shows I was recommended, but I later found Samurai Champloo, so I think it's possible there are more animes out there that I haven't heard of and would like.

My favourites: Claymore, FMA, Samurai Champloo, Fairy Tail.
Also enjoyed: Death Note, Naruto, Yugioh, Pokemon, Elfen Lied, AOT.

Don't like/meh: Bleach, Fate Stay Night, SAO, etc.

So I like dark animes, preferably with action/overpowered characters and good animation. Any ideas?

You like fanservicy, dark and MC with huge plot armor.

Try Black Lagoon (maybe)

Have you tried sport shounen anime ? try at least one maybe like kuroko or prince of tennis or something maybe you'll like it since i have not heard bad feedbacks when it comes to sports animu.

Nanatsu no taizai. OP protags and OP antagonists. Action shounen.

Fate/Zero: which is dark and action and has good music. I'm gonna assume the fate that you watched was the 2006 version which is pretty trash. So you should watch Fate Stay Night 2014 UBW by Ufotable. That is good.

Seems like you like sports / Game anime too. Haikyuu, Cross Game, Hikaru no go, touch, and prince of tennis are okay too.

The Favourites and what you said you like don't really match up though lol. Nanatsu is pretty dam good action shounen this season. Akame Ga Kill I guess fits in the dark but not actually dark action that you may enjoy.

Akame ga kill is not dark. The only thing it has is that main characters can die and they do so in the bloodiest and gruesome way possible for no real reason really.

Let's get one thing clear. Utaha is not an oneesan, she's a senpai. While a senpai is at times also an oneesan-type character, Utaha is (at the moment) certainly not.

Is she a good senpai? Eh, but obviously she's a bad oneesan because that's not her archetype.

She isn't an ojousama either. :| Not in the sense of the actual exaggerated ojousama archetype.

As far as archetypes go, she's just a sharp-tongued/quick-witted/almost-monotonous beautiful intelligent girl, much like Senjougahara and Yukinon without the baggage. iuno what you'd classify that as, but it's neither oneesan nor ojousama. I just call it the Senjougahara since she seems to have popularized it.

Nanatsu had a good start, but the power-levels are starting to get stupid. Given it hasn't been on for too long, I don't think it's a good sign.

Thanks for the suggestions. I also like Berserk if that is considered dark? I feel like Claymore, FMA, AOT, etc are all pretty dark in places. Akame Ga Kill seems to have no interesting characters, for me. Watched episode one of nanatsu, certainly seems to fit the bill for OP characters :p bit ridiculous but I enjoyed it. I will try the rest of this anime

The sports animes look pretty uninteresting to me. Maybe the board games ones would be good but I'm not sure how much cool strategy you can get out of that as opposed to all the fun gimmicky things possible in Yugioh. Might try Fate again, the animation does look good, but the setting is not what I'd usually go for.

Really curious about Death Parade. The last episode didn't bring anything new, I thought. Just two new characters taking part in the game. I hope they explore more the universe (Although, an episodic show wouldn't be too bad... just too repetitive)

i have come to the conclusion that Tokyo Ghoul is pretty shit. Like the idea was really cool, and the fighting is pretty cool..and the characters in the first season were just okay...but the story telling is just wayyyy all over the place. 1st cour was a little bit better but Tokyo Ghoul A's story telling is just so bad. It's so all over the place...and they keep just throwing in new chars. without ever properly introducing any of the older chars. that they just introduced. It's pretty bad. I had high hopes but they were dashed fairly quickly. Each episode is not connecting with the previous ones. It's ok to be episodic but this show isn't supposed to be episodic....so i just have no clue wtf they think they're doing

It's ok to keep introducing new chars. but each time you gotta give them a proper intro and backstory and connection to the overall arching story/themes. You can't just be like...oh yea here's this new guy...and then be like oh yea here's 12 other new guys. Oh yea, we were gonna show you something about those other guys but nah...here's a bunch of new guys.
