I probably have to rewatch the whole thing to remember. Exactly this!! Have a hard time following. Without watching the other gundam, feel like im missing some stuff If you haven't watched any other Gundam before, I can guarantee you that's what the problem is.

I read the first few chapters of the manga but for whatever reason i didnt chase it or i forget to chase it lol. there's absolutely nothing compelling about this series at all. didn't watch index but railgun just seems like a really shitty slice of life any compelling plot point is absorbed and destroyed by the story it has to tell it seems like (ie, an alternate telling of index) and the world just isn't very interesting Tonari Kaibutsu
Edit: On the topic of visually stunning. Go for Hanasaku Iroha, more on the slice of life genre.

If kara no kyoukai counts, I recall that looking pretty amazing as well.

I'm in the mood of watching something not for the story Shinkai Makoto movies Recent stuff by PA Works, UFO Table, KyoAni Gundam Unicorn, no competition. I'd actually say that Yamato 2199's on par with Unicorn in terms of visuals. It's not done though. ~_~

Kyouai Senjou no Horizon look great also.

Watching Majestic Prince. I know I will enjoy this series.
+ Show Spoiler [Majestic Prince 01] +Lol, lets throw a bunch of kids, who are clearly not ready for war, into battle. Give them a quick crash course minutes before deployment. And be all non-chalant about it. Such a clear indication that we shouldnt worry about anyone being in danger at all, haha. Also lets you know how serious were supposed to take this series. I like it :D
All the female instructors are hot as hell too. That one lolipop scene was amazing. And the oppai instructor, oh god, cant forgot about her...
Edit: Too late Sent. This is AOTS.

Watched the first few minutes. Looks decent (assuming it is the alien v human and not just kids kidding around )
I've watched some Gundam, but not the older ones.

Specifically, if you haven't watched the original, Zeta, ZZ, and CCA, then that is your reason right there. UC is a rather developed setting, and jumping right into the end of the "main" part of UC with no prior experience/knowledge of it can lead to your current problem.

Knowing the UC storyline really adds to the enjoyment of unicorn ive found. Like knowing Minerva from zeta, psychoframe from CCA and of course good ol' Amuro and Bright.

Oh the Devil Survivor 2 anime looks pretty good so far. They streamlined the plot to remove the grinding and silliness of having people punching monsters as well as made the MC be more special. Which was kind of expected since I read the manga adaption, but the anime shortens things even more it seems like. I'm not sure how much people who haven't played the game will enjoy, but to me it's fan service to see the characters of a favorite game being animated. I wonder how much relationship conversation scenes they will be able to implement and what ending the series will take.

There are probably countless things in Unicorn you would understand better after having watched the old ones. Like, Marida and ZZ, Everythinginunicorn and CCA, etc etc.
