this post caused me to watch chihayafuru. I think i'm infected. I randomly stumbled upon Chihayafuru a few months ago. I was surfing MAL looking for something to watch and chose it because it was tagged "shoujo" and I wanted to find out what that term meant. Seriously, I didn't even do the obvious thing and google it. Turned out to be one of my favorite animes so far... Gotta listen to those irrational impulses more.

I just finished watching it. I loved it, to be honest. But yeah, I guess you can't get away without cutting some things. My memory is pretty poor (read: terrible) though, so I'm not certain of what was missing in the movie. Nothing felt odd about the movie, so I guess it was pretty well done.

What I mean is does anyone know something similar to Monster? Problem with liking Monster (like most people do, naturally, since it is amazing) is that you pretty much are at the top of the hill. It doesn't get better in its genre. But if you liked the way they handled characters etc, I would recommend Legend of the Galactic Heroes cos the arrangement feels very similar and they're both very long series.
that sounds sad is just different interest and taste, while it requires huge popularity to get the animation of a piece of work unless it is originally from anime (which is so damn rare).
Try book of bantorra, one of the anime that i enjoyed every much from the past 5 years. Also C the money and probability, durararara and the older Bacanno!. But still all these are different from monster, monster has a very rare setting in that genre.

You can use Rizon.net, mibbit or mIRC, etc.

Or just use Trillian, which has a irc plugin you need to enable, not the best irc tool but if you use it already then it's convenient.

That conspiracy was the entire reason that Hayate eventually goes berserk. + Show Spoiler + Yes, they did cut the entire conspiracy thing which weakens the plot a lot. I kind of understand why though because they would've had to explain it and the movie was still 2.5 hours without it. Instead, they introduce Rein much earlier and have the Book of Darkness act on its own so the plot is changed just enough for it still to work. As far as skipped battles: the most notable are the battles on the other planets. They also shorten others such as the first battle where instead of Nanoha being badass at the end, she and Fate just get owned pretty fast and it ends. Obviously, all the battles involving the twin familiars are excluded too because they don't even make an appearance lol.
sure, they skipped them running into Suzuha and Arisa but that isn't really important. We got our white devil speech though. To be honest, I'd say series>movie especially if you were new to Nanoha. It was a great movie but since the original didn't really have filler, basically everything that was cut was a disappointment.

That's disappointing, the battles on the other planets were the battles where both Nanoha and Fate got their payback from their initial ass-whopping. And now that's gone? And the whole conspiracy thing is gone? I can't believe they would remove either of those things. Well, I guess it was a vain hope that the second movie could be as excellent as the first one :<
