this post caused me to watch chihayafuru. I think i'm infected. I randomly stumbled upon Chihayafuru a few months ago. I was surfing MAL looking for something to watch and chose it because it was tagged "shoujo" and I wanted to find out what that term meant. Seriously, I didn't even do the obvious thing and google it. Turned out to be one of my favorite animes so far... Gotta listen to those irrational impulses more. Naniwa zi ni, sakuya kono hana :D loving this anime <3 I think you mentioned that you watched Chihayafuru before. What do you think of Taichi? Just curious  Being Taichi is utter suffering, but I think the anime gives a different view of him than the manga does which gives quite different opinions on him as a character. <<< rooting for arata all the way

No, LN has the exact same ending. It just feels awkward and out of place with rest of the series.

+ Show Spoiler +The ending of the the finale was meant to tie the series back to the first episode with an almost identical scenario. Akane replaces Ginoza, Ginoza replaces Kougami, new girl replaces Akane and the most interesting possible replacement is Kougami replacing Makishima. Kougami might want to destroy the Sibyl system even if in a different way than Makishima it would still be a crime. Although I'm guessing there won't be a second season since one of those "it's all a big circle imagine the rest" kind of endings. Still it was a very enjoyable series while it lasted.

Main thing was after Homura's "flashback" scene, they cut to the OP (from the TV series) after that. Wat? That was just awkward, having another OP play half way through the movie. It was even the same animations too =\.
Oh well, all in all, it wasn't too bad. I was hoping they'd have more hints about the third movie, but no luck. Also, the person who sat next to me during the second movie was a non-stop talking asshole during the entire movie. Made me remember why I hated going to theaters. Do you mind me asking where you went to see it?
