![]() The Counterfeiters Watched this in my Holocaust class. Austrian movie about Operation Bernhard, where the Nazis had Jewish specialists work in a concentration camp to produce millions and millions of forged pounds and dollars in an attempt to flood the Bank of England. High quality acting and some pretty powerful cinematography. Won an Oscar, deservedly so. 9/10

Insidious: HOLY SHIT, THAT'S SOME MESSED UP STUFF..... I was actually kind of shivering while walking out of the theater. I recommend it if you like strange, scary movies. 7.5/10? (Not really sure how to rate scary movies as I don't watch them very often) Thor: SURPRISINGLY better than expected. Pretty cliche mostly, but was worth the damn good 2 hours. I recommend it Also 7.5/10, The constant cliche scenes kind of lowered the rating.....

![]() Cruel intentions was a really amazing movie. I remember seeing it on TV once, I'm watching it again now. I hope to watch the third one with some friends soon and just to skip #2. It's a very witty, yet entertaining movie about this exceptionally seductive player and his manipulative step sister. The other woman is a believer in chastity. Come to think of it, I probably shouldn't watch this movie alone. But I have no one to watch it with otherwise D': Rotten tomatoes gives this a worse rating than it deserves. Needs a 10/10.

As works of art they really are rather beautiful, and exotic, but they don't really make you think too deeply. They have their morals. I'd rate them above any action flick, but if you don't like it after 20 minutes, you probably won't like the rest of it, or the other four movies.

Originally, I though I'd only really like the newer-ish style of anime, where the characters DON'T look like they belong in thundercats (never really watched a lot of anime ![]() On May 11 2011 07:38 Hidden_MotiveS wrote: You know I watched Spirited Away and Castle in the Sky. Haven't seen Castle in the Sky, but I personally thought that Spirited Away was pretty mind-intensive. Throughout the movie so many things are kind of left unanswered (and for a reason I'm sure), that I personally couldn't STOP thinking about it for the longest time. And I also found that (for me), there are a lot of hidden/double meanings in the movie, and if you miss even a few pieces of dialogue it can leave you completely confused for the rest of the movie. But hey, thats what is so cool about that movie in my opinion. A lot of it is left to your imagination, and at least I found as a stimulating mind exercise.

... Akira is all about hyper-reality, which later became known as bullet time. Animation, and more importantly imagination, allows impossibly kinetic and 'free' camera movement. The style rams home every car crash, explosion and death defying stunt. It's not the easiest film to watch in one sitting, nor indeed, at all, but you'll come away knowing where the inspiration behind so many late Nineties blockbusters came from. More importantly, you'll appreciate how mediums come to influence other mediums, and barriers such as language and culture can be hurdled with ease. ... Other strengths include the intelligent use of sound. A minimum of scoring is used: mostly Japanese drums and percussion, and some voices during dramatic parts. More interesting is the use of silence, absolute flat silence, during key moments. It fits in very well with the themes of psychic/telepathic powers, and in a more general way, the vivid hyper-reality of the film's delivery. Put it this way - when you dream, you dream in a silence of implied words, and Akira knows this too. And it's available in 1080p now! Back on topic: ![]() The Eagle Don't waste your time. Watch Centurion instead.

![]() Jigureul jikyeora! a.k.a Save the Green Planet is the story of a man, Byeong-gu, who believes that Earth is on the verge of an alien invasion and that he is the only man that can save it. I would recommend this movie for anyone who likes Asian film in general or for the one who is looking for something different. Whilst this movie wasn't directly what I was looking for when I first stumbled upon it, I found it very enjoyable, movie offers something different, something else. One could even say it offers something new to the genre. This is far from the funniest movie I have ever seen but it has a few laugh-out-loud moments, it's not for the comedy I would recommend anyone to watch this film. This movie will keep you guessing what is to come, and yet you will never be sure. The false-positive predictability is a striking part of the film and will follow you and keep you guessing throughout the whole movie, this is one reason why this movie is good, or could even be considered great. As with most Korean (and Asian) movies the cinematography is great. The acting was good, there are a few different and alternate-fun characters that will keep you interested. The soundtrack was good, it's not what sticks out but it sets the mood in a good way for all scenes in the film. One thing I find really weird is the cover, it looks like your normal family-fun comedy but that's far from the case, so do not watch this with your smallest children (if you have any) ![]() IMDB-Link
