As for Saya no Uta, last time I saw a torrent at HF for it, it was the original edition. I was looking for the renewed edition, which I recall has upscaled graphics.

![]() Thoughts that are probably spoilers for the second season - + Show Spoiler + I didn't really like the first season very much because I'm not a fan of that sort of series - and it felt like it didn't even really have a point. The second season made the entire series shine as a whole to me, and is one of my top recommendations now. As a standalone, the first one wasn't very good imo (just because I dislike the genre). Am I the only one who thinks like this? ._.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni is happily sitting, aging, on my desktop. Unwatched and unloved. It might be super awesome but I don't know yet =l

When I searched for it on Google, I did not get very satisfying results. Also, you are the first person to bring up a "renewed edition" so that makes me wonder if it even exists. But I still recommend that you still play this game even if you cannot find the renewed edition. Yeah I just called that renewed, I recall looking it up and seeing that they had upscaled the graphics a bit. After I finish with my current quota of things to read I'd probably get to it whether I can find that or not though. Umineko is ten times better read than it is watched, in fact, just patch in Beato's voice and we are good to go :D

While some of the stuff certainly can be deleted when you switch media (detailed descriptions back in ep1 for every family member almost killed me, good thing I've been trained to put up with long random descriptions). However, cutting back on some of the most epic moments just makes no sense. Latest episodes has been something of a disappointment due to that, I hope that the last story arc will be presented in its full glory. That was some epic stuff.

![]() The only recent one that I don't need information about is October 6th and before. Except for Aoi Bungaku Series. That one piqued my interest before and still holds it after the first episode.

I've read Homunculus (go check it out, reeaaaaaally weird), Liars Game and another one I fail to remember the name (group of students trapped in a building, all tagged with barcodes which allows them to open doors, one of them is the killer, main protagonists are shown with bunny heads on the covers). Besides Neon Genesis Evangelion and a few episodes of Ghost Hunter I haven't seen any good anime for that genre (tried to get into Monster, but the drawingstyle really put me off). So, any recommendations? Serial Experiments Lain and Ergo Proxy are the first two that come to mind. Branching off of that, Elfen Lied examines both human psychology and racism (I guess it's called racism?). Paranoia Agent, Boogiepop Phantom, and Texhnolyze... Gilgamesh too. There's quite a few out there. I would also recommend checking out a few Cyberpunk genre animes if you're interested in psychological. Lain and Ergo Proxy are both strong examples of the Cyberpunk genre.

So, any recommendations? Akagi. Even if you don't understand the rules of mahjong, it's worth watching just for the psychology. Kaiji is by the same author from Akagi. It's kinda in the same vein as Liar Game, though I enjoyed Liar Game more. Kaiji is still worth checking out, though.
