They are just really privileged class that spend their days faffing about. I imagine that it's the Gorosei that make all of the decisions and the celestial dragons reap the rewards. The thing that irks me about it is that it would make zero sense in real life: someone who doesn't do anything but dick around cannot hold on to power for long. I mean what's stopping the Gorosei from just exterminating the celestial dragons? Who would be against that? Cp0? Cp0 only has power because of the World Government.... which is run by the Gorosei. I hope Oda extrapolates some more about the nature of the world nobles because as it stands right now, Mariejois just looks like a giant daycare with a shitload of money.
Look at most of the royal families around today.. They literally do nothing besides sit on some boards for charities or get "jobs" like "helicopter pilot" after which they literally do fuck all.... and today's Royal's are an improvement on the kind of lavish lifestyles and privileges they would have had in the past before governments were introduced. If you ask me, the depiction of the celestial dragons is pot on... even down to their "weird" looks. I mean just google the royal families around Europe and you'll find most of them are very VERY related to each other.

Gorosei want the dragons to exist either because of something in the past, or because it's convenient for them to exist. The dragons constantly flaunting their power also is an easy way for the public to always be aware of the strength of the world government. The Gorosei want people to know they have power, but likely don't want to waste their time doing things to constantly remind people of it.

There is a great theory about Rocks and Shakky + Show Spoiler + being the part of rocks. She said that she quit being pirate 40 years ago, which is the exact time of Rocks era.
Rocks =
R = Leader?
O = ?
C = Charlotte Linlin
K = Kaidou
S = Shakky
I think Rocks is like an alliance rather than crew. It makes even more sense since we know that Big Mom pirates existed in the past.

uh also, could it be? the first triplets being Kaidou and Big Mom's children.

Ha, I was actually thinking of that too. "Let's get along like we used to" does sound sexually loaded, especially coming from a woman who's apparently banged half the grand line.

So Kaido's juice resulted in Katakuri, Daifuku and Oven? God damn. Makes me wonder why Big Mom even bothered with other men.
|
im more interested in the kind of juice these guys are drinking that makes them attracted to big mom. theyve got some good shit in the grand line

What a chapter. Poor Vivi, getting chosen over Luffy, Blackbeard, Shirahoshi by Im-sama. And Kuma...
And Oda cunning as ever is hiding the fact that Im is actually Enel.
|
Oh my god what a relevation about kuma
|
i havent been this excited about one piece in a looooooong time
|
I wonder if there is a connection between Im-sama and Mihawk considering they're the only two people we've seen with those eyes.
|
Ay, Luffy is gonna punch world gov right in the dick in 2 arcs, I reckon

What's that about remaining on the surface 800 years ago? These chapters are so loaded with information it's hard to focus on any one thing.

Seeing Kuma like that makes me wish that Whitebeard won the war against deepshit WG. He could have governed better than those scumbags.

I'm not sure if I pieced it together correctly. So, Kuma was a king before becoming a pirate, which is why the WG, after bringing him in as a Shichibukai decided to make him a Pacifista lab-rat? Or did that have to do with the Revolutionary Army connections of his. I can't really remember how that went anymore.
This is also interesting: + Show Spoiler + I think the secret doffy was talking about is Im-sama. The fact that there is a true king in the world would upset the kings of the world. (from Reddit)
Man, these are some of the most exciting chapters in the past X years! So much stuff, I'm instantly re-reading each chapter at least twice.
|
They are showing off Kuma to other kings as example. Regardless of your strength or your status, if your country become affiliated with revolutionary army, you will end up like Kuma.
