You guys are arguing about how you don't like the arguing...

So I'm watching the anime again and I'm at the Water 7 arc, where Usopp and Luffy have their duel. Just realized how deep the argument actually was. When I watched first piece the first time, I felt that Usopp was being an idiot. While that's somewhat true, the interesting part is how relevant the points Usopp brings up are.
For Usopp, the Going Merry is a nakama and a part of the Straw Hats. So Luffy's decision of getting a new ship was, for Usopp, a sign of betrayal. Usopp thought (rightfully so) that the most important thing possible to Luffy was his nakama. So Usopp seeing Luffy give up on the Going Merry is Usopp seeing Luffy "letting go" a nakama since that nakam couldn't "pull his own weight" anymore. Luffy's decision to abandon Merry since the ship was damaged beyond repair made Usopp think that he himself might also get abandoned considering that he's a "weak" crew member. This is aggravated by the fact that Usopp lost 2/3 of the the 300M that the Straw Hats got in Skypeia. What didn't help either was Luffy telling Usopp to leave the crew if he wasn't happy during their argument (then Sanji kicks Luffy, which is amazing). So, when you think about it, Usopp actually had very good reasons to stir up the shit he did.
On the other hand, Luffy is right in the argument. Merry being a ship, she can't get "stronger" unlike an actual crew member. So the damage done gets accumulated. Merry is condemned to die. Luffy's decision is also based on the fact that Merry sinking at sea would basically kill every crew member. That's why he made the decision he did. Usopp can't accept this and it's his discussion with Franky that makes him realize his mistake.
It's actually quite astonishing how I missed all these details the first time I watched. Both Usopp and Luffy had perfectly good reasons to fight. This drama wasn't the result of some idiot misunderstanding or anything like that, like you can see in other stories. It was the result of two conflicting ways of seeing things.
Oda is God.

Oda is God. Usopp never really noticed his mistake, right up till the end he was trying to fix it becuase it wasnt really a "mistake" he knew the facts and chose to forge ahead regardless

It wasnt a mistake on either end. Usopp knew the going merry was done for the entire time, he said it himself. He just didn't want to give it up. They just disagreed on something and fought over it, was probably the best plot fight in the series so far. It shows the balls of usopp and luffy had to man up and be a real captain. In the end both understood why the other was correct, luffy said one of the most important things in the series on these two pages and usopp apologized. It was a very win/win ending to the whole thing.
That whole arc is the biggest bonding arc in the series and while brooke is cool and all its why he still feels a little distant at times.

Oda is God. This is a fine example of what makes OP great. Charater growth that is relevant to the story's development and relatable to the readers. OP's emphasis was never on more power leveling, convoluted lore, fantasy logic, plot twist and emo poster shots. Thanks for posting this.

Wrong thread
EDIT: (might as well use the post) The luffy / ussop fight was amazing, well most of the water 7 / enies lobby was. Really deep and meaningful stuff ^^.

Good thing he started doing weird boob proportions instead.

I deleted my sentence about how it was before the weird boob proportions too.

They were always a bit weird because they fluctuated, even before the time skip Nami's bust would get bigger and smaller randomly.

Come on, the manga spoiler has no one piece confirmed spoiler
Is it another break?

If One Piece is doing another week pause, I am going to be sad.
Maybe Oda can't handle how good this arc is?
