Apparently, you think Super Robot shows are lame. Why is that? The appeal of Super Robot shows is this: First they make the main character a hot blooded guy who is designed to be the "badass", avoiding all the Shinji-esque bullshit, or all the Kira-crying, and replacing it with Ryoma going batshit insane and beating his enemies down, while wearing a face like this or this. Then they take the climatic action sequences from Real Robot shows (like for example, Freedom blasting away dozens of enemies at the same time, Double X Gundam firing its Satellite Cannons, Unicorn ramming Kshatriya through the colony wall yelled "GET OUT OF HERE!"), and make those the "regular" battles. Then they have even more over the top stuff for their climaxes. From our conversation about Unicorn, I can tell you like Real Robot shows at least. Honestly in the past, I used to be the same way, in liking Real Robot and disliking Super Robot. Back then I just felt like they were silly, plotless shows. I started to appreciate them more after Gurren Lagann, which despite its flaws, is a great gateway to Super Robot shows. Then Gunbuster showed me they could have a good plot as well. They were over the top, but going over the top and cutting Jupiter in half, or blowing up the center of the galaxy is just part of their appeal. You aren't supposed to ask "How exactly can that Robot lift that huge hammer, and how exactly does it turn whatever it strikes into light particles, and is there really a point in calling out the attack name?" You are supposed to go "HOLY SHIT GOLDION HAMMERRRR"
No, no, no, you got me wrong. I like super robots too, but I enjoy them differently. I actually grew up watching mechas in the 90's with stuff like Yuusha Da Garn and absolutely loved stuff Sunrise made.
That said, gundam is a unique franchise of its own and I love the UC generation. G gundam absolutely trounced victory gundam in ratings, and basically destroyed the UC franchise and spawned off numerous AC gundams with their love and peace philosophy and are essentially super robots in disguise. No matter how preachy the UC centuries were about how terrible wars were, the general consensus was that you don't make your own group off 1 or 2 ships with an idol as a captain, and make and win wars on that alone.
It's... just not very gundam-ish. In other words, my complaints lies within the direction, hence why I said I didn't like the deviation that G gundam made.

It's... just not very gundam-ish. Oh, I see, I misunderstood you. I agree G Gundam isn't very Gundam-ish, but I think the series needed something new to make it fresh again after Victory. Plus, since Zeta Gundam set the bar so high for Gundam shows, Double Zeta and Victory must have feel like huge disappointments in comparison.

Well, I finally watched ep 5 of Ore no Imouto. I can't say I have too high of an opinion of Ayase after that though.
|
Agreed. Stupid misunderstands on there part are so damn annoying.
God Gundam Unicorn was orgasmic. But fuck dude these releases are WAY too long.

Truth. It's like watching the Matrix and then realizing there were two much shittier sequels to it. That said, most of UC is solid, just varying qualities of it.

Ayase is the the character in OreImo that doesn't get nearly as big of a part as she should, manipulative yandere(esque)? Come on.

yandere? Edit: Oh I get it.
Ayase's reaction didn't surprise me too much, but I agree. Her role in Kirino's life seems big, so I think just having both of them make up so randomly in ep5 is a little bit too quick I think. Still, Ayase still is disgusted with Kirino's hobby, so I'm probably just overthinking.

I know I'm a bit behind on this, but I just watched TWGOK ep 4. Is it bad that Keima reminds me so much of myself?

Well I mean, I hate real life, and play games all day. And I hate real life girls (yet I'm good at talking to them). And I would totally do what Keima did at the beginning of ep 4, just swallowing the toast whole while never looking away from my game. xD
I just wish my life had someone cute like Elsee ;_;

No. Well they are pretty fun and entertaining reads. and I must say there is certain level of satisfaction when clearing storylines. Some are definitely good reads out there that has good storyline and drama. Clannad and Kanon being prime examples since KEY is so dam popular.

I've wanted to for a long time, but how can I? It's not like they're for sale in the US.

I love Type-Moon but they only have two VNs, and one of them I feel is overrated especially in light of Nitro+' Muramasa.
