i think thats the main point of the discussion though. kizaru is really underpowered compared to what he should theoretically be able to do. and theoretically what he should be able to do blows enel out of the water

Pretty sure the main point of the discussion was whether Kizaru's fruit is naturally superior to Enel's fruit... and within the One Piece universe, it's clearly not. Granted, we haven't yet seen all the crazy shit Kizaru can do, but I don't think Light can just naturally outclass Lightning.
A quick example: Kizaru's beams have been shown to act like bullets when shot at people (penetrate skin) and as missiles when they hit something non-organic (explode). Sure, that sounds dangerous, except for the fact that Enel could fry anyone alive with a single zap. The zap wasn't lethal, but it put characters out of commission for hours, while light beams seemed to just cause discomfort.
And in regards to movement, how was Rayleigh able to move so quickly that he surprised Kizaru and blocked his attack? Was Rayleigh moving faster than light? I doubt it. It's probably just a case of Kizaru being as fast as the narrative needs him to be, which is much, much slower than actual light speed.

Kizaru has pretty much half assed everything he has done in the series so far. And no he has straight killed people with his beams, they don't just "cause discomfort".

Enel's big ass beams failed to kill anyone, while Kizaru has indeed straight killed people by shooting them, along with blowing shit up. Hell, the Pacifista who have beams based on his also straight killed people

Rayleighs likely got Obs Haki good enough to let him predict exactly where he needs to strike to meet Kizaru at the speed of light. Is that insanely potent, of course, it’s OP

if kizaru wasnt nerfed then rayleighs haki wouldnt matter. even if he knows where kizaru is going to be rayleigh physically shouldnt be able to match his speed to meet him there

I think Rayleigh outspeeding Kizaru can easily be explained by Kizaru being human, as in limited perception, reaction speed and foresight. Even if you are theoretically super fast you might limit your speed to not crash into a wall with infinite energy every time you move because your senses definitely can't keep up with the speed of light. Also moving would likely be a conscious action that takes time for your brain to perform. A character like Rayleigh who is very fast and can predict where Kizaru moves might simply outperform what Kizaru is accustomed to.

Every now and then I wonder why I keep reading this thread, but then I read gold nuggets like this.
This whole discussion is ridiculous, but it does highlight the fact that right now it's kinda hard for readers to tell what Kizaru is able and not able to do.
Wasn't a new chapter supposed to drop today? I'm confused.
