unconfirmed, but he also has to "cut" the things he wants to seperate, he cant jsut make someones head fly off there body he has to "cut" the head off, though it doesnt matter how far away he is as long as he swings his sword in such a way that would cut off the head of the person (sorta like being able to make his sword as long as he wants it to be)
the ability is completely non-lethal, but the pieces that have been cut off still have complete senses so if you took someones heart you could attack the heart directly to cause extreme pain or outright kill them
furthermore after he cuts off a piece of someone he can freely attach anything to the area that was cut so if he cuts off someones legs he can give them new legs, which the person seems to have complete control over
in addition to cutting off pieces of somone he can also stab small parts out (like how he stabbed Smokers heart out of his body)
he can also make 2 people switch bodies
also unconfirmed is that Haki can help you resist his attacks
the major downside to it all is he cant actually do a fatal attack inside his sphere and his attacks dont become any harder to dodge inside either

you said his sword doesn't have to connect to make the "cut" wouldn't that be impossible to dodge?

Random thought, but it's kind of weird that Chopper's hat is never in danger in the same way Luffy's strawhat is. It hasn't happened but easily could Chopper's hat has the same signifance given by someone who they deeply care and can easily be damaged. I suppose Oda doesn't want the same peril and focus on another character's item even if they are another main character just not the main character.

i'd imagine the hat stays on a lot easier with the reindeer horns

its like he can make the sword as long as he wants so you can still dodge it you jsut ahve to dodge at long range too

Not many people talking about the anime, but it's finally reached the Franky Shogun "hentai" scene so worth watching imo

Kind of curious what kind of filler they will have post fishmen arc or in fishmen arc. They prelong episodes sure, but there are no extra adventures yet.

Fairly sure Law is seastoned as we speak, else at the very least Robin would have done everything already, Law too.
Also, does anyone feel like there was a big question mark in a scene in the chapter? There was a moment where CClown held out Smoker's heart like he was gonna punish him as Law was only a couple of pages previously, but was then interrupted. Reading between the Oda-esque-lines, this means that CClown has not attempted to crush or pressure Smoker's heart and we are yet to see a reaction from that.
Meaning: are we sure he's holding Smoker's heart? Or even then: that it affects Smoker?

The fruits did appear to turn into devil fruits. One piece chains are pretty silly

that's interesting, a whole boatload of new devil fruits... I wonder if some of the straw hats will get them? Either that or we're in for the long haul on this island and some of the lesser baddies are gonna power up hardcore.
Wait, even more interestingly... isn't there one character we know of who has been shown with more than one devil fruit power!? Could Blackbeard be involved in this somehow? If Doflamingo is involved (as was stated previously in this arc) then perhaps he has learned a thing or two from blackbeard? (crazy tangential theorycraft, I know)
Also, I'm not sure what will end up happening to deus ex machina them out off this island, but I have a feeling it will involve beppo.

thats a pretty big leap i dont see how Blackbeard is involved at all
i think this is an unforseeable side effect, the sled wasnt supposed to remain there the dragon was supposed to get it out of there so the apples werent left there on purpose, plus theres no camera to see the apples and it was never mentioned by Caeser
