I realize people may think the plot progresses slow through its episodic style and that there is not enough excitement, but you should still be able to see the strong points of the anime, which is its great atmosphere accompanied with an excellent soundtrack and art. Even though the philosophical questions it raises about being human has been done before, it still does so with originality and compassionate style.
I think it's more relevant discussing how the romance category should be reworked, like EchOne mentioned.
Yeah dude. Episodic animes rules! Katanagatari. <3

Yeah, like Super Robots are robots with [essentially in many cases] super powers, and Real Robots are walking tanks or jets. Very different, and should get their own categories.

Ga Rei Zero... I'm so confused.
Anyway why put Fate/Stay Night on the chart? Didn't people say it was terrible? Are you trying to fill in spots just for the sake of filling it up again?

I've always wondered how exactly mecha fans distinguish between the two of these, since giant robots are never a particularly realistic form of combat. As an example, tell me, which of the categories would Zeta Gundam and Gundam Seed belong to?

Its easy to tell the difference. It isn't about realism. The term "Real Robot" and "Super Robot" are just derived from Super Robot Wars, as a simple classification to tell the two part. Anyway, the difference isn't about realism, its about Real Robots are used as tools of wars, like tanks and jets. And Super Robots crush the sun with a giant hammer because they have courage, or they cut Jupiter in half because they are insane, etc etc. Its very easy to tell the difference between a war story and a super hero story, IMO.

Who were the people in episode 1? Were they just some random agents, fodder for the story to advance? Why is Yomi alive? Why is she evil? Who's dat kid with butterflies? Will he ever die, in the manga? Kid was normal once, what turned him evil? Are there any OVAs or anything more than the 12 episodes? Want moar.

There aren't any more animated Ga Rei productions, which is honestly kinda a good thing. The manga is not nearly as good as the anime, and is really silly for a long time. The manga didn't start getting "better" until the end, which was around the same time Ga Rei Zero was released lol

Ga Rei Zero gives you a batch of characters that look like they all have backstories.

I'm on ep.6 and yes I plan on reading the manga. I read on wiki that the anime is supposed to tell the backstory of Kagura and all, but it seems that butterfly kid doesn't die in any of the 3 arcs in the manga.

That time loop shit in Haruhi was so annoying. After the 2nd episode I just skipped to the last 3min of every episode until I saw the conclusion. What a waste of 5-6 episodes.

Here are some listed suggestions to changes. I'm just posting them to confirm before changing because it takes a while to edit.
1. (re)remove FS/N (I personally do not think it's necessary, because people introduced to anime won't care if the VN is better or not, FS/N was quite enjoyable to me when I watched it years ago) 2. readd moegenre. same ones as before? 3. remove air, fruits basket, toradora, full moon wo sagashite. Any complaints or alternatives? 4. switch gankutsuou to mystery and exchange it with boogiepop phantom 5. replace rahxephon with fafner 6. readd hourou musuko, what category? 7. remove card captor sakura. 8. can someone comment on some classics or things which i havent watched. Should Yokohama, Keaton, Cobra, Eyeshield 21, Fantastic Children, Kimikiss, Wings of Honneamise all stay for example? 9. remove .hack sign? 10. should mecha be merged into scifi and action? And should supernatural really be its own category?
Anything else I missed?

Anything else I missed? 5.) I've heard of Rahxephon, and haven't heard of Fafner. I can't say anything about the quality of each, other than Rahxephon is more popular, so I wouldn't replace them. 10.) I was being sarcastic on IRC. Mecha should not be merged, in fact it should be split. I've already given the reasons, and haven't really hard any counter arguements against it.

Anything else I missed? Ok, air and toradora should both stay, as much as you would hate that. Also, I know people who list CCS as one of their favorite anime ever, so I can't imagine that getting removed.
I suspect people will beat you for suggesting mecha get removed/merged.
Of the old classics, the only one of those I've seen is YKK. It's good (like Aria, but slower if that's even possible), and I'm tempted to leave them on there. After all a recommendation list should provide recommendations of less well known shows.
Only change here I really like is removing FSN lol

1. Sure. 2. Yes. 3. No to removing Toradora. Indifferent on the rest personally. 4. No clue. 5. No. 6. Yes. Not sure. 7. Personally indifferent. 8. I can only comment on ES21. I'd say stay. 9. Hmmmm. No. 10. No to merging Mecha. And I think the supernatural category discussion was done previously. The result being it stayed apparently.
