All the recaps combined take 1 page. The meat of this chapter is in the setup of future chapters:
1) The exploration of Mary Geoise. Luxury built on misery with potential new revolutionaries if they're freed. Setting up Charloss wanting Shirahoshi and the conflict between the mermen and the celestial dragons. Pangaea castle, subtle name. A whole host of strong body guards that could end up as friends or foes.
2) The Luffy allies in government finding each other. Dressrosa, Prodence, Alabasta, Sakura, and Ryugu kingdoms all have a connection through Luffy. It wasn't known going into this arc if they'd find out about their common ally, but now it seems likely that they'll stand up for each other when there's a very strong potential for conflict around Shirahoshi.
3) The end bit with Doflamingo and the treasure. Presumably the guy at the end is a very high level assassin, the type that Doflamingo thinks he needs protection from even down in Impel Down. So the type that poses a threat to Luffy while holding his bounty poster (and one more unknown poster). Also, the mystery of the treasure, what is the deal with a giant straw hat? Lot's of questions around that.
So overall, a chapter that may not do a lot on its own, but really sets up a whole bunch of things in the future and watching it come together is what has always made One Piece so good.

He could very well be a nobility amongst the dragons rather than the man that will be sent to do dirty work as he looks as if he's bearing a crown.

Oda is a genius I wouldn't be surprised at all if that turns out to be the case. But it would be so cheap. "It's all about the journey not the destination" #inspiration #motivation #carpediem
Oda's stated that the treasure is an actual physical reward.

Honestly, I gotta agree. I felt the recap was a bit too long and took up too much of the chapter. It could have been shortened quite a bit. Seemed like we got actual, legitimate filler in the manga. And honestly, what the hell is anyone even doing if they're not starting to read One Piece from chapter 1. Like, is it really that much work to start from the beginning? It'll take you maybe a weekend at most.
Can't say it was a shitty chapter overall because it actually moved the main plot forward (more than the entire Whole Cake arc combined).

Not to mention that not everyone's as obsessed with OP as we are; those reading it casually, or have just forgotten (and don't take to wikias and such to refresh their memory) probably finds it helpful.

That damn editor, haha, he reveals too much!
So I guess Reverie is just going to be the New World's "Banaro Island" - which was the setup for the Marineford war.

That's what I thought. Oda wouldn't stay off the entire SH crew for a whole arc.

Most importantly,
+ Show Spoiler +The Rocks? From the context it sounds like a super pirate crew that Kaidou and Big Mom were both part of? Damn.
|
!!!
Is every last page going to be an ODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
|
reverie may be short but we are getting so much plot development here. thank god
|
Fuck off Shanks, show me the hat again.
|
Shanks has to be the most influential pirate ever, dude is everywhere.
I think Big Mom and Kaidou wasnt on same crew, but it was a alliance called the Rock. We know that Big Mom has established her island and Big Mom Pirates in very early age.
|
im under the impression that before big mom had her own kids she was in a crew with kaidou. hana specifically mentions a captain of a crew thats no longer around and seems to be referring to big mom and kaidou as remnants of that crew. i wouldnt be surprised if another legendary pirate is introduced by shanks who is also an old member of "the rock". maybe these guys are doing something thats causing hana to refer to past members of "the rock" to be gaining strength.
if its not a completely new character i think blackbeard and luffy are probably the only pirates shank would talk about?

It's going to be the Lock, guys!
