And its funny you have to say "besides Sasaki", as if one of Kaido's officers getting blasted away by Franky's laser shouldn't count.

So, there are several examples of lasers doing damage against people. Now show me one example of "Everybody's been shrugging off laser beams". It should be easy, since apparently everyone has been doing it.

Urogue says "ouch" and continues fighting. Marco doesn't even flinch. Sentomaru got back up a couple chapters later and was just fine... Those aren't very good examples.

Urogue was taken out of the fight, Marco was literally blasted to pieces and had to regenerage, and Sentomaru is not "just fine" that man is literally cooked. And you still don't have a SINGLE example.

Just as a reminder, after the scene where Sentomaru is on the ground burned to a crisp, this is the next time we see him:

Okay, thanks Shellshock, that makes sense. I am wondering if this was clarified at some point. Maybe I had the wrong idea about Caterine's fruit but here's how I imagined it.

Whenever getting the touch off of something it takes a "blueprint" she can use. In this case she would only get this weird arachnoid copy and what good would that do?

The second reason which was only my personal implication so didn't want to spit out bullshit is that if this old deranged megalomaniac gets killed in this battle it would be hard to impossible to make any use of mimicking him.

I'm curious to see what is going to happen if Vegapunk dies. The word satellite and the story so far made me think they are one giant network of the same entity much like Zergs and overlords. So him being the cerebrate if he's dead the others would stop "being alive" too.

I can see reasons that would make him dead and the other Vegapunks alive but then how are they going to be a "full" person? They are just cyborg limbs.

Not sure her fruit was 100% explained but the way I’ve interpreted it is that it’s like an improved version of Mr 2’s fruit. She was able to completely copy Absalom when Moria went to Blackbeard’s island. It’s based on the 9 tailed fox whose abilities in folklore were to transform into different things and people

Alternative possibility is it lets her learn the rasengan

Vegapunk's main body is confirmed dead. Now I really hope that the Gorosei destroy Punk Records to permanently kill him and maybe even Imu activates Uranus to sink Egghead into the ocean. Vegapunk has done so much damage to the One Piece setting it's absurd. All the scifi shit doesn't belong in this manga. If I could strangle any character in the crib it would be him.

nah, OP is wacky enough that it blends in fine enough since its relatively contained. I will say Im not a huge pacifista fan because they are just clones visually, but the wacky scifi nonsense I think is played shockingly tolerably in OP

I've had a bit of time to think of what One Piece would look like if Vegapunk was indeed strangled in his crib. And... WOW! I really never realized how awful this man's contributions actually were. So much pain and suffering alleviated. Let's go through it step by step:

Karakuri Island (Future Island) doesn't exist:

Vegapunk never creates any futuristic animals and the island remains an ordinary winter island.
Franky never discovers the lab and doesn't go through his awful looking redesign

MADS:

Without Vega's help, the lineage factor is not discovered
No clones and no superhuman genetic engineering technology. Stussy and Weevil don't exist.
This group might last a lot longer and not be deemed "illegal" by the government since it never discovers the lineage factor. Caesar, Judge, and Queen likely mess around with being "evil scientists" but likely never make any real progress without Vegapunk and due to their constant infighting.

Sanji:

Sanji's mother is still alive and his brothers aren't emotionless killing machines so they don't harass him. Sanji likely stays with his family. Zeff never loses his leg. SANJI IS NOT MADE INTO A SIMP. Zeff easily defeats Don Kreig on the Baratie. Luffy recruits someone else there instead (maybe Gin?).

Devil Fruit Research:

No SMILEs and SAD. No Kaido SMILE Army. No Doflamingo Factory. Caesar is still a shadow broker that sells poison gas. Artificial Devil Fruits like Momonosuke's dragon fruit do not exist.

No Punk Hazard:

The government never imprisons Kaido with King and so they never form the Beast pirates. Queen likely never joins either since MADS doesn't get dissolved.

Wano:

Without King or Queen, Kaido likely never takes over Wano. Oden is still alive and becomes Shogun. Momonosuke is never sent into the future and is a fully grown adult by the beginning of the series.

Kuma

Never meets Vegapunk and is therefore unable to cure Bonney. Bonney dies on her 10th birthday and Kuma stays a revolutionary and never becomes a cyborg or a pacifista.
The Pacifista are never created. The Marines lose out on a very powerful weapon. The seraphim are also never created. The Shichibukai system is never dissolved and the Cross Guild is never founded.
Kuma doesn't wipe out the Strawhats at Sabaody. Rayleigh is able to save them from Kizaru and the Strawhats successfully escape the island.

Impel Down:

Straw Hats invade Impel Down (as they did Enies Lobby) but are defeated by Magellan. They all end up in Level 5.5. There is a chance the Straw Hats MIGHT be able to defeat Magellan and save Ace here. But with vice admiral Onigumo being there and in an effort to preserve continuity, I'm going to say that they lose.

Marineford:

No pacifista presence + all of the straw hats being there means that Ace might actually be saved. Whitebeard still probably dies due to his injuries. ACE IS ALIVE. Sabo never gets the Mera Mera fruit, ruining his uniqueness as a character.

No Time Skip:

Luffy and friends don't spend 2 years doing jack shit and instead go to the new world right away.
The Straw Hats don't change their wardrobe into their awful redesigns.
The Straw Hats develop their own abilities on their own without relying on others to mentor them.

Impossible to predict what happens from here since we're 2 years early into the New World. But even if there is a timeskip for whatever reason, this part of the series would still play out very differently since there would be no Law alliance (no Punk Hazard) and no Whole Cake (no Sanji) and no Wano (no Beast Pirates). So who knows what would even happen?

Straw Hats invade Impel Down (as they did Enies Lobby) but are defeated by Magellan. They all end up in Level 5.5. There is a chance the Straw Hats MIGHT be able to defeat Magellan and save Ace here. They ain't just losin' everyone but like, Zoro, Luffy, maaaaybe Sanji are dead as hell

With that analysis, Sanji never even joins the crew, and the whole crew gets wiped by Arlong, they wouldn't even make it to the Grand Line

Someone else is recruited instead at Baratie though. I'm thinking Gin joins instead. Zeff shows the same kindness to him that Sanji did and after Don Kreig and his crew get destroyed and Zoro bravely faces Mihawk, Gin decides to join up with the Straw Hats as he sees them as a cut above the rest. Also, it's not like Sanji really did anything in Arlong Park. The only contributions he actually made to the team were in Alabasta as Mr. Prince and during Water 7 when he borded the train and unlocked the gates of Justice. However, I doubt the Straw Hats wouldn't find a way to deal with these events without his contributions. They've got the luck of the devil.

You might need to re-read Arlong park, he saved Luffy's life. Luffy was drowning to death underwater, and its Sanji who beats a fishman underwater to save him.
