You should just watch the movies of 0079, Zeta, and CCA. That's only like 14 hours as opposed to over 100, and you should get all the information you need. Also shiragaku, BrTarolg is a cross-dressing brit. He pulls it off pretty well.

I might watch seed for now and when I get all the other stuff i'll go thru it. Basically know about the One Year War (the basics of 0079), Zeon, and know about Char. Everything else is bonus information that just helps you appreciate it more. Also, inb4 Kaal says "don't watch SEED", or "SEED is shit", or something similar. SEED is my favorite Gundam show, although I would highly suggest avoiding its sequel (SEED Destiny). Its definitely worth the watch, especially if you don't have much experience with Gundam shows (its one of the best 'gateway' Gundam shows for new watchers).

But one major problem I always had with Gundam is that it promotes peace, but let's blow up everything for peace. Almost like a Team America style.

![]() Well, if the other side hates your guts and wants to kill you, peace through negotiations would be difficult, at least initially. Fighting is a given for two reasons: 1) You kinda want to, y'know, not die 2) You want to make the other guy feel enough pain that they'll be willing to negotiate a ceasefire Plus a mecha series would be pretty damn boring if they never fought any battles.

Am I a trapcon if I read mostly trap-centric manga/watch anime, but its not for sexual reasons? Is that weird?

I've seen alot about avoiding destiny, however I will go thru it to finish the story (hate not finishing shows i start.) I have a little experience with gundam, I've seen both seasons of 00 and saw most of wing when i was little. I do enjoy them, mecha was my gateway into anime more than anything but there is of course more that just mecha, there's plenty of good anime out there.

Gundams are often anti-war, but I don't really agree with you that its a "lets blow everything up for peace", Team America style. Team America style stuff would be senseless violence just for the sake of it, under the excuse for peace. In some Gundam shows, the message is something like "You need to be willing to fight for a good cause in order to attain peace". Like, having to defeat "evil" in order to reach peace. A very common theme has both sides of war shown as good and bad, leaving lots of gray everywhere. I think that's one of the strengths of the shows.

I agree with this and I feel like it represents how some wars are fought to gain peace. I feel trys to explore what people fight for and that much better imo and just pure action, Its nice to have a story to back up your show. I also like the exploration of the effects of war on the pilots and those around them.

In the Gundam Wing Endless Waltz movie (IIRC) at the end of the movie, they were all just like "Guys let's stop this killing people!" and just disabled the enemy Mobile Suits without killing the pilot. Yeah, lol. The no-kill policy in newer gundams is retarded. The new no kill policy by angsty teenagers that fight for love and peace and are not supported by major powers is even more retarded. It's very difficult to take anything serious anymore, so I just watch it for the fights-- but that has mostly become laser beam spam.
